One of Russia's largest oil refineries, Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez in Yaroslavl, was shut down after a Ukrainian drone strike. It sustained critical damage. This was reported by Reuters, citing industry sources.
A drone strike destroyed the AVT-3 primary oil refining unit. Its capacity exceeds 17,000 tons of oil per day, representing approximately 40% of the plant's total capacity. Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Evraev confirmed that the oil refinery was damaged. "65 drones were shot down. There were no injuries. The oil refinery was damaged, and firefighters are actively extinguishing the fire ," Evraev wrote. The AVT-3 unit is one of three main primary oil refining units at the plant. Another unit, the AT-4, can process approximately 11,000 tons of oil per day, while the AVT-4's capacity is approximately 14,000 tons. Meanwhile, AVT-4 was already undergoing repairs following damage sustained in a previous drone attack on August 28. Following this latest strike, the plant's refining capacity became even more challenging. The attack's consequences have already impacted fuel supplies. According to market participants, no products from the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery were offered for domestic exchange trading on Thursday. Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez is jointly controlled by Rosneft and Gazprom Neft. The company has the capacity to process up to 300,000 barrels of oil per day, or approximately 15 million tons per year.

Media previously reported that Ukrainian drones bombed an oil refinery in Yaroslavl.
Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Evrayev stated that Russian air defenses were attempting to repel the air attack. He then announced that, "for security reasons, traffic on the outskirts of Yaroslavl heading toward Moscow has been blocked." He made no comment on the situation at the Yaroslavl oil refinery.
Residents of Yaroslavl report numerous explosions. They are receiving text messages warning of air raids. Ukrainian drones are said to have attacked the local oil refinery, which can process approximately 15 million tons of crude oil into petroleum products annually. Earlier, Ukrainian drones attacked strategic facilities in Russia's Samara region. According to preliminary reports, an oil refinery in Syzran was damaged in the attack. Photos and videos have already surfaced online showing Ukrainian drones attacking strategic facilities in Syzran. It is claimed that the Ukrainian drones "visited" an oil refinery that supplies fuel to the Russian military. Apparently, the attack was successful. "There's fire there, there are explosions... Look, there's something in the sky," comment residents of Syzran, showing the landings.
