Video Summary
AI GeneratedA significant cold front is arriving tonight, bringing a dramatic shift from summer heat to fall-like conditions. Residents can expect a sharp drop in temperatures, decreased humidity, and a wind advisory with gusts up to 50 mph. While most areas will see light rain, some heavier rainfall is possible in the western Hill Country.
Okay, it's almost here.
Big changes on the way.
The cold front we've been talking
about all week long is coming tonight.
Now, I showed you this earlier.
I feel like we didn't have a lot of time to really look at it.
But up north, they're feeling that front already.
So it's already there.
They've got some of that cooler air mass over them.
60s compared to us down here, 80s and 90s.
Now, I'm going to show you the change in temperatures.
I know the colors are a little wonky.
But in general, just look at those numbers.
Abilene is down 22 degrees.
11 in Lubbock.
like one degree middling cuz they're just starting to feel it.
But obviously, that whole mass of colder air is gonna reach us and
bring us the same changes.
So cooler temperatures, less humidity,
feeling a lot more like fall, but
a few other things are coming with it.
One, winds are gonna pick up.
So we do have a wind advisory in place for everyone.
That's because we could see wind gusts
that reach up to 40 to 50 miles per hour.
As the front gets closer to us, the winds are gonna start to increase.
So it starts at 4 AM, goes until 7 PM.
So basically late tonight into your day tomorrow.
That's when we're gonna start to notice windy conditions.
We're also gonna get some rainfall.
Now as far as the heavier amounts,
it does look like it's gonna be outside of our viewing area,
but we are getting clipped just kind of on the edges
of the hill country for us,
where we could see some heavy rain.
Look how close it is though.
So there's that line of storms and showers
slowly getting closer to our area.
Looks like tonight is when we're gonna start
to see some of that rain.
Now as it moves over us,
it looks like it's gonna be a lot less intense
what they're seeing just to the northwest right now nothing going
on on our satellite radar i
mentioned that we could see it getting on the edge of the area
so right here this is where we could
see excessive rainfall chances now models aren't
really giving much up there they're maybe saying
an inch a few of them an inch or two
but overall most of us are staying on the lower side when it
comes to rain backing out you can see where
they're already seeing some of those storms and
showers that's the area that's expected to get
a lot more of that heavy rainfall action but here's
here's one of the models just to show you.
So that line of storms and showers I
just showed you going to approach us.
It looks like around 10, 11, we're going to start to see it.
You can see it's a bit heavier,
right where I mentioned on the edge there.
Then as it moves through and with the rest of us start to see it,
we're not seeing so much of that red and orange,
which means lighter rainfall.
This lasts overnight and into the first half of your Friday.
But it starts to slow down as we get to the later points.
As far as totals go, so here's four different models just to show you.
And you can tell by all of them, it's a little bit higher,
right where I pointed out on the edge.
Most of us, though, it looks like we're staying around
a quarter of an inch or less than that.
So it's not really heavy rainfall for a majority of the area,
just if you're very far west.
There's a chance you can see an inch, maybe two.
Okay, and of course, it's going to change your temperatures.
So right now, it's still hot out there.
You can see the colors, though, in that corner.
It's going to change things very soon.
92 degrees for our high today, but this is going
to fast forward through tonight.
So around midnight, we're still seeing 60s, 70s,
but you can tell that air mass starting to come
in. And by the time you get to your morning
and you're waking up, you're getting ready for the
day, 50s and 60s. And then we don't warm up much from there.
I actually have us staying in the
low 70s for our highs, upper 60s even.
And then the next mornings, 40s and 50s for those morning
lows. So big changes. Don't forget the winds.
Don't forget a little rainfall, especially if
you're out west, it could be more intense.
And then of course, temperatures going down and also
the humidity going down too
so we're suddenly going to feel a lot more like fall we've got 60s
for our highs even for tomorrow and saturday
and then 70s and then those mornings 40s and 50s
wow it's gonna be a big change tomorrow's gonna
be a whole different story for us different story
you can wear your sweater i know you're excited hoodie
his hoodie you can wear your hoodie 49 i
haven't seen 40s in it has been a while
for us yeah i think it's since before summer yeah yeah
Yeah, there you go.
All right.
Get ready.
We'll hope for it.
Thank you, Leslie.
Cheers.
