Bruins Give SURPRISING Update.... This Is Huge | Boston Bruins News
Oct 20, 2026
Marco Sturm and the Boston Bruins have dropped
a surprising update ahead of tomorrow's game
as Nikita Zdorov is still not yet back
in the lineup according to the practice lines.
We're going to be breaking it down,
going over what this means for not just Zdorov,
but this Bruins team as a whole,
because after being a healthy scratch for a game this season
already, the idea was going to be he would be back as soon as possible.
but that is, according to Marco Sturm, not necessarily the case.
We're going to be breaking down, like I
said, what this means for the Bruins,
but what Zdorov has to do to get back in the lineup,
and why he's not back in there just yet.
Before we do jump into this video,
though, folks, if you haven't already,
be sure to drop us up here on the channel.
Your guys' support's been incredible.
I appreciate all you guys for tuning in,
and we're on the road to 9,000 subscribers.
Your support's been incredible.
Well, appreciate all you guys for tuning
in to these videos every single day and the support
that we've gotten over the past couple of days, especially.
So be sure to stick around because we have a lot more coming.
But I want to get into it because you're looking
at this right here from Marco Sturm earlier
today in Dallas before practice.
Today's line don't mean anything for tomorrow.
We will see.
We will talk about it and sleep through it.
But these lines did not have Zdorov in there.
And you see this here from Bill Fraser.
If we go ahead and look at the full lineup,
Zdorov still on the fourth pairing, which
would be ultimately the healthy scratch.
It's him and Connor Clifton, as well as Pavel Zach,
who is still injured as far as we've
seen from today's lines.
But this kind of took me by surprise because,
you know, we spoke about it in yesterday's
video that Nikita Zdorov has not been bad this season necessarily,
but his penalty taking
has really been the killer for him and this Bruins team.
And even though they're on a win streak,
we want to make sure that this win streak does continue.
And if Zdorov's taking penalties and, you know,
undisciplined penalties, that will limit those opportunities.
But for a player like Zdorov, how important he has been,
it's very tough to take him out of a lineup like this.
And especially for multiple games, because he's a leader in the room.
And, you know, he expects to be in this lineup every day,
but knows that that's not necessarily always going to be the case.
if someone's a liability you know their days could
be very well numbered for being an everyday
player now it's a bit different with Zdorov but you
also see Marco Sturm say this I really believe
he's going to be even better when he comes back
so I'm pretty confident that he will do that so
it doesn't really seem like Marco Sturm
is necessarily rushing to get him back in the
lineup this Bruins team has a very deep defensive core
and even without Zdorov in it they can
really hold their own they can play a comfortable
and confident game and we saw that even with Zdorov while the
Zdorov was a healthy scratch but with those current blue lines
and with the current uh you know look
overlooking this team right now looking like it's going
to be at least a very similar or the same
lineup and this is before the edit
so takes Zdorov out you throw in um well of course you throw
in Brendan Brennan up the earlier lines
and Jonathan Aspro in the bottom Matt Fraser up
the second line, Minton up in the first,
Zaka out, the team is capable of doing what they
need to to continue winning,
and for someone like Zdorov to be out for a second game, you
know, you don't want to push it too, too far,
because he's an important player, and I mean,
he's not someone that's going to go out and score,
he's not someone like that, but when
you're looking at his defense, his grit,
the blocks, the physicality, he's a guy that will
eat minutes, he'll be out there as long as he needs to,
he can stay sound defensively
when he's keeping discipline
and I think that's the big thing that Marco Sturm is really trying
to drill into his head
because you know Zdorov he's a reliable player you know we see him out
there in just about every single game
and when he's on he's on but when he's off it's really
just because the physicality you know gets put up
to just that little extra level where the
discipline goes out the window but even
though we didn't hear necessarily what it was for Marco
Sturm did end up speaking out about that,
and that being the reason why, and even with
this five-game win streak,
this doesn't necessarily make it so Zadorov needs to be back in the
lineup, because they're still winning,
and I mean, you look at these scores, 6-1, 5-1,
6-3, 4-2, 4-1, shoutout Jeremy Swayman and Michael DiPietro,
by the way, because of that, but
with Zadorov being scratched,
it may open the door to some issues, and I'll touch on those
here in a little bit, but you see this little comment
from one of you guys on yesterday's
video keep the door up you know the Bruins need beef beef like him
and I mean you guys like the
comment as well seven likes on the comment
this is what exactly I think we all realize that the
Zadorov needs to be in the lineup for so I'm okay with sitting one game
but right now two in a row
you're throwing out the risk there with not having him in the line
because of the stuff that he does
provide so give me your thoughts on that down below
but if we also go ahead and look at this
Sturm referenced the penalties being the reason
for Zadorov being scratched and that came
from Adam Pellerin via Ty Anderson on Twitter.
And, you know, there was no other reason for it.
You know, Zadorov in his actual play has been fine.
He's been good.
But it's been the penalties that have been, luckily for the Bruins,
not the kicker for their games necessarily,
but it certainly puts the Bruins in a pretty stressful position
when you know you may be on the penalty kill several times a night.
And, you know, you need to be sure.
You need to be sound on defense, which we've seen from Zadorov before.
But before the game in LA,
this is what Marco Sturm said, the discipline part.
I think he needs to be smarter.
That's all what it is.
You know, there's nothing about his play in specific.
So, you know, the pressure's on now for Nikita Zadorov,
knowing that Marco Sturm isn't going
to be afraid to take him out of the lineup if he's taking penalties.
And if you go back and look at his season,
I mean, you're looking at the blocks, the
hits, the penalty minutes, 29 in eight games.
It's a bit more than we'd like to see regularly.
But, you know, you know what kind of player Zadorov is.
I think that really sums it.
up for me of my reasoning to get him back
in the lineup before things get a bit sticky before
things get a bit physical and he may not be out there
but there's more important and it's his
voice it's his presence all of that has a serious impact
on this Bruins team and we've seen it from
players mentioning him in the leadership roles
that this team currently possesses so you don't
want to keep him out too too long but you know
when you're looking at this as well another part
of this being said that you're looking
at what he brings physicality that's the thing the block
shots takeaways only one this season so far
which is not great but 11 giveaways 80th most in the
NHL and i mean that's kind of hard to put into perspective
but the hits bruins the bruins are
built on physicality they're getting more skilled
they're getting younger they're getting quicker
but when you go up a team i think there's
a few teams in the NHL you think about this when you
think of physicality to me
in my mind i go philly i go boston i go you know more recently
the Panthers but those are games where you need
to see your guys going you need to see your guys
being physical and Nikita Zadorov is always going
to bring that you don't want him to stop that
in his game whatsoever because
then you're losing the best part of him and you know Marco Sturm is
not discrediting that he's still a tremendous player
and leader for our team you want to make
sure that the best is for each player
and I think that you know you don't want to change Zdorov too
much I think at the end of the day is what I want
to want to point out now Zdorov did speak about it
this morning in practice and obviously
when you have 900 games in this league in 14 years
you don't want to be in this situation
and I feel like this is a good example of really
letting us know what Zdorov thinks
and being able to see what can what turnaround can come from this
because Zdorov can turn it around you know
the discipline is going to be there obviously don't
lose anything of the physicality
but don't throw out the elbows you know keep keep the elbows
tucked uh keep the stick down keep the you know
the gloves down all of that kind of stuff will
aid in getting him back in this lineup
but even with the crowded defense he still has to get in
there you know Asper was really not great to start
the season in uh in the preseason or in the
beginning of the year but Zdorov's not going to get
this lineup too much longer but I'm still kind
of you know questioning how long this may actually be the case
so folks give me your thoughts on this
down below because I think he's incredibly valuable
for this team and they can't afford to
Keep him out too, too much longer.
So, let me know down below.
What should Boston do with Zdorov?
Should they put him back in for tomorrow's game against Dallas?
Keep him out for one more, or make him earn his spot?
I really don't like the idea of C, but A or B,
in my mind, are the only two options.
So, give me your words down below,
but that is all I have here in this video.
