This new report has Texans fans FIRED UP...
Sep 4, 2026
This has Texans fans fired up as a new report from the NFL has the Texans ranked extremely high this
season. How does Houston look as we are just a little over one week away from a big 2026 NFL
season? What's up ladies and gentlemen? I'm your host today on Texans Digest. My name is Isaac
Estrada. I'm excited to be here because we have a lot that we need to talk about. So let me jog
your memory a little bit. About two days ago a report was released from the NFL ranking the top
10 defenses headed into the 2026 NFL season and we're gonna get all into that. But before we do
I got a question for you guys. I got a very important question for you guys.
How come 90% of y'all aren't subscribed? Come on now. It's free. We get daily uploads here on
Texans Digest. I should be here about five to seven times a week. So you guys be hearing a
lot from me. So make sure you hit that subscribe button and do your boy a solid. But now we're
gonna get into the very important stuff here today on Texans Digest. So NFL analyst Gennaro
Felice released a list ranking the top 10 defenses in the league. So essentially he ranks defenses
he says not based on advanced stats, all old human fashion intuition, all the new stuff with AI. He
rates it simply based on who is giving up the fewest points in the league headed into 2026.
So before I get into this list that he dropped, I want to say that everybody knows that the Houston
Texans defense is one of the best in the league. We have been for a few years now. Obviously CJ
Shroud's job is to get us some touchdowns on the board. But regarding our defense, we know that
defense wins championships. We know that our head coach Tomiko Ryans is a defensive minded head
coach. And I don't think we have any questions regarding this defense headed into this next
season, at least in terms of can they play at the highest ability. We all know that defense wins
championships. And I fully fully fully expect this defense to be a championship level defense
headed into the season. And you should too. And you should too. We have all the tools available.
We made some huge free agent signings. And I'm excited for this team. I'm excited for this team.
And I got even a little more excited when Gennaro Felice dropped this list for the top 10 defenses
in the league. So we're going to take a deep dive into this real quick. Let's get it on big screen
These are the teams that allowed the least amount of points in the NFL defense wise.
So Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars both ranked their tide for number ninth at 19
points per games. Los Angeles Chargers 18.76. Los Angeles Rams 18.71. The Chiefs 18.65. Denver
Broncos 18.18. New England Patriots 18. Minnesota Vikings 17.94. Houston Texans 16.53. Seattle
Seahawks 16.41. And what is something that you realize between all 10 of these teams? These are
all teams that are consistent playoff appears at least in the past few years. Obviously look at
this. Look at what the number one slot is. Seattle Seahawks 16.41. Seattle won it all this past year.
When we talk about defense winning championships, it's not a myth. It's not a joke. If you have the
best defense in the league, you're naturally going to be a Super Bowl caliber team. We saw
what Seattle Seahawks defense did to Drake May. Poor Drake May in the Super Bowl. That dude got
absolutely creamed by the Seattle Seahawks defense. Only allowing 16.4. You make Sam Darnold look like
the next Tom Brady whenever your defense is doing that, right? You make him look amazing and I think
our defense is going to do exactly that. Obviously you look at number two right here. We are right
there. Right behind them. 16.53. Just about 0.12. Yes, about 0.12 points behind the reigning
defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. So we're right there. We are right there and I'm
going to take a hot take real quick and say that I think CJ Stroud is a lot more capable of
being able to lead this team to a Super Bowl than I think Sam Darnold was whenever he did it with
Seattle. I believe in CJ Stroud a lot more than I would believe in Sam Darnold and if Sam Darnold
was able to do it, obviously anybody's able to do it and I'm not going to doggone Sam Darnold. I'm
not going to doggone Sam Darnold. We saw how he turned his career around and really was able to
make himself a star quarterback in this league before when he was with Minnesota. Obviously
before going to Seattle and getting himself a ring. Bravo to him. But what we realize about all
these teams is they're consistent playoff caliber teams and a lot of these teams are consistent
Super Bowl. A few of these teams are Super Bowl champions.
Look at the LA Rams. They just got Aaron Darnold back. They're going to be even better this year.
Kansas City Chiefs. Obviously, we know that they didn't make the playoffs last year, but that team
can't do anything without Patrick Mahomes, to be honest. They're kind of starstruck without
Patrick Mahomes. So I wouldn't put it too much on them. We saw the Broncos made it all the way to
the AFC championship game, of course, before they lost Bo Nix via injury. But yeah, long story short,
you guys get it. Houston Texans ranks number two in the league. And I want to take a deep look
at what Gennaro Felice had to say. He said, where's the weakness? D'Amico's Ryan's ferocious
unit is teeming with talent, boasting game changers at all three levels. You like pass rush?
Will Anderson Jr. and Daniil Hunter have racked up 50 sacks in their first two seasons together.
More into coverage. Derrick Stingley Jr. just earned first-team all-pro honors for the second
straight year. And he goes into detail, just lathering us up in praise with our defense.
He talks about guys like Reed Blankenship, the new signing, Cade Bullock. Obviously, we got the
returning Jadavian Clowney, Caden McDonald, and a few other guys on our defense. Obviously, we know
he has great defense. But if you can see right there, he ranked us number one in the NFL among
defenses headed into this next year. And that has me extremely excited because we know that defenses
win championships. We know that if you don't have a good defense, it's not going to matter.
We see it almost every single year with the Dallas Cowboys in the past. We saw it a lot with the
Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott in that offense was putting up 35 points a game. Doesn't matter if
your defense is giving up 40, right? Doesn't matter. And what's even crazier about this list
is that Gennaro Felice released a list for the defense and offense. And I think our offense
ranked right around number 16. Right around the middle of the pack, saying we have a lot of
questions. I don't doubt that offense. I think CJ Stroup's coming in here with a chip on his
shoulder this season. So I don't doubt our offense at all. So yeah, we are officially
ranked number one according to the NFL when it comes to defenses coming into the 2026 NFL season.
That's got me super excited. And before we do that, I want to talk about our guys on the team.
What makes this defense top 10 and now officially number one according to many?
I want to start off with some free agent signings we had this offseason. Obviously,
we look at Reed Blankenship. He's our guy that we picked up 16. Hold up. Let me get this on
big screen. Thank you. So last season, this is last season stats. He played 16 games, got himself
83 tackles, 53 solo tackles, even snagged himself an interception. One of the best safeties,
I think, in the league, and he's going to continue to be for us. And obviously,
when we look at players like this, they don't need to do everything. This doesn't need to be
our star player. He needs to do exactly what he got paid that bag to do and just be consistent.
Just be consistent is what we need out of this Houston defense. We also look at here at Logan
Hall. We only signed him for about $13 million. Why is the picture of Quinn Ewers on my screen
right now? Oh, y'all see Logan Hall right there at the bottom. Y'all see him making the tackle on
Quinn Ewers. I was like, wait, why in the world is Quinn Ewers on my screen right now? Sick tattoos,
though. But once again, just like we talked about with Reid Blankenship, we're going to talk about
right here with Logan Hall. And that being that he doesn't need to come out here and give us 10
sacks a game. We signed him on a two-year $13 million contract. We know why. To be consistent.
You have Will Anderson Jr., you have Daniil Hunter, you have Jadavion Clowney coming back
into the rotation. What do you need out of Logan Hall? You need him to do exactly this. You need
to take pressures off of those guys. And they're so worried about him that they still got themselves
a 6'6", 283-pound defensive end in their face. I'm excited that Logan Hall is on this team.
Now let's get to the star players. Let's get to the star players. I'm not going to name any names
here. I'm going to name names. Will Anderson Jr. This is our guy headed into the next year.
Baby Goat. I'm going to pull up his stats right now. So Will Anderson Jr. in 17 games last season
recorded 54 tackles. 35 solo tackles. Ranked number 8 in the league among sacks sitting at 12.
Also had fumbles for losses. Ranked in the top 3. So Will Anderson Jr. I can brag about this guy. I
can make a 50-minute video off of this guy talking about how good he is. We all know that. We all
know how good he is. This year, however, I want to talk about him paired up with Daniil Hunter.
So him mixed with Daniil Hunter. Him mixed with one of the best defensive ends in the league.
One who, by the way, Micah Parsons said was one of the most underrated defensive ends of our
generation. That's what Micah Parsons said. Not me. If you don't want to take it from me, take it
from Micah Parsons. Take it from one of the best defensive players in the league. That's what Micah
Parsons had to say. Recording 15 sacks this season. Ranking him in the top 5 right at number 3. So
we saw what the report from Gennaro Felice had to say. You pair two guys in the league
who had in the first two seasons paired together, they have 50 sacks.
That makes what we already got going on with all the free agent signings, with Jadavia and
Clowney coming back home. This is the best defense in the league without a doubt. Without a doubt,
this is the best defense in the league. I have no doubt in my mind that when you pair these two
up together, mixed with what we already got going on, this is the best defense in the league. I'm
going to say it. It's by a country mile. It's by, especially if you guys live in the country like I
do here in Texas, it's a country mile spread in terms of how much better we are than every other
team defensively. Last guy I want to look at is our guy Derrick Stingley Jr. Let's get this on
a bit of an expanded screen. So tackles, obviously we know tackles is not where he thrives. He's not
trying to sit there and get 50 tackles a game. Obviously by the time he can even get a tackle
most of the time, Derrick, or excuse me, by the time he's able to make a tackle, Will Anderson
Jr. and Daniil Hunter are already there putting the quarterback on his butt. So tackles, 36 tackles,
26 tackles, solo, didn't have any sacks on the season. Here's where he's one of the best
defensive players in the league at his position. Four interceptions on the year ranking him number
three among his position. You guys remember at the beginning of the season, or excuse me,
at the beginning of this guy's career, you guys remember at the beginning of his career in 2022
and 2023 whenever he only played nine games and 11 games and we were sitting there saying,
why in the world did we take this guy over Sauce Gardner? Why in the world would we do that?
Well now we sit here, Sauce Gardner's already on his second team, got shipped off to Indianapolis.
Derrick seemingly sits here as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. So that is why I am
beyond excited for this team headed into the 2026 NFL season defensively. Defense wins championships.
CJ Stroud has a chip on his shoulder. This team is going to be the best team in the National Football
League. Mark my words, already have the best defense. If offense is even close to top 10,
like we all think they're going to be, especially with additions like Kayshaun Moody, this team is
going to be spectacular. Thank you guys so much for watching today on Texans Digest. I hope you
guys have a blessed rest of your day and be excited for the Houston Texans like I am because
I think this is the year. Peace out guys.
