It's OVER ... SHOCKING Red Wings Trade Updates... | Red Wings News
Oct 23, 2026
We have multiple shocking Detroit Red Wings trade updates
as multiple trades are on the horizon
for this team, including, yes, Simon Edvinsson.
A brand new update revolving around him from a
new report from multiple insiders has revealed
that things are not going the way that all Red
Wings fans would have hoped.
But again, not only that, a new update on Dylan Larkin. His stance
has not changed and much more in this episode,
including a lot of people speculating that there
is a goaltending trade coming for the Detroit Red Wings.
We're going to break that down as a new
move has sparked a lot of rumors
and new reports continue to fly around this team. But before we
get into all of that, a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
And guys, thank you so much for
6,000 subscribers out here on the channel.
This channel has grown so quickly. We cannot thank you
enough. Thank you so much for the support on the channel,
the positive comments every day. I saw
everybody yesterday saying, you know,
I've been a Red Wings fan for 40 years and I watch your
channel every day so thank you so much for all the support
and mark and i are going to keep you
updated every single day on everything that is happening
so again the other day it was an
exciting game against the Seattle Kraken
and of course you know ultimately resulting in a loss but
we got to focus in again
on some new reports now dylan larkin reportedly has not
changed his trade status
or you know want to be traded whatsoever so according to frank
sarah valley if you were hoping if you're the red wings
or red wings fan which i think most
fans at this point are kind of accepting the fact
that he's going to be traded at some point
If you're hoping he was going to come back in,
kind of fit in the locker room and, you know, get reacclimated
with all his teammates and, you know, the camaraderie that comes
with that and everything was going to be all fine, that's not the case.
He still wants to be traded.
Now, he expanded his trade list yesterday to 10 teams,
so he's making it, quote-unquote, a little bit easier to be traded.
We heard yesterday in a report as well
that the organization and him kiss and made up.
That's apparently not the case, and obviously that was coming
from the organization to kind of smooth things over,
I think, a little bit through the media.
but you know this is a direct quote too we would like him to stay
but he wants to go to another
team big credit to Larkin for still playing with us he
is a good guy now it is you know true by all
reports he has expanded his trade list mark
and he's given 10 teams we talked about some of them
yesterday includes the Washington Capitals
the Utah Mammoth the New Jersey Devils and a couple
others including the obvious ones that we heard during
the summer um what do you make of this new
report and we'll get to Simon Edmondson in a second
because when i saw that report i was genuinely
upset this morning um but on Dylan Larkin it really does sound like
and John Buccigrossi said
a couple days ago it was going to happen within
the next week week and a half seems like we're
getting a lot closer here isn't it crazy
that this is a team where the biggest story is not
even the captain being stripped this is a guy
that still wants out of this organization and
to the credit I think a lot of fans
and probably the organization quietly want this just to be
done get it over with you see how Ottawa
was thriving they just booed the hell out of Brady
Tkachuk but that's a team that's on a tear right now
because they got rid of a captain that didn't
want to be there and the locker room got cleaned up i'm
not gonna say that Dylan Larkin is sitting
here and is a terrible guy and he's sitting in that locker room
and causing scenes but of course
this definitely weighs on people
and of course with Dylan Larkin standing on the stance of wanting
to be out of here the fact this is dragging
on that locker room can't be great i mean if you're
sitting next to a guy that used to be your captain your leadership
and you're seeing the reports come
out every day this guy still doesn't want to be here
and you see him kind of mosey into this
locker room maybe not having the best game
that can't be great for the young guys that's on the
team because there's a hell of a lot of them
and they're playing very well but also with this
series i wonder if this team started started hot
and went eight no did that chance or stance kind
of change at the end of it this is a team you gotta get
this trade done you gotta get it over
with you gotta pull the band-aid
and of course opening up more teams is a positive thing because
teams like utah have quite a bit of prospects in their pool
and draft picks to make moves like this
even if the red wings were 8-0 like you said i
don't think it would change because it's clear
to me with some of the teams put on that list
that he wants to go to a team that can win and
he do the least amount of work possible
or at least be involved in that right uh which i i think
you know some players i can understand
that but for dylan larkin the way that he's gone about
this trade request earlier in the summer i think
the biggest thing for me is the way it was gone
about was wrong right that is the way
that is the way i feel about it let me know in the comments
how you guys feel about it now we'll get back
into dylan larkin in a second because it plays into a
possible john gibson trade yes i just said
that so we'll get into that in a little bit and how
that factors into different teams
and what teams can make that work because we're hearing now
it might be a three-team deal to get a dylan larkin trade done
because for some reason they
thought it would be easier in season
to do that i don't know who came up with that great idea but
we have a new report on Simon Edvinsson, Mark, that i saw this morning
and it's from Elliot Freedman
now he said that the Detroit Red Wings
are finding it very hard to convince him to return to this
team now we've heard different reports they
do not want to trade him right all that type of stuff
they're trying to do damage control through
the media we've talked about it on this channel last
week hey we have no interest in trading him right
this player has been frustrated by this process so much
to the point that he no longer wants to return
this is a guy that bought his own insurance to
show up i think uh to show up to camp without a contract
which i don't think has ever been done
right that's how much he wanted to be involved
and then after that the process has frustrated
him so much to the point that he said i don't want
to play here at all i think a lot of this
has to do with the fact that the Red Wings might have
an internal cap going on because clearly
they don't want to pay him more than Mo Seider
which does not make sense in a rising cap world
the current day open your eyes if you're ownership
of this team things are different you're going to
have to pay him more because once Mo Seider's
contracts up you're going to be paying him
probably 20 million dollars right
so you have to pay him more that's not how this is going to work
so apparently and i think a lot of this by the way is not you know
so set in stone from either
party i think a lot of it is negotiation through the media of course
but it does sound like he was
so frustrated and disrespected by how this process has gone out
because you can debate the numbers
back and forth right you can come back
and negotiate those numbers back and forth but i
think the thing that caught Evanston off guard
is hey i showed up i wanted to be here you finally
got the GM in place we started talks
and now you're disrespecting me by saying you know i'm
worth something way less than what i'm actually worth
in today's market not three years ago or
whenever you sign you know most cider
to that contract oh you're telling me i'm worth way less
in today's market for what i am as a player now
but listen the biggest thing is and i want to know
the fans thoughts down in the comments as well
in my opinion this is the most pathetic thing coming
out of this franchise right now
is the fact that you have a young defenseman
that wants to be here, showed up to camp,
and you're still low-balling a guy like this.
The only other person that's doing this, of course,
is Nikitian, but do you know the difference?
Carolina did a damn thing this year,
and they went out and won a Stanley Cup.
They know they can do it without him.
This is a Red Wings team
that probably can't even do it with them,
with the way they've built this team,
but you have a better chance
if you have a young defenseman
that has shown to work with your top defenseman
on a team that wanted to be here long-term dearest again
this is kind of trickling down and we like
trying to be positive there's a lot
of positivity you have young guys you have prospect Trae Augustine
in the AHL you have all these things
but this is one of the most pathetically ran franchises that
we've seen in quite some time
and it continues to add up you're seeing you flyers are in on simon
Edmondson, you're seeing that this is a team that lowballed
and what was the offer six million
dollars from the cap roll
and the going rate is 10 plus million at the end of the day listen
there's so much coming out a lot of it like you said is a media tactic
but this is just a damn
sin that we're wasting away young players at the moment
and a lot of time you had multiple years
with a good core you made no pushes
no changes you annex trades if that's even true but at the
end of it with these reports i'm at a loss
for words that this is a legitimate thing happening
and not just a soap opera that we're watching on TV.
And Mark, you bring up some really good points.
And one thing that I was thinking about last night,
and then I saw this report and I wanted to bring this up
because it kind of aligns with what I was thinking about last night.
Apparently, according to Elliot Friedman,
the Carolina Hurricanes threatened
an offer sheet for Simon Edmondson, right?
Obviously, they lost Nikistan.
Well, they haven't lost him yet.
He's still in RFA, but he's still, you know, in there,
but he doesn't have a contract and offline.
And we don't know what's going to happen with that.
But apparently, they threatened an offer sheet.
this red wings organization isn't this smelling
a little bit like we're hoping that he got
offer sheeted or hoping that he still gets offer sheeted
so we don't have to pay him and then we
get compensation instead of just trading him
for nothing we get the draft pick compensation
doesn't smell maybe a little bit like
that hey we don't really want to pay him we're hoping that
somebody kind of offer sheets him right could it
be that i don't know maybe i'm crazy let me know
in the comments how you feel about that but i think it's
a little it's it's absurd and i could
agree with you right like the dylan larkin stuff
is bad the ownership stuff is bad but the fact
that you had a grand slam sitting in front of you it
was the easiest move almost easier than the
Alex DeBrincat stuff right, which was a bonus
and a little win for the organization, this was a
grand slam for you to knock out of the park
and you and you ruined it, you absolutely ruined it
I can understand coming into a negotiation, right? I'm
not, I'm not lost on the fact that you come to
the negotiation, the player goes, "I want 11 million"
you go, "Great, sounds good, sign here." Like it doesn't
work like that, I get that, but for the player
to go, "I'm worth 11 million," for the player by all
analytics that we've talked about on the channel
to be worth 11 million and for you to come into
the room and say, "We're gonna give you eight,"
is a slap in the face, it really is to the player, it
really is because it's not even close right
and he wants to be here long term and he showed up
the cap, it's unbelievable that it got
to this point. Now Mark, I want to talk a little bit about
Dylan Larkin again because there is a few barriers around
the league, the cap, it's hard for certain
teams to make that trade according
to multiple reports, apparently the Kings would like to get
in on that, uh, but you know Elliot Freeman's under
or sorry, Pierre LeBrun's understanding is that the
Kings are not on the list. Now we know that you know
the Minnesota Wild are on the list, they would
have to make the money work. Dylan Larkin carries
an 8.7 million dollar cap hit, this would have been
easier to get done in the early stages of the summer
when not all the teams were set and everyone
had their roster set, now you have to move a lot
of pieces around uh another uh thing that i think
is pretty interesting is apparently the Red Wings
are now looking at younger uh centers so that is
something that lends to maybe
the New Jersey Devils it's something that lends to maybe the
Minnesota Wild Mark what do you make
of this because it sounds like they're almost preparing
people to be okay with a Minnesota Wild trade package
that includes the guys that we were
talking about earlier in the offseason including
Daniel Jürgenson now he's a great young center
we don't know exactly what he's going to be you know
when he's 26 years old let's say but i think
he's a great young center but it almost feels like we're headed
in that direction i mean Dylan
Larkin is at some point here very soon going
to get traded uh the big thing is sorry my mic was
muted there the big thing with this as well
is you're looking at multiple guys and this is teams
that are going in on them the Kings
of very interesting one but probably not in the mix
unless Dylan Larkin moves this to maybe 12 teams 15 teams
but with the way it's taken we're what
four months in and he's only up to 10 teams
so at the end of the day looking at the teams that
coming in the Minnesota Wild if that package was there
and it was even a question why is this a
team that had to wait four months let it know
and make this drag on teams are getting in teams
probably know the Red Wings are desperate to move
on despite the reports of them kissing behind the
scenes and getting you know everything set up
perfectly where they're fine being together
this is a damn team that looking at it now it feels like
the value of this set of first line
center for Dylan Larkin us as fans knew that was insane
not a single person was going to pay a
first line center for a first line center
because guess what you go nowhere with it and you're in
the same situation so now looking at this it feels like they look
their whole response was hey we're
not going to get that outstanding value
because it's unrealistic so let's go back to what everyone
was originally offering maybe there's teams
that are going to have a harder time like you said
trading before cap hits were added
this offseason july 1st you knew this was a thing going into
not making the playoffs. Again, looking at this,
the list is getting longer. You're probably going
to have a bigger bidding war,
but if Dylan Larkin just had this list of 10 to 15 teams in the
summer, if this was an organization that even had
a thought in their head on how to make a hockey
trade, this probably would be done.
And we'd be talking about how this is a team that started the
season. Awesome. And how it's a better and greener on the other side,
but now we're stuck here. And
again, I don't even know if this team's going
to get proper value for this guy at this point,
Because I just don't trust this organization to do anything right.
Not everything is bad with this team.
We like to remain somewhat optimistic on this channel.
But like you've just outlined, there's a lot of bad, and it is so bad.
There's a lot of bad, like, with other teams, right?
And you go, well, this is an issue.
This is a bit of a negative.
When it's bad here, right now, like this,
it is so bad with these situations.
Now, last thing we'll leave you with is Michael Pospisil has
been recalled to the Detroit Red
wings according to the Grand Rapids Griffins head coach uh dan watson
so he says that he is called
up he is coming up he's going to be joining them
on the road trip uh which i think is pretty
interesting which has a lot of people speculating
is a trade coming is a goaltender being traded is
a goaltender being traded with Dylan Larkin right
a lot of people are speculating about that right
now which i think is really interesting
um and then obviously you know Gibson and Terrykos has
been fantastic as well trading gibson kind
of does make a lot of sense right now because he's a
little bit older uh thank you for your service
but you're in UFA as well so maybe that could
make some sense you have some great young goaltenders
in the AHL uh maybe he's just joining
them uh just in case if there are injuries
because they're on the west coast i don't know exactly
what's going on the team hasn't said anything people
are wondering if there's an injury to one
of the goaltenders of course everybody's mind
goes trade because we're talking trade with
detroit red wings but um you can see here
that there's no actual known injury at this point so
we'll get more updates we'll keep you up to date
but mark any final thoughts on the goaltending
situation because john gibson being traded we
talked about it last week it does actually make
a lot of sense but this could just
be injury insurance on a west coast road trip i think if a
goalie trade is going to happen it's going
to be more towards Christmas maybe after that going in
closer to trade deadline because i'm sure
with this organization they don't want to look like
they're throwing the towel in already
but it's going to get interesting man you have a couple
UFAs John Gibson a prime example
and if you're not in contention this is a guy you got to look
to move you have the depth in the pipeline
and keeping a guy extending him which do you even
trust this team to extend this guy properly
at this point i'm sure he'll just walk for nothing
to a team that probably got palm trees in the city
and more competitive but i think you got to start
looking at all options and again a decent team
but at the end of the day you can't let these guys
walk for nothing no you can't
but uh we will see what they end up doing that's another thing that
has really flown under the radar i mean like you got uh Alex
DeBrincat done what's happening
Simon Edvinsson Dylan Larkin man you're starting goaltenders
at UFA like that's another thing
that's got to get done right like make
a decision here folks make a decision here guys let us know
how you feel in the comments below we'll keep you up
to date with everything that's happening
with the Red Wings we'll see you for another video
