Report reveals SHOCKING Texans update...

We had some shocking Texas news today as multiple key sources regarding CJ Stroud hit the sports
world this morning. What does this look like for CJ Stroud headed into a big year in his fifth season
in the NFL? What's up ladies and gentlemen? My name is Isaac Estrada. I am your new host for
the Texans Digest and I am so excited to be here today because we have a lot that we need to talk
about. Starting off with our guy, star player of this team, baby goat, some might call him CJ Stroud.
So we got some big hold up. I don't like that photo of CJ Stroud. It's not very flattering.
Hold up. There we go. That photo looks a lot better. So we got a lot of big news this morning
coming regarding CJ Stroud and we're going to dive right into it. We knew that this season
was going to be some contract negotiations for him after he had such a hot start with the Houston
Texans. We thought he was going to land a big contract and it looks like that's what the front
office wanted to give him. But we're going to take a look at this quote here via X this morning
regarding Evan Siderly. CJ Stroud will not be signing an extension with the Texans before this
season begins per ESPN. Houston offered Stroud a contract exceeding 50 million dollars annually,
but he's betting on himself to hopefully reach a near 60 million dollars per year.
That's some big news coming from the sports world this morning. We all knew that CJ Stroud
ended the season last year on a bit of a bitter note. He had some questions headed into the
playoffs. We knew the interceptions continued to rise each year, so we didn't know what that was
going to look like. But after that divisional round game where we got bounced out by the New
England Patriots in some pretty sloppy fashion, that was not a good game by us. We were really,
really wondering what was going to happen with CJ Stroud. We even heard the reports that whenever
D'Amico Ryan was asked about the CJ Stroud contract, he said, I'm not talking about that
right now. That's not what's on my mind right now. That's what our head coach was saying following
that divisional round game. But we're going to take a deeper dive. This is what he had to say
this morning as well regarding CJ Stroud and the contract negotiation. I'm going to pull it up
right here. This is our guy Aaron Wilson on X this morning. This is what head coach D'Amico
Ryan had to say. I've seen CJ Stroud from preparation. Has he gotten better, more comfortable,
more confident? Second time around to see him do what he's done all season, all offseason. Great
job of commanding offense, communicating, leading, speaking up in meetings. CJ has handled himself
tremendously this offseason. That comes from head coach D'Amico Ryan via X. So I would love to sit
here and say there's trouble in paradise, but it doesn't seem like there is regarding D'Amico Ryan.
We know that CJ and D'Amico Ryan both hit this team around the same time. So we know that they're
on the same playing field. We know that they like to have a good relationship. CJ seems like a great
guy. We know D'Amico Ryan and him have always gotten along. So at the very least, that's good
to see. But we're going to take a deep dive right now at CJ Stroud's stats. Because headed into
this season, a lot of people were thinking that, I don't know if this guy can lead us to a Super
Bowl. I don't know if this guy has what it takes to lead us to the big one. CJ Stroud's going to
bet on himself this year, but we're going to take a deep dive into his stats. So these are regarding
his passing stats. So as you guys remember, his first year in the league, a lot of people were
saying that he could have been the MVP after I think about week 8 or 10, whenever we were seeing
Bryce Young just consistently play worse and worse every week. Thankfully, he's gotten it together.
But a lot of people were saying that CJ Stroud could be the MVP of this league. He didn't end up
doing that, but he had a great first year. And the season, the future, was looking bright for us guys.
It was looking bright for the Houston Texans. Headed into year 2, we all know the sophomore slump.
The sophomore slump gets to everybody. We see seasoned vets like Baker Mayfield. It hit him as
well, and it hit CJ in his second year. We see the passing yards go down. We see 20 touchdowns, a little
bit less than last year. And that interception rate, that was what was kind of making a lot of
us nervous. He went from 5 interceptions to 12 interceptions. He's still finding his footing in
the league. We know CJ's a gunslinger. He's not afraid to throw it, so at least that's a key
takeaway we can have from this. But last year, this was the lowest amount of yards we ever seen him
put up in the NFL, and this was the lowest amount of touchdowns given it was only one less touchdown.
I know that. But his touchdowns went down from 20 to 19. His yards went down from 3,700 to just a
little over 3,000. His completion percentage went up just a little bit, but he was also taking a lot
less attempts per game. You see his attempts only 423 compared to the season before where he was at
530. Over 100 more attempts, and completions also dropped from 336 to 273. Again, given that he only
played 14 games, but I don't know if he would have played those extra games if he would have been
still racking up those numbers. But after that divisional round game against the New England
Patriots, given the New England Patriots who ended up going all the way to the Super Bowl before
getting bounced out by Seattle, CJ was looking okay. And then after that game, it was just kind of,
can this guy really do what he said he was going to do? Can this guy really do what the front office
told us he could do? What our coaching staff, what our GM said that he could do, take us to a Super
Bowl? A lot of us weren't seeing it. A lot of us weren't seeing it, but we still had faith in CJ
headed into his big year five. Obviously, he hit that fifth year option. We knew he was likely
going to do that because he wanted the big contract. But apparently, they offered him that
big contract, that $50 million a year contract, and our guy said no. He wasn't going to take it.
That was not what he wanted. He wanted something a little sweeter. He wanted a little bit more of
into a big, big year five. So, $50 million a year was not good enough. He's going for 60,
but this kind of took over the sports world this morning. I remember waking up,
you know, spending some time with the Lord, and then getting on my phone, as most of us do,
getting on X, and immediately seeing all the quotes about CJ Stroud turning it down.
Stephen A. Smith's over here freaking out because CJ, he says CJ isn't worth that money, which
don't do our boy like that, Stephen. Don't do our boy like that. You can see what Stephen A. Smith
said right here via First Take this morning. Don't act like CJ Stroud is entitled to $55 to $60
million a year. No, it ain't like that for CJ Stroud in Houston. This is what Stephen A. Smith
had to say regarding the CJ Stroud contract coming up in Houston. So, CJ doesn't think that he is
worth, or excuse me, Stephen A. Smith doesn't think that Stephen A. Smith, Stephen A. Smith
doesn't think that CJ Stroud is worth that big contract. I want to know what you guys think. Do
you guys think that CJ is worth that $55 to $60 million a year? I think if he is, we're going to
find out this year, biggest year of his NFL career, and I would argue of his entire life regarding his
football play. We're going to see if this is it. We're going to see if this is the year that CJ
Stroud can make that huge break and take us all the way to a Super Bowl. Because in this first
three years, that's cool. We went from a team that can barely crack five or six wins in a season
to a consistent playoff team. But there's something that separates teams from being
horrible, decent, to consistent playoff receivers, people who are consistently in the playoffs,
teams that are consistently in the playoffs, should I add, to teams that make it all the
way to the Super Bowl, to the way we view cornerbacks like Patrick Mahomes, to the way
we view cornerbacks like we did Tom Brady before he retired, like we did Peyton Manning before he
retired. We're seeing guys like Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen keep falling just shy of that bar,
especially in such a packed, a packed AFC where you have quarterbacks like Josh Allen, like Lamar
Jackson, like Patrick Mahomes. We're seeing all these quarterbacks consistently take drop-offs
and not be able to take it to the next level. We were even able to see with Patrick Mahomes,
and we know he already has a Hall of Fame career. But still, we want to know if our guy CJ Stroud
can take it that far. And I think we're going to find out this season. We have to find out this
season. We have to find out if CJ Stroud is going to take this team all the way, if he's something
better than just a divisional round merchant. And we're going to find out very shortly. Season
starts in less than two weeks, guys, so this isn't a question that we're going to have to ponder on
for the next few months like we've been doing all offseason. But thank you guys so much for
watching. Once again, I am your new host here on Texans Digest, Isaac Estrada. Thank you guys for
joining me. Have a blessed day.
