Russian bots have been silenced. Sort of.
The most wonderful thing about Tigger is he doesn't eat people.
And it looks like the Fort Hood shooter's execution won't
be livestreamed after all.
Great. Now what am I supposed to do with all
the snacks I got for the watch party?
That and more on this week's America Uncovered headlines.
Welcome to America Uncovered, I'm Chris Chappell.
It's probably a testament to how people are feeling right now that
President Trump has urged Americans to trust the process,
saying, it's all going to work out because it always does.
Based on the replies,
it seems like people's minds were definitely put to rest.
But people need reassurance
because it has been a rollercoaster of a week.
Ooh, sorry, that may have been insensitive to say after a man
died on a Six Flags rollercoaster in Georgia.
This is the first time one of those pictures taken
on the drop of a rollercoaster will be
used as evidence. I wonder if the park will make
the investigators pay $40 for it.
But the reactions we're seeing to certain stories
are really showing people's true stripes.
Oh, sorry, that may have been insensitive to say.
After a man reportedly acting unwell posted
a video of himself inside the tiger enclosure
at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Northern England after jumping in.
Then when the tiger became interested
in this strange creature that had invaded its territory,
he proceeded to lecture the tiger before being mauled to death.
The man was William Chapman.
Wait, is this the photo news outlets are using for him?
Damn, the guy was shredded!
Okay, that was definitely insensitive to say.
But not as insensitive as Donald Trump posting AI slop of himself
inserted into the video and playfully wrestling with the tiger.
This is completely unbecoming of the office of the president.
What happened in the good old days when Teddy Roosevelt would
grapple with dangerous beasts for real?
But I choose to look on the bright side.
Even though this man lost his life,
they ultimately decided not to euthanize the tiger.
Which means we don't go down
an even darker timeline like we did after
they shot Harambe. Nature is healing.
And here's some proof. It would seem that the internet
is seeing some newfound peace and quiet,
because Ukraine struck data centers belonging
to the Russian company Yandex.
And Russian bots reportedly went silent.
That's according to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky,
who later walked back the claim a bit.
But he wasn't alone. Others on social media have
also said they're seeing a less botful internet,
with some even putting out quote unquote bot tests,
where they would make claims that would
normally get a lot of automated responses to prove it.
On top of that, some users noted that Elon
Musk's engagement on his own platform went down after
the destruction of the Russian data centers.
Wait, Twitter? Don't you deadname it.
Everyone knows Musk is a champion of affirming transitions.
So did Russian bot activity really go down?
Or is this just one of those times where
people on social media are hallucinating? Kinda like AI does sometimes.
Well, the truth, like the rules of Quidditch
for my Malfoy fans out there, is complicated.
Yandex, the company behind the data centers that were struck,
has been called Russia's Google.
It's primarily internet infrastructure,
which is why Ukraine targeted it.
An independent analysis of Cloudflare radar data showed
that Yandex bot traffic
was down after the strikes. Way down.
But that includes all automated requests,
and not all of those are social media bots.
In fact, automated requests come from all sorts of internet sources.
And social media bots come from all sorts of places, not just Yandex.
So the next time you see
an absolutely smooth-brained idiotic take online,
which won't take you long,
you can continue believing it's just robots instead
of losing faith in humanity.
Trump is a man of mercy.
Sometimes he has us begging for mercy.
Like when he said this about Ohio Senator John Husted at a rally.
And I don't do this with men very often.
I started examining his body
because I didn't know he was a great athlete.
And I looked and I watched up and down.
I looked at his ass and I looked at the whole...
Yeah, this is a weird timeline.
Just imagine how bad it would have been if they killed that tiger.
But Trump has also been handing out pardons
for Republican public officials
accused of corruption like Halloween candy.
He said it was because they were being targeted
by the Biden administration.
Which, yeah, okay, that tracks.
According to the New York Post, between 2020 and 2025,
major banks closed the accounts of MAGA, Pro-Life,
and other conservative groups disfavored by the Biden administration."
The banks said they feared damage to their reputation
from associating with these groups.
Because these banks all have absolutely stellar reputations.
And then there's the 2009 Fort Hood shooter.
Trump has cancelled the livestream,
not the execution.
Nidal Malik Hasan was an army major who killed 13 people,
including a pregnant woman,
at Fort Hood in Texas while shouting Allahu Akbar.
He was sentenced to death for his crimes.
Last week's Secretary of War,
and what Dane Cook would look like if he aged gracefully,
Pete Hegseth said this about Hasan's December 3rd execution.
And so he's going to get a firing squad of soldiers,
as it should be. And we'll make sure
that people are able to watch it, that it's public,
because people need to understand that
there's serious consequences for these types of things.
Several Republicans had concerns over livestreaming this.
The argument for and against it boiled down to optics.
Hegseth believes seeing this man shot dead would
be a powerful deterrent to this type of crime,
while others believe this could have backfired.
Ooh, sorry, that might have been insensitive to say. Wait a minute.
He killed 13 people. Screw him and his feelings. And he's ugly, too.
But despite what he did,
seeing the brutality of the violence could turn people off. Especially
since Hassan is in a wheelchair,
having sustained multiple gunshot wounds while being subdued.
It's hard to not look like the bad guys
when shooting Harry Professor X.
Also, there's no conclusive evidence
that capital punishment is a deterrent for crimes,
especially when things like
a Florida prisoner killing his cellmate in hopes
of getting a death sentence happen. Geez, I thought my roommate sucked.
Plus, it wasn't a deterrent for Al-Qaeda,
who threatened to kill any US captives if the execution took place.
Wait, Al Qaeda is still a thing?
That's like finding out MySpace is still around.
What's that Shelley? MySpace is still around? What a timeline.
President Trump finally stepped in and said
the execution will still take place by firing squad,
but it won't be streamed,
though the victim's family members can still view it in person.
This made many people feel disappointed,
or relieved, or shout taco, even though they're
anti-capital punishment and don't see the irony in saying that.
But what do you think?
When it comes to the morality of the issue,
do you think it's best to show off the consequences
of such horrific actions, or not glorify violence?
Many would say we value life here in the United States
and shouldn't do anything to cheapen
it.
At least, that's what they would have said before seeing this.
Pringles is challenging their most die-hard fans
to commit to be buried in a Pringles
can.
Sign the will at OnceYouDrop.com.
And if spending eternity with Pringles wasn't enough,
one lucky die-hard fan's gonna come
away with this special Pringles urn.
And an after-lifetime supply of Pringles.
Look at those beauties.
That's enough Pringles for your life
and whoever you want to pass them on to once you
drop.
Yes, this is real.
What better way to honor Grandpa's memory than being given
a lifetime supply of the
snack that killed him.
Actually, I see a win-win here.
Hassan could be executed via Pringles.
No one would have an issue with that,
since it'd actually be less violent
than the average Nathan's hot dog eating competition.
Then Hassan's remains can be paraded around
to remind everyone once Islamic terror pops,
the justice won't stop.
Maybe Trump was right.
It is all gonna work out.
It always does.
But what do you think?
