Beijing Just Fast-Tracked Its Moon Base — the Way You Only Do When You've Found Something Serious..
China's Chang'e-7 is on the launch pad this month, aimed at the one thing that decides whether a permanent moon base can ever exist: is there water ice frozen in the lunar south pole's permanently shadowed craters, and can a machine actually reach it? While America's landers keep tipping over on that same terrain and Artemis slips toward 2028, Beijing already has the record — and a treaty loophole — to hold the ground once its robot confirms the ice is real.
