Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused European institutions of bias during a meeting with representatives of Muslim religious organizations and international conferences in Baku. He said that the peace process with Armenia was continuing, but also stressed that Azerbaijan would increase its military power .
The meeting was attended by members and observers of the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States, co-organizers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference, and representatives of the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples of the Caucasus. Aliyev accused the Council of Europe and the European Parliament of supporting Armenia and applying double standards towards Azerbaijan, calling the European Parliament a "den of corruption."

The President drew a connection between Azerbaijan's restoration of full control over Karabakh in September 2023 and the subsequent decision against the Azerbaijani delegation. According to his presentation, that decision was a response to Baku's operation. Aliyev expressed hope that the peace process with Armenia will be long-lasting. At the same time, he said that the past war and devastation will not be forgotten, and that Azerbaijan will remain vigilant on security issues.
The President presented military power as one of the guarantees of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In his opinion , the emergence of the power factor in international relations necessitates Azerbaijan to increase its defense capabilities.
The meeting also touched upon the expansion of regional conflicts. Aliyev stressed the importance of joint efforts to maintain peace in the Turkic world and the Caucasus . Aliyev claimed that an undeclared war was being waged against the Islamic world, and called Islamophobia an integral part of it. He pointed to the solidarity of Muslim countries as the main response to this pressure.
"Those insulting facts against our values, against the holy Quran, discrediting the Muslim world, equating it with terrorism. Do you think that these things happen by chance? No! This is a purposeful policy. What should we put in front of this? But our unity! Therefore, this call for unity is not just a slogan.
“Azerbaijan is one of the very few Muslim countries that participates in European organizations. Therefore, we know what is happening there. As a member of the Council of Europe, we have faced, are facing and will probably face these injustices. This undeclared smear campaign against us will never stop. Why? Because we do not bow down to anyone and will not bow down, we speak our mind, we protect our national identity, we protect our way of life. We do not allow some tendencies that are alien to our people and religion to take root in Azerbaijan. I have expanded the scope of our meeting a little, that is, simply to substantiate my views with evidence. So again, this main message is that we must all strive for unity. I repeat, the words of religious figures have a special meaning for all Muslim countries", he said.
The President also announced that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit will be held in Baku next year. He called on religious leaders to support peace and cooperation within communities.
