ThinkNode Off-Grid Comms Gear By Elecrow

I’m building out an off-grid communications system using ThinkNode Meshtastic hardware, and in this video we’re looking at three different pieces of that network: the ThinkNode M6, M3, and M4.
Rather than looking at these as isolated gadgets, I’m interested in how each device can fill a different role inside a larger communications setup.
ThinkNode M6 — larger base/stationary node for extending the network
ThinkNode M3 — compact field tracker that can be attached to gear, a vehicle, backpack, or other mobile equipment
ThinkNode M4 — portable Meshtastic node with additional power-bank functionality for a mobile setup
The bigger idea is creating layers of communication that don’t depend entirely on cellular service. Meshtastic gives these devices the ability to communicate over LoRa and relay messages through a mesh network, making them interesting for rural properties, outdoor use, preparedness, travel, and off-grid communications.
This is an overview of how I’m integrating these devices into my own communications system. More testing, configuration, range experiments, and real-world Meshtastic content will follow.
