Trump tells us filthy poors to stop complaining about data centers.
Turns out affordability wasn't a hoax.
And the midterms are going to be chaos.
Well, chaos-ier.
That and more on this week's America Uncovered headlines.
Welcome to America Uncovered, I'm Chris Chappell.
A few weeks ago, I did an episode on data centers—something everyone hates,
except for Nestle, who's happy to have a new evil water hog everyone's complaining about.
You should watch that episode.
But the TLDW of it is this.
There are good reasons to have data centers,
though we should find more agreeable ways of building them,
as citizens living near them have justifiable complaints.
President Trump heard these complaints,
realized he was elected to represent the wants of his voters,
and, ah, you know I'm setting you up for a misdirect.
In this Truth Social post, the president said the only reason to oppose data centers
is if communities wanted to end up, quote, backwards and poor.
Yep, because everyone knows the best way to convince people you're right
is to casually dismiss their valid concerns.
Trump did point out that these data centers are necessary
if we hope to compete with China in the AI race.
Taking that into consideration,
Trump supporters realized they were a bit hasty,
and vowed to, ah, you got me, I'm setting you up for another misdirect.
Loads of Trump supporters expressed disappointment and outrage,
saying this isn't what they voted for him to do.
Which is, of course, to dance!
If he's not dancing, he's not doing his job right.
Seriously, though, this is a complex issue,
because the AI genie is out of the bottle.
And like it or not,
it's going to become more and more vital in the future.
So data centers are a necessary evil?
But you can't just brush off citizens' valid concerns.
Which is probably why several politicians are also pushing back on AI.
Including New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani,
who has banned AI in New York schools for K-8 students for a year.
I guess it's a trial run ban?
This is a topic that needs precision tools.
Unfortunately, Trump only knows how to use sledgehammers.
Or AI boom-booms.
Given how much he loves this slop,
no wonder he wants more data centers.
At least Trump has a lot less inflammatory response to flock cameras.
We have pros and cons, right?
It's being studied right now.
We'll have an answer sort of as to our views on it over the next couple of weeks.
Nope, that wasn't a misdirect.
He actually had a well-reasoned and measured response.
Trump!
I've never said this about something someone said in real time, but...
Was that written by AI?
But while Trump is looking into it,
many people have made up their minds and are against flock cameras.
No surprise, with even more instances coming to light of officers
allegedly using the technology to stalk ex-girlfriends.
And Florida is now removing all license plate readers,
including flock cameras, from state highways.
Yes, flock cameras are too crazy even for Florida.
I can't tell if I'm more impressed or scared.
Meanwhile, Trump is also tackling the high cost of living.
He has announced that there will be cheaper drugs,
cheaper beef, and cheaper gas
lining up fall affordability before Labor Day.
Which is surprising, because I could have sworn he had said affordability was a hoax.
And that it was a fake word.
Hmm, I guess Trump just misspoke.
Him saying affordability was a hoax and a fake word was just an embarrassing gaffe.
Though not as embarrassing as this one from J.D. Vance.
9-11, we're about to celebrate the 25th year, or commemorate the 25th year.
Yeah, I don't know anyone who's celebrating 25 years since 9-11.
Except maybe Saudi Arabia for getting away with housing all the perpetrators.
Boy, I'm sure glad the US isn't getting closer to them
and even trying to get them a nuclear deal that includes a pathway to enrichment.
But hey, at least that was J.D. Vance's most embarrassing gaffe of the week.
What I'm trying to focus on is doing as much of God's work as possible right now.
And if that leads to the end times, okay.
You know, with how things are going right now,
that might not be a bad 2028 campaign slogan.
But so Trump is finally admitting prices are a bit high.
What's his excuse for that?
You remember, you know, affordability,
I inherited that from the Biden administration.
Ah yes, the time-honored tradition of blaming your predecessor.
Trump blames things being expensive on Biden,
who blamed it on Trump,
who blamed it on Obama,
who blamed it on Bush,
who blamed it on 9-11,
which nobody blamed on Saudi Arabia.
Trump is doing whatever he can to curry the favor of voters,
because the midterm elections are less than two months away.
And at least according to some surveys,
his approval rating has been stuck at the lowest level of his political career for a while now.
But hey, he's trying to make things more affordable.
And that's often voters' number one issue.
Besides dancing.
And Chevron announced it will double oil production in Venezuela.
So oil prices should go down.
Assuming, of course, the totally unlikely,
minute,
improbable possibility of the US renewing strikes in Iran.
3, 2, 1...
The US launched new strikes in Iran!
And Iran fired on US allies in the Gulf in retaliation.
And oil prices rose as a result.
And the US military might be in a bit of a disarray,
as Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll resigned without giving a reason.
Though there have been reports of conflict with him and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
Well, that was a nice 12 seconds of peace while we had them.
But hey, at least the USS Abraham Lincoln was finally able to dock in Thailand
after over 280 days at sea.
Somehow, unleashing that many sailors after that many days at sea in Thailand
seems like it might be...problematic.
At least we have Trump posting about renaming the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait.
And people responding,
they should call it the Trump Gay because he's definitely not straight.
Gas.
$4 a gallon.
A sweet middle school gay burn.
Priceless.
Looks like Trump may need to find another way to butter up voters for the midterms.
Affordability is a major issue.
So much so, it's led to calls of violence,
with slogans like,
Eat the Rich becoming increasingly popular.
But I don't know why you'd want to eat the rich.
They're fatty,
which is bad for your heart,
and the people angriest about the rich can't afford health care.
But violence has occurred,
with Bank of America Vice President Aaron Piacenti
stabbed to death in broad daylight in Times Square.
Is this a new Luigi Mangione?
The short answer, no.
Long answer, no.
The stabbing was done by a woman with a history of mental illness,
wielding two knives who attacked unprovoked and randomly,
also stabbing a 68-year-old man.
Also, Piacenti was A vice president,
of which B of A has many, not THE vice president.
So it's extra unlikely this was targeted,
like Mangione's alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare's CEO.
Another reason this isn't a new Luigi is,
I don't think anyone's going to be swooning and gooning over this woman
like people are with Mangione.
No offense intended,
not everyone can be as effortlessly charming as Luigi.
So no, I don't think anyone's going to be supporting this murderer.
They're all too busy supporting Lindsay Clancy!
I'd say slay queen, but she already slayed three times.
But perhaps nowhere is more violent than Chicago,
where 42 people were shot over the weekend,
making it the second worst of the year.
You know things are bad when 21 times 2 people were shot,
and the headlines are,
I've seen worse!
Trump has had enough of the violence in Chicago,
saying the city will die if the federal government,
a fine-tuned crime-fighting machine,
is not invited in by the mayor or governor to help.
Yeah, he's basically asking them to light up the Trump signal.
The only shooting Trump wants to see is in golf,
and his beloved AI slop.
Illinois Governor J.D. Pritzker responded by saying
Trump is neither wanted nor needed.
I can't tell if Pritzker is in denial,
or he's like me and knows the only man who can truly solve this
and all of America's problems is Chris Christie!
The politicians that thick together, stick together.
No offense intended,
this is what peak political performance looks like.
But many people may not be able to vote for Chris Christie in the midterms.
And not just because he's literally not on any ballot.
The United States Postal Service whistleblower
has described the new plans for voting by mail in Trump's executive order.
And says they could lead to disaster,
warning that millions of Americans
may not get mail-in ballots in a timely manner or at all.
According to the whistleblower,
if even one barcode on a single ballot in a bulk mailing of 10,000 ballots
fails to properly scan during the verification process,
the entire batch is rejected and sent back to the state,
effectively stopping the ballots from being mailed to voters.
Many might say this is part of a Machiavellian plan by Trump
to disenfranchise voters and steal the election for Republicans.
But remember, this is the government we're talking about,
never assigned to malice,
that which is adequately explained by bureaucratic incompetence.
Plus, as I said when I covered the Supreme Court's decision
on Trump's mail-in ballot executive order last week,
there are still lawsuits likely on the way,
so this current haphazard plan may not stick.
But if you're worried,
I'd encourage you to not rely on mail-in voting.
Go old school by going to the polls and writing in Chris Christie.
For what?
For everything!
He's the only one who can stop all of this.
