AI GeneratedThe weather is shifting rapidly over the next 24 hours, transitioning from light rain and breezy conditions to strong winds and a significant temperature drop. A cold front will bring freeze warnings and frost advisories across most of the state tonight, with temperatures dipping into the 20s and 30s before a warming trend returns starting Saturday.
It's been an interesting 24 hours here.
All the excitement, of course,
of last night and the sweep and moving on to the World Series.
And then the weather is just going
to throw us a very effective change-up.
Let's use the baseball terminology there because we are going
to go through quite a few different phases in the next 24 hours.
We've got the breeze right now.
It's not terribly windy, but it is breezy.
We've got the rain right now, but we don't have the cold just yet.
That's going to kick in in just a bit.
Now, the rain is actually likely
to pick up before it starts calming down.
Right now, it's pretty light, drizzly stuff, but there are a few
pockets of more moderate rain that'll swing through here through
the midday and early afternoon and behind this departing low.
Now, that wind is already starting to kick up,
but it'll likely get even stronger as it turns more to the north,
northwest in the next few hours here.
Could see some wind gusts upwards of 30, pushing 40 miles per hour.
And that all ushers in this much colder air.
We're clinging to the low 50s here.
You've got some low 40s off to the north and west.
And once the sun sets and the sky is clear,
perfect recipe to get pretty chilly for tonight.
So let's go look ahead here with Sky Vision Plus.
Now, short term, like I said,
the rain will pick up before it starts to calm back down.
The wind really stays strong throughout the day
and actually does kind of ramp up a bit right in that midday
and into the afternoon and early evening.
During that time frame,
you're looking at 15 to 25 with gusts 30 to 40 miles per hour.
And then look what happens here as we go
into the later evening and overnight.
Wind calms down, skies clear up, and that combination allows us
to cool down very, very efficiently in the overnight.
Wind gusts for the day today, as you can see,
could be in that 35, pushing 40 mile per hour range,
in that sweet spot there of the afternoon and maybe early evening.
Then, as I mentioned, things calm down,
the skies clear, and the temperatures bottom out.
Upper 20s and low 30s for the inland areas.
Some low 30s for the lakeside spots as we go into Saturday morning.
And as a result, we have numerous advisories and warnings popping up.
Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine,
and Kenosha counties are under a frost advisory.
Farther inland where it should be just a little bit colder,
you've got that freeze warning flying.
And we're certainly not alone.
Most of the state is under this.
In fact, most of the exceptions to that have already seen
their first freeze, meaning the growing season has ended.
And once that happens, we don't get
freeze warnings and frost advisories.
Otherwise, we'd have them all late fall and winter. Right.
So, yeah, most of the state is in for this tonight.
Our forecast high of 54 does fall short of the high there
as far as the averages go in the climate period.
Obviously, 32 kind of undercuts the normals there as well.
Not in record territory. And this isn't particularly early.
early. It's going to be a hair earlier than the average first freeze,
which typically happens
around the 22nd. But bear in mind,
that's marked at Mitchell International, which by being near
the lake, might not quite hit 32 today.
Might just hang on to 33 and extend it just a hair. But
do prepare for a cold night everywhere.
Fox 6 Day Planner has that change up up front today.
Windy, wet, turning colder, dropping down to the 30s tonight.
Then look at the sunshine and the
Come back 58 Saturday, 64 Sunday.
Should be 68 by Monday and near 70 by Tuesday and Wednesday.
