The Bruins Have Found a Hidden Gem...
Sep 7, 2026
The Boston Bruins have already found a hidden gem this season.
After their most recent draft, one fourth round pick has gotten some serious attention in his first game.
We're going to be breaking it down, as well as going over another trade rumor, which has not stopped all season.
And we're going to go over what this means for the Boston Bruins.
Folks, we have a lot to break down here in today's video.
Before we do get into it, if you haven't already, be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
The season is just around the corner, and we're going to have all the content coming out for you here every single day.
You will not want to miss it, and even though we're still a little bit away from the season, things are seriously picking up.
So, like I said, if you want to stay up to date, be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
I just want to say a big thank you, guys, to all your support as well throughout this offseason.
It's coming to an end, and it's a very, very exciting time to join the Boston Bruins community.
Now, I want to get straight into this, because the Bruins' fourth round pick from this most recent season,
Matthej Kotka, has scored on his first shot, first game, and he's gotten his first goal in the KHL.
This was also a play which was just a very, very high-level goal.
I mean, obviously, it wasn't just him. It was the entire line, but the setup of the puck dropping out to him in front of the net,
closing in on it, and a beautiful goal.
This has gotten the attention of just about every single Bruins fan in the Twitter community,
and we're seeing already a lot of talk about not just the Dean Lartineau, the James Hagans of the world at this point,
but we're already starting to go through the process of hearing a lot of these new names,
even going as far as, like I said, the first game of the year, and I want to do a little background history on it,
because obviously, you know, we can look at a player like this and say, one goal, yeah, it's one shot,
but he has had a history of being a goal scorer, a player that really has a high level of shooting, of scoring.
He's just a skilled hockey player from his basics, and you look at his career all throughout the MHL, KHL.
Now, this season, you know what ruins a great outfit really fast? An old beat-up belt that doesn't fit right.
Most guys are still wearing the belts, stretched-out holes that either pin to your waist or snag,
and just throw off your whole look.
That's why I'm excited to have Anson Belt & Buckle as the sponsor of today's video.
Instead of holes, Anson uses the micro-adjustable track system with quarter-inch increments,
so your belt fits perfectly every single time.
Once you experience that kind of fit and comfort, trust me, you will never want to wear a regular belt again.
I've been wearing mine non-stop, and honestly, it's the best I've ever owned.
Once you try it, trust me, you'll never go back to old belts, and if you're wondering why you should trust them,
this company that has a proudly family-owned and operated has earned over 40,000 five-star reviews
with a lifetime guarantee. They stand behind in every product they make, and once you get one,
you will see why. Because Anson Belt & Buckle is sponsoring today's video, when you click the link
in the description or scan the QR code to build a box set, you will get two bonus pieces, a buckle
and a strap completely free. That's three buckles and three straps, which can be mixed and matched
into nine unique belt combos all in one. It's an exclusive deal you will not get anywhere else,
so click the link, build your set, and upgrade your belt game today, and thank you Anson Belt & Buckle
for sponsoring this video. About 31 points in 36 games, 24 points in 27 games, 15 and 18 in the
playoffs last season, he is a very, very interesting player when we look at his game because of how good
he actually is when it comes to his puck control. Now, once again, still super easy, lots to consider,
lots to really look at before we see a player like Matt Makotkov come over to the NHL, but there's
one thing that are really, you know, looking in the right direction for this Bruins team regarding
a lot of these younger prospects is that the pool is really refreshed now. That's one thing that I
think, you know, we had to go through a pretty interesting time with some names like Jorge
Merklov and Fabian Lysel, but it's a brand new look now when it comes down to prospects. I feel
like Conor Ryan sums it up very, very well right here. A lot of eyes will understandably be on
Luchino Zellerton-Simpson this year, but both Matt Makotkov and Kirill Yemelyanov
excuse me, apologize how I'm pronouncing that, I know it's most certainly wrong, could be poised
to rise up the rankings of Bruins prospects this winter, especially with the strong seasons in
Russia. A lot of upside with these two, so like I've been saying, we've been speaking about Luchino,
Zellerton, Cooper Simpson, James Hagan, even Fraser Mitten for the last, you know, calendar year about
going to the beginning of last year, but there is a lot more names to look at this season and over
the next couple when it looks at these Bruins prospects and what the plan is going to be over
the next couple of years, because they need to have a new plan. They cannot do the exact same
thing that they did with Fabian Lysell and they know that, so a lot of eyes to keep on a lot of
these very good names. Now with all of this, you know, you can look at the player's gait, you can
look at all of this, but a comparison is something that really makes a lot of sense and when we look
at the draft this year, of course, you're looking at him as that fourth round pick, 104th overall.
You see a lot of names as well here that are slowly starting to trickle into a lot of the
just about every single day, but for Matt J. Kotkov in specific, the ranking that he was
given and the scouting report when it comes to the draft was very, very, very good because
we look at the comparison first, compared to the late Johnny Gooden and we know how good he was
throughout his NHL career and he was, as you see there, a superstar producer. He was someone that
was a very sneaky, shifty player with a shot, his playmaking ability, all of that really combined
into such a small stature for him. It made him the player he was, the player that he was capable of
being his entire career and look at Matt J. Kotkov, you know, still, those are some pretty big shoes
to fill, especially in the comparison, but it makes a lot of sense when you're looking at the
height between the two, which is, I mean, just two inches, Kotkov 5'11", Johnny Gooden 5'9",
but Matt J. Kotkov is 154 pounds. He is not heavy whatsoever. Kind of fits the bill there with how
Johnny Gooden was able to play his game. He was not a strong, strong guy on the puck, but he was
able to plant his feet, not get knocked off the puck as easy as someone of his stature should
and that's really the big thing that Matt J. Kotkov needs to fix for his game, but once again,
his first KHL year, there is a lot, a lot of experience he's going to get playing in the KHL
for the first time and that was the big part about his scouting report here. You see this here
from Zach Egan. Kotkov is a lethal shooter who is very good at getting lost in the offensive zone
coverage. He finds quiet areas of the ice, which allows him to receive passes in shooting areas.
His shot is heavy and his quick release, Kotkov's strength, is his biggest flaw. He gets muscled off
the puck and loses quite a few board battles, so when you look at this and you take out any name,
you may think this was Johnny Goudreau earlier on in his career and I mean, comparing this kind
of play style to what you're going to learn this year in the KHL compared to how we saw Johnny
Goudreau do that through college to his way to the NHL, it's always possible and I mean, I'll go
back to the comparison very, very quickly. You look up on the bottom there, the star probability, they
both started out at 50 percent. The NHL probability at 57 there kind of makes the ranking speak for
itself, but right now, this is a very good comparison for Matt Kotkov and I'm excited to
see what he can do in the KHL this year, so folks, let me know because when we look at the depth chart
and the offense coming to this Bruins team for the next couple of seasons, we know very, very well
that it is going to be something that the plan is not at all solved yet. There are so many names, so
many young names, new names that are going to be making a push that right now, at least, it's something
we're going to only have to wait and see with, so give me your thoughts on that down below and how
this all plays out, but folks, one more thing before we do clue this video up is when we look at, of course,
the Bruins as a whole, we've seen a lot of trade reports, we got JJ Paterka, a lot of people were
asking more questions, NHL trade rumors put this out, I didn't want to make a full video out of it
because it is an NHL trade, you know, not the most legit, but always have some sort of insight from
wherever it may be. Shane Wright to Boston has once again been in conversation and part of the
rumor that is more interesting than anything else is the price. They have it listed as right for Casey
Middlestat one for one. They say, I think that Seattle still says no and, you know, most likely
will, but this is something that, you know, if it's on the table, if this is an option, I'd be very inclined
to see how that would work and take it as a whole because if we look at Casey Middlestat, he's in
the final year of the deal, 5.75 million. I mean, he's a guy that I think anybody would really
kind of ship out if you can get a name like Shane Wright multiple years younger and a lot more
potential, I would say. So give me your thoughts on that down below and how this depth chart is
really going to make all of this play out in the future if this is an option that you would go with
as well, but folks, that is all I have here in this video. If you did enjoy, give it a like, hit the
sub button as well. Once again, give me all your thoughts on this down below, but I'm signing out.
Thank you for watching. Hope you have a great day.
