I was hearing things from the PGA Tour
about how they were going to structure this with Liv,
and it sounded so bad.
It was horrendous.
Just think about this.
Can you give us like one?
Yes, absolutely.
Okay, all right, give us a couple.
This is what we want.
This is what we want right now.
So what's the dude's name from Saudi?
What was the guy's name?
Yasser Al-Rumayyan?
Yasser.
So Yasser was going to put up all the cash
for like a Liv PGA Tour sanctioned event,
and they were going to have X amount
of these events throughout the calendar
year. There was a
lot of things that happened over the last three years, but
this was one of the things
that was kind of on the
possibility or on the radar
of intertwining in
the schedule of like, all right,
how are we going to get these guys together?
And they
were going to have Scottie Scheffler,
you were going to have a
Victor Hovland, a Colin Morikawa,
Justin Thomas, and they were all
going to be captains and they were going to pick their team
and they're going to have the Liv guys
play on their team and the U.S. guys pick
and play on their teams whatever and i was just sitting
here listening to this and i'm like
so you're telling me that these guys are finishing up
playing a stretch of Bay Hill Players Championship
and wherever you want to say like three three
week in a row run where they're just gas now you're going
to see Scottie Scheffler show up to
playing a a exhibition team event
and he's gonna have to do it how many times a year he's like x
you know it could be four to six
or something like that, I was like no chance that these guys are
gonna do this it it just it what was going
to eventually happen was that if it was if that
was something that was uh either mandatory
or something that was too hard to pass up because
the money was too good it was going to affect
and hurt so many tour events and of guys of like hey
this is a week that that i kind of like you just can't turn down
the money to go and play and next
thing you know it's like you have four to six events
that you might play on the PGA Tour season
of a let's say it's a Honda or a Valspar Cognizant apologies
um or an Amex wherever it is like these
are the events that these guys like to mix into their schedules
and now that they were going to
have to go and and play at these events where it's
just exhibition live first PGA where i don't know
how it was going to work and i'm just saying like man
this is so bad it's just like nobody was going
to like it and it would have been cool maybe the first week
but past that people would have been
like this is so dumb what's going
on with professional golf these guys are just making
so much money and like we have lost the plot
and that's like where we were potentially heading it
with a possibility of working with LIV PGA together
that it's it's wild and it's also
it's like man what a bullet we dodged
and we're looking at the way that this thing's being
reformatted and what's happening in lieu
of that in the offseason thank goodness this is this is
where we've ended up because for me i just i don't want
to be too critical of some various like team
stuff that's popped up you know over the last couple years
and i appreciate the the desire for
innovation and and tapping into new markets
and you know there's the cliche version of growing
the game but there is one that really is interested
in trying to find new people and bring them to the
game of golf in a way that they find interesting i applaud
that but we know which team events we
care about like that doesn't have
to be said out loudly like we we already have those things
established
