Welcome back. 10:42 this morning and vintage lovers get ready because
the Good Booty Flea is taking over Conterra in Laurel Saturday.
More than 150 vintage sellers and curators set to be there.
That's right. And joining us with what to expect,
we have Meredith Williams, Peter Chang and Rich Berg.
Guys, so good to have you. Thanks for being here. So we've got to start
with the name because it caught a lot of attention this morning.
Good Booty Flea. What is behind the name of this?
You know, I have to give all the credit to my wife.
She grew up in London and in the UK.
the flea markets there are called boot sales
because the trunk of your car is called the boot
so you know we're doing a boot sale our you know UK version
of the flea market here in Washington
in Laurel, Maryland at Conterra so basically we're like
when you go to a flea market it's like
hunting for treasure also right yeah
that's what i thought it was what do pirates call treasure
booty so naturally we saw we we thought to call it
the Good Booty Flea okay that's very fun very
Very attention-grabbing.
And memorable.
Love it.
Okay, so talk to us a little bit about what people can expect
when they come out to the Good Booty Flea.
Yeah, we're really excited.
We've got over 150 vendors selling all sorts of goods,
vintage clothing.
We've got furniture.
We've got all sorts of collectibles, jewelry.
You're going to see a little bit of everything.
Wow.
Including some collectibles.
I see this Wheaties box.
That kind of took me back a little bit.
Tell us a little bit about what you brought here.
Just kind of a little bit of a taste of what you'll have out there.
Yeah, Rich is one of our vendors, and he can take it away.
Yes, my name is Rich. I'm from Homecore DMV in Silver Spring.
We also do the Street Market Gallery, one of the curators of the event.
Show you a little bit of what we have,
what you can expect to find from the vendors on Saturday.
You know, we have a pair of Supreme Vans here
with a little dollar bill hits. Really cool, kind of hard to find.
We've got a pair of these Salomons. These are an XT-6.
They're a collaboration with a reggaeton artist named Feid.
Fun, nice.
Really great trail shoe, but most probably seen
at a coffee shop somewhere, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
Awesome. Yeah, this is a family-friendly event, Meredith.
How many years has this been going on,
and what do you want people to know and take away from it?
Yeah, this is our first
good booty flea. It's at Cantera,
and Cantera really is a mini city rising just 30 minutes
outside of D.C., Baltimore, Rockville,
and Annapolis, and we've just started construction.
I think some people have seen some signs off of 95,
and to give you a sense of scale,
national harbor is 350 acres we're four times
that at 1400 acres wow this is near laurel right
it is near laurel okay laurel oh yeah that's
a really nice spacious area yeah it's great and
it's a great opportunity to have this type of event
because eventually we'll be having you'll
see apartments condos retail
and many things to do such as shopping restaurants and we even have
eight miles of trails so but what we're really building
is a community um we really want people
to come in and we're creating spaces to create those connections
and since we're hosting
the Good Booty Flea for the first time,
we're bringing people in for the first time to see
Conterra and see those, create those connections.
How many vendors are we talking here and yeah?
150 vendors and we just want everyone to know it's 100% free to attend.
It's going to be free parking,
it's going to be family friendly, bring your dog, bring
your kids.
There's a lot to see there.
let me ask you are there any tips and tricks
when it comes to finding some of those perfect pieces
to add to your collection perhaps do you guys have any tricks
for anybody um i think that's just up
to the uh up to the person and there's so much to see
and there's so many different types of vendors
that we're going to have i was going to say yeah what types
of vendors can people look forward to
again jewelry furniture vintage clothing different
collectibles i mean you're going to see everything
there so something for everyone wow we'll
also have food trucks and bands so it's going to be
A whole day of excitement.
I'm noticing some of the clothes over there.
That's why I was asking
because I noticed like an old school Caps jersey it looks like.
Yeah, we got like a really cool vintage
Caps tee right here from the 80s.
That's really cool.
We got a Betty Boop down here on the corner.
Cute.
Really cool stuff that people are really interested in right now.
Some vintage Carhartt, you know.
We want to look like we do the hard work without really doing it.
So this is perfect.
But yeah, just a little bit of street wear, sneakers, vintage.
If you're a shopper, you'll love it.
A lot of women's wear, too.
Jewelry.
Really cool stuff.
Talk about what's so special about vintage finds.
There's some people who are really enthusiastic about it.
Yeah, I mean, for me personally, it's like a combination
of sustainability and they don't make it like they used to.
There's like, if you look at a vintage band tee from the 80s,
they're just not using the same cotton.
It doesn't fit the same way.
It doesn't have the same wear or the same cut.
And, yeah, you just, you can, it's an opportunity to be an individual
amongst, like, a really fast fashion forward, like, society.
So, it's just really cool to stand out.
And it's a good fun talker piece whenever you meet somebody.
Like, I'm noticing your cap's jersey over here,
your cap's sweater over here, you know,
just little vintage pieces that go a long way.
All right, one more time where people can find you guys.
