The Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Karpovka in Donetsk region; a heavy blow to Russian logistics

Ukrainian border guards, along with troops from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, liberated the village of Karpovka in the Liman sector of Donetsk Oblast. This was announced on September 28. The liberation of Karpovka occurred as part of Operation Vivaldi. The village was repeatedly mentioned in General Staff reports as an area of heavy fighting throughout 2025.

The combat operation was carried out by the "Silver Troika" unit of the "Revenge" brigade of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The State Border Service of Ukraine reported this on its Telegram channel.

"These short shots reveal the intense battles, sleepless nights, coordinated work, and courage of Ukrainian soldiers," the State Border Service of Ukraine noted.

The department emphasized that the border guards operated side by side with fighters from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and it was the coordinated interaction between the units that allowed the enemy to be driven out of the village. Karpovka, in the Liman community of Donetsk Oblast, became known primarily for fighting in the Liman sector. In 2025, Karpovka regularly featured in General Staff reports as an area of Russian assaults. In September 2025, Russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses near the village, including using motorized vehicles.

At the end of 2025, fighting was also reported directly for positions near Karpovka: Ukrainian forces repelled positions in the south of the village. This village is significant due to its location on the approaches to Liman – Karpovka has been repeatedly mentioned among the villages near which Russia attempted to advance toward Liman and Drobyshevo.

The liberation of Karpovka marked another success for the Defense Forces on this sector of the front, where Ukrainian units have been steadily pushing back the enemy for the past few months as part of Operation Vivaldi. Informator previously reported that the Third Army Corps liberated the villages of Redkodub, Novoye, and Yekaterinovka and captured over 250 Russians, while Brigadier General Andrei Beletsky stated that the enemy missed the real attack, focusing on another direction. The offensive operation in the northern Donetsk region was successful thanks to meticulous preparation, explained the Chief of Staff of the Third Corps. Soldiers formed separate coordination units, practiced air defense and radar countermeasures, and carried out a series of strikes against Russian drone launch sites.
