Racing To Clean Up Thousands Of Acorns Before The Dogs EAT Them!

Today we are up a little earlier than usual because Jamie and I have to take a quick road trip to Gaylord. My Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has been at the dealership getting fixed for a misfire and a transmission flush, and I am so excited to finally bring it back home to Alpena. Having my own car back means I can finally run errands and bring supplies to Jamie while he works on the house renovation! On the way back, I stopped at Hobby Lobby to check out their spooky season decorations and maybe find some early fall truck decor. I actually walked out with a cute dog towel and a silicone cake pan for making homemade treats for Kira and Eleanor!
Once I got home, it was playtime with the dogs! Kira and Eleanor found the absolute best giant stick in the yard, and it became an instant game of tug. It is basically a flirt pole made completely out of nature. But we also had to tackle a huge yard chore. Our massive tree is dropping thousands of acorns everywhere. We use this amazing nut roller tool to pick up the acorns because they can hurt the grass and we definitely do not want the dogs eating them. Eleanor tried to dig one up to eat, but thankfully she knows how to drop it when I ask!
Later on, we took the girls for a nice evening walk, but we had to make a special deal with Kira just to get her collar on. She demands chest scratches before she lets me put her gear on her! During the walk, Kira went into full hunting mode when she heard something moving in the tall grass. We are pretty sure she found a big toad or frog hiding right there in the ditch. To wrap up this beautiful day, we stayed up late to watch the lunar eclipse turning the moon a stunning shade of orange. Life is short, Make memories with your dogs!
