News broke of large-scale sabotage carried out by the "Freedom of Russia" underground in many cities of the occupying country. The guerrillas took advantage of the situation that had developed throughout Russia as a result of regular missile and drone attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on oil refineries and oil depots. The occupiers had to establish oil supply logistics via rail, which crisscrosses Russia, making them a convenient and widespread target. As reported on the GUR website , underground agents infiltrated relevant enemy structures, obtained secret information, and identified weak points where strikes would be most painful and inflict maximum damage. During the next stage of Operation Barrel, partisans reached the target locations and detonated dozens of tanker cars. The sabotage was carried out in Nizhny Novgorod, Novokuznetsk, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Novosibirsk, and other cities. As a result of the operation, dozens of trains were damaged, 10,000 tons of petroleum products were destroyed, Russia's logistics suffered significant losses, and supplies throughout the country were disrupted .
In this case in 2026, Russia made little progress in Ukraine, yet continued to update its official maps and claim new territories. Russian maps show Russia in control of Kostiantynivka and Dobropillia, as well as being located west of Kramatorsk. Here, the Russians exaggerate their advance by approximately 18 kilometers. Almost every day, videos appear confirming the presence of Ukrainian troops in the northern part of Kostiantynivka. The claim that Dobropillia is surrounded is also false. Zaporizhzhia direction. According to Russian maps, they advanced 16 kilometers further in this sector than the actual front line. Here, too, the Russian side ignores the successful counterattacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Furthermore, the Russians draw a non-existent "cauldron" there and claim to control part of Orekhovo, which is false. The main question is different: why is Russia doing this? Is this propaganda for a domestic audience? An attempt to demonstrate that the Russian army continues to advance beyond the country's borders? Or do Russian military personnel and propagandists truly believe they control the territories they mark on their maps?
