Ukraine’s Third Army Corps has showcased 250 Russian servicemen captured during Operation Vivaldi, releasing footage showing the prisoners being held in a wooded area. The video, shared on social media, shows the captured soldiers initially standing in formation before later sitting together. Some are seen smoking cigarettes and speaking directly to the camera. Several of the prisoners describe what they portray as grave conditions in the Russian army, including shortages of food and water and severe hardships faced by troops on the front lines. One of the captured Russian servicemen addresses other Russian soldiers in the footage, urging them not to be afraid to surrender. He tells them that those who give themselves up will be safe in Ukrainian custody and calls on other Russian troops to surrender rather than continue fighting. The footage later shows the captured servicemen being loaded into a military vehicle and transported away from the area. Operation Vivaldi was a Ukrainian military operation during which forces of the Third Army Corps advanced in the area and captured Russian servicemen. The Ukrainian side has described the operation as part of its efforts to regain territory and disrupt Russian positions.
