Wait, Makiya, I'm ready to go.
Oh, I am too.
Listen, if you're looking to switch up your game day spread,
look no further.
BBQ Chicken is bringing Korean fried chicken
to the tailgate table with flavors
ranging from sweet and savory to spicy and extra crunchy.
Our goal is to try them all.
This is Soya, an assistant brand manager.
This is Esther from BBQ Chicken.
Two locations where you are, Esther,
which are Tyson's and Ashburn, right?
Yes, we are from Tyson's and Ashburn location.
But we got 13 locations across the DMV, right?
All the way from Woodbridge to D.C. to Silver Spring, Maryland.
Okay, so here's my first question, Suhan.
Soyona, I'm going to ask you, first of all,
BBQ, always thought it was barbecue.
It actually stands for something else, right?
Yeah, it stands for best of the best quality.
Now it all makes sense.
Now it all makes sense.
So that being said, you guys have a lot of locations nationwide.
You mentioned yesterday you have 13 of them here in D.C.
What are some of the things that we talked about this with tailgating?
What are some of the things
that make Korean fried chicken special, first of all?
and then what would make that good for tailgating well first
of all korean fried chicken is a lot
crispier and less greasy than american fried chicken um and it's
also our bbq chicken is
marinated for two days so it's packed with a lot of flavor as well
and it gets a lot crispier too
today we brought a lot of flavors for you guys
as well um but what's better than chicken and
beer for tailgating and for game days right it doesn't get better than
that you all have a couple
of flavors here, and this is a new one that you're offering.
Yes, we brought two new flavors today.
Awesome. The one that you pointed out just now is going
to be our Boom Chicken, but we really want to show you guys
our Field Crunch. Okay, all right. Walk us through
the process. Let's work on this
together.
I'm going to step out of the way right here, unless you want me to get
involved. So, Field Crunch is
going to be a collaboration with Felix from
Stray Kids right over here.
We love Felix. We have the chicken box, and also the
posters right here. Wait, those
are available at the stores? Yeah.
There you go. That's going to sell a lot
of chicken right there just in itself.
Right. Pretty packaging.
Okay, so what's happening right now?
What kind of sauce are we looking at here?
So this is our caramelized onion sauce.
So it has that sweet and savory flavor all packed into it.
Now she's going to go ahead and hand toss everything for you guys.
And all of our chicken needs are hand tossed or hand coated.
I like the paddles that we're using here.
And you can really hear that crispness in there as well.
How do you all get the extra crunch and crisp in your chicken?
Is it double fried or how do you accomplish this?
So all of our chicken is marinated in two days.
It's not double fried, but some of them are double fried as well.
This one specifically, we're going to add the cereal crunch on top,
so it gives that extra crunch and flavor for you guys, too.
Oh, I was like, so this is an extra crunch on top of the crunch
that we're already getting from the chicken itself.
So, what do you see as the secret to this?
You guys are so successful nationwide with all the locations.
What is it that you think really sets you apart?
I believe that we have something for everyone.
So, we have like 14 flavors so far.
So we have something from sweet to very spicy.
So there is something for everyone,
and it's really good for the tailgating watch party as well.
Like you mentioned, I mean, what goes
better than chicken and beer together?
But that's not all I see on the counter here.
Walk me through some of the other items that
you have in addition to the fried chicken.
So other than fried chicken, we also offer Korean food.
We have tteokbokki here, which is a Korean classic,
and kimchi fried rice, which is also a Korean classic.
Now, other than Maekju, which is beer,
we also brought our sojus for all different flavors.
We also like to mix soju and Maekju as well.
Really?
Yes.
Okay, that's an interesting mix.
Next time you guys should try it.
I think that sounds like an invitation
that we want to take advantage of.
I'm just looking at the wings over here.
You have a glove?
Yeah, I put the glove on not to prepare food,
but to eat the food, Mikiya.
I'm just going to grab one in just a second.
Is that how you would present it, like if we came to the restaurant?
Yes, so if you came to the restaurant, you will see it like this.
If you order it, you'll get it in a Felix box.
Okay, I like it.
Nice.
Shout out to Felix.
Straight kids.
Now you just put this one together, which
looks amazing, and I'm going to grab a piece
of this, Makiya.
You can do it the same.
The other one you said is a mixture of four cheeses, right?
So what are some of the more popular flavors,
I guess, that people will typically go for?
So honey garlic is our best seller.
And this golden original, what we have right here,
is always the classic one.
We also have a traditional galbi flavor right here.
Oh, wow.
How did you all come up with this concept right here?
You said this tastes like Cheetos.
Right, so it's like a four cheese seasoning,
so it's like a Gouda, parmesan, blue cheese, and cheddar.
And this bone chicken is really popular,
it was really popular in Korea.
It sold one million chickens in 100 days.
Wow.
So. This is delicious.
Not gonna lie, it's very, very good.
To me, the flavor, it's got a lot of layers of flavor to it,
which I think is great.
the sauce that goes with it but that crunch on top
of the crunch takes it to the next level, right? A lot of
texture, a hint of the heat, I'm tasting it here,
a little bit of heat in there, but not enough to
overpower, just enough for the flavor in there,
so 13 locations in the area. Where are we covering the
whole area? Maryland, DC, Virginia, yeah.
so we do have one down in Woodbridge as well, so all the way down
south we have a couple in DC and we
also have a couple around here in Silver Spring, Maryland,
again we are from Tysons and Ashburn,
so please come say hi, um, but we do have locations all around,
all right awesome, see you at one of those two locations
or hit one of the other 11 that
are in the DMV, yep, I'm gonna finish this, trust me,
by the time we come back this is gonna be gone,
cheers, cheers to you, thanks for coming down
to share your story, uh, there's the information if
you want to find the location closest to you
or follow them on social media, I can say this, look,
at the pretty pictures online
but you got to go taste it to get the real deal, good stuff, thanks,
We'll see you in a minute.
