Let's get a look at the forecast here
because we are in for quite the change starting tomorrow.
Yeah, starting early tomorrow.
This front is just speeding up more and more.
And I think by 8, 9 a.m. tomorrow, it's through the Houston area.
And it's through the entire area by the early afternoon.
But this front has been causing some
problems in other parts of the state.
So let's check out what happened in Midland earlier today.
A lot of rain fell in a short period of time.
And you know what happens when you get that set up.
Massive flooding, flash flooding.
And you can see those cars trying to make it through.
Hopefully they were okay, but it looks
like some of them may have been struggling
because it was a lot of rain piling up on those roads
and it was difficult to see.
So thank goodness the front is not going
to bring us anything like that.
We do have a few showers trying to get going tonight just south
of Lake Jackson near Highway 288.
This is going to be right around Freeport.
They're trying to roll on shore.
They may survive, they may not,
but not expecting a lot of rain with this front.
It's mainly going to be a lot of wind and a nice drop in temperatures.
We need that drop because today we were once again
in the 90s in Houston, 92, the high today.
Not quite record heat,
but several degrees above that normal or average high in the low 80s.
So we can finally say goodbye to the summer
weather, at least for this week.
The chill is officially back for your Friday all
the way through the weekend.
Cold front will arrive early tomorrow,
ushering in some of the coldest temps we've felt since April and May.
And you'll also have to deal with a lot of wind, so plan on some gusty
conditions out there with gusts maybe up to 30, 40 miles per hour
and that wind advisory just outside of the Houston area.
That does include places like Baytown, Galveston, Katy, and Sealy.
Where is the front now?
Well, it's right up towards the Dallas area, just west of Austin,
San Antonio, still bringing some heavy rain with it
and still bringing some chilly temps.
In fact, we're still near 80 here in H-Town,
but how about 54 degrees in Amarillo?
So it is a major drop.
It gets even colder the farther north and west you go.
We're talking about freeze warnings in Denver,
freeze watches for places like Minneapolis, Omaha.
And over the last day or two, we've had snowflakes flying
in the Rockies, several inches for parts of the Rockies.
So it is definitely a sign that we're getting closer
and closer to the winter season.
Fall is here. We're finally at least going to start to feel a little
more like fall and some spots across the U.S. getting winter weather.
Not going to be winter weather here,
but you will definitely notice the chill.
This front right now continues to bring
a flood threat for places like Abilene, San Angelo.
You can see that flood advisory pop up there near San Angelo.
Some of this rain is going to try to roll into Dallas and Fort Worth,
maybe into Austin during the late night hours.
I think a lot of it will kind of weaken
by the time this front gets here.
It's not going to have as much moisture to work with,
but notice by 8, 9 a.m. tomorrow, yes,
there could be a few downpours and maybe even a brief storm.
I think the best chance is going to be down around the coast,
places like Galveston and Lake Jackson,
but one of those showers could briefly roll over us here in Houston.
So just make sure you're ready for that.
All right, by lunchtime, you'll need the jacket because the wind
is going to be whipping and the temperatures are going to be falling,
likely stuck in the 60s and 70s during the afternoon.
and with those gusts blowing in out of the north close to 30,
35, maybe 40 miles per hour at times.
Rain chances are limited, like I said,
20% shot for tomorrow, but let's check out the wind.
It's not that bad tonight.
Going into tomorrow, right behind this front,
those gusts jump up to 20, 30, 35 miles per hour,
and you can see tomorrow afternoon it is pretty gusty across the area.
So, weather where you live,
it is a much different setup tomorrow in Pasadena.
Temps hanging out in the 70s all day long.
Tomorrow, you're only up to the low 70s even during
the hottest part of the day.
in Katy, if you make it up to 71, 72, hey, that is going to be
about it because that front will be rolling in.
So enjoy the cool down. In fact, the coldest of
the weather is going to be Saturday morning, Sunday morning,
low 50s for Houston. But if you're in the
Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville, College Station,
Livingston, plan on 40s. That's what I said. You
may need the boots, the sweaters, the jackets.
You haven't needed them for a while, but time to make
a little wardrobe change.
Make sure you're ready to go because it will be chilly, but we do start
to heat things right back up as we go into next week.
