Three Ukrainians fighting for the occupying Russian army were captured in Chasiv Yar . The 24th King Daniel Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that the prisoners came from temporarily occupied Crimea and the left bank of the Kherson Oblast.
Like the Russian prisoners, the Ukrainians said their commanders allegedly promised them service far from the front lines.
"They didn't want to fight for their country, so they went to fight for someone else's," commented the 24th Brigade. The fate of these prisoners may differ from that of the Russian servicemen. The brigade reminded that if the investigation proves their guilt of treason or other crimes against Ukraine, the court will determine their liability. According to the unit, they could face up to 15 years in prison.
Recall, the Konstantinovka sector in the Donetsk region is the most intense on the front. The main problem for the occupiers is that for the third year running, they have been unable to fully capture the town of Chasiv Yar, a key staging area for their further advance on Kostyantynivka. Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, says: "This information is definitely not being reported to Bunker Führer Putin. That's why we're hearing absurd things from Putin yesterday about the situation at the front, about the supposed advance of Russian troops. This isn't true, because Chasiv Yar alone has been defended for years. Of course, the Russians are increasing the pressure here because Chasiv Yar is the route to Konstantinovka. And Konstantinovka is the key to further advancement through the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration ," he said. Bratchuk stated that the Russian army has not made any significant progress in Konstantinovka to date, despite the widespread use of infiltration tactics and increased air strikes. "Konstantinivka currently serves as a tie-down zone for Russian troops, which the Russian command could otherwise redeploy to equally important areas—the Dobropillya or Slavyansk directions, where the situation is also very difficult. Therefore, the defense of Chasovy Yar and Konstantinivka is extremely important to us," Bratchuk concluded. As a reminder , the battle for Konstantinovka is characterized by its lowland location. This significantly complicates the Ukrainian forces' positions, as the occupiers control the commanding heights in Toretsk and Chasiv Yar.
