Welcome back.
If you scroll through Netflix,
you'll probably notice a new series called Hollywood Arts.
Atlanta native and rising star Peyton Jackson is one of the stars.
This one goes out to Trina, our brand new teacherina.
No cap, no cap, no cap, no cap.
Trying to sing about what's happened so far.
Red cap, red cap, red cap, red cap.
Cycle it out, Trina.
Ain't got her own origin story.
Like a sister named Tori who's famous.
Trina helped find the hidden talent of our techie.
Hey!
And Peyton joins us now to talk about his character on the show
and what you can expect
when it comes to the new series. Good morning.
Good morning. How are you? Good. Okay. So that
was my first time kind of like checking you out.
What did you think? Oh, you're talented. You got
to teach me something. So tell me about the new series, right?
Go through, talk about your
character, talk about the show.
What is it about for those who've never seen any of the trailers?
Okay, well, I will say that the show is kind of like
a continuation of the original show, Victorious.
We're not a reboot. We are a spinoff.
So it's kind of focusing on a new group of kids,
but also focusing on the teacher or past student, Trina,
who comes back and begrudgingly
and unknowingly becomes a great teacher to all of these students.
And my character is Quest,
and he's the cool one who everyone kind of comes and reconvenes with.
And he's like the mediator of the group, which is super cool.
and he's also like really super talented he's
a singer plays several instruments and uh i think
the more that we get to know him
and the more that i play him the the more like maybe it's
eccentrified he will become
but as of right now he's really cool really uh collected and honestly
just who everyone goes to whenever they have a problem
and you know they might get him in trouble
sometimes but you know he's always there for his friends
and that's cool and i noticed you mentioned
music right so you have a connection to music off
the screen tell us how you kind of made that
connection of what you got in the you know your background
and your character yeah well i mean
it definitely helped with some of the terminology
that's used in the show uh not as much in the
first half and the second half
which i can't wait for everyone to see but um it made it super easy
with you know the the techno like the technology of everything
and and just you know being in the
studio and recording stuff
and you know all of the moving parts it just made everything super cool
because i'm a producer in real life
so it's it's it's just it was really fun to kind of connect
the two worlds that's awesome and you
also got to work with some amazing co-stars some talented
people uh tell me about maybe one
or two of your co-stars that really stood out to you yeah well
of course you know you have the amazing you know Daniella Monet she
was really cool to work with
super funny you know super you know helping
with being in a new environment and being in a new
genre for me because personally I've never been in a sitcom before
and I had never done multicam
before so she was super helpful with that as well
as you know the directors and all of that stuff
but also you know I gotta give a quick shout out
to my other co-star Emily Wang she was also super
cool too loved her I still talk to her like every day you know
so if you're watching me love you
but uh yeah yeah that those are the two I would
probably say like they they really helped me on
set you know feel more secure
and and you know just really helped me through that entire process
and so tell me about you have Atlanta Roots
but then I also read something about the Apollo
yeah talk about that one oh yeah that that takes me back
to like 2017 maybe 2016-17 I think I was
eight or nine and i yeah i flew to apollo after doing
a little local theater production here in
atlanta and they made me or not made me
but they had me audition for apollo up in new york and
i was able to perform there like twice and i won
and it was really cool it was a really fun
experience okay and you're you're not only acting right you're
also in school so you gotta tell me
about that because that yeah acting is a job
and it is yeah it's been it's been really cool and
and a little complicated to balance
and juggle everything all together.
But it overall has been a really cool experience
and has definitely taught me a lot about time management
because I don't know.
I'm going to school for animation
because I love to create stories through animation.
I love storytelling through animation.
It's, I think, in my opinion, a really beautiful thing,
whether it be comedy or drama or series or action,
whatever it may be, I just love animation and voice acting.
So that's what I'm going to school for.
And if you know anything about animation or art majors in general,
you know that that takes a billion years off of your life.
And it just it's a really hard and complicated but beautiful process
to go through to learn and and really go to school for.
So balancing that with my career and also,
you know, my school life and, you know,
the business side of everything has been it's been a learning curve.
And I'm still getting used to it and I'm still,
you know, learning about everything.
um but i will say we only have a few seconds left yeah
but uh before we wrap up tell us what's the
future look like for you well any special projects
yeah well you can definitely look forward to an
animated series that i'm currently making
and as far as any other future projects you're just
gonna have to wait and see because i don't think
i can really say anything about anything else i'm
doing that's a good teaser all right guys
if you want to check it out hollywood arts is now
streaming on netflix yeah
