AI GeneratedThis morning broadcast from National Harbor celebrates the local community through a diverse array of segments. The program highlights fall fashion trends, environmental conservation efforts for the Potomac River, and the cultural vibrancy of the DMV area. It also features performances by the U.S. Army Band, local dining at Society, and various community service initiatives.
First of all, I want you guys all the time in the morning, all of you incredible,
you know, work the night before and having an incredible time. Are we having fun? Let's go.
To get this guy out early is one thing. I appreciate you being here tomorrow.
Also, we're celebrating Tucker's birthday, which is great.
So please give him a happy birthday. Everybody's been awesome. Now, as far as the show itself,
they're going to keep dancing. We're going to be talking more about Prince George's County,
your home county. We'll do some trivia coming up in a couple of minutes.
We're going to learn more about National Harbor. That's right. Also,
junior reporter segment is going to be coming up on 5E this morning. I've got to tell you what's
coming up. We're going to keep the music playing. Anybody who's here, just come up. This is your
dance floor. This is your party central. Have fun. We're here for another hour. If you're not
here right now, you're watching at home. Maybe you're in an apartment right over there. Come
down here and join the party at National Harbor. Oh my gosh, we are having fun here in the National
Harbor. They're on main set. We're over here by what is pretty much the coolest landmark in the
D.C. area besides all the monuments. I mean, the views are great down here. And although it's a
little warm, it's been such a fun morning. I know. It's been fun having you enjoy your
birthday celebration. Oh, I get so many amazing hugs. And of course, no zip trip is complete
without a visit from the main man here, Rattlesnake. Rattlesnake, you're getting your
moment here. What you got? Hey, hey, hey. How y'all doing? How y'all doing? Tucker,
it's your birthday, man. Yep. You know how I always try to do what I can, brother, man.
So I have a surprise for you and I have a surprise for Annie Mae. Oh my gosh.
We love, we love presents. I know, I'm excited. What do we have over here, Rattlesnake?
Okay. While we're getting stuff ready, gentlemen, you guys come in, too. We'll give you a shout out
and some love, too. Here, what are you guys' names? Hey, what's happening? How you doing?
I'm Brian. I'm Dean's father. This is the guy to talk to. All right, talk to us. Good morning,
guys. I'm Brian Jackson and I'm representing Love 420 Dispensary. We're opening in Navy Yard
tomorrow. Congratulations. Thank you so much. So we're a full service dispensary and lounge.
Yeah. So for adults 21 and over, come on and check us out. Okay. That's all we need to hear.
We got presents, right? Let's see if Rattlesnake's got something for you. All right. All right.
Talk to us. Yay. Presents for me. Open it up. That's for you. Okay. And since it's your birthday,
I have something real special for you. Oh boy. I knew it. Here, let me hold this thing. Hey,
Rattlesnake, have you noticed that there's somebody dressed up like you today?
Yeah, that's my... That's Rattlesnake Jr. That's Rattlesnake Jr.? Yeah. Did you inspire him to
dress like that today? Yeah. You gotta go find him. Yeah. I mean, you realize you're like becoming
an icon here on these Zip Trips. Yeah, yeah. And I thank God for it. Now, no pressure, but you've
set me up before. Okay. Oh my gosh. Wait, wait, can I try it on? Yeah, yeah. Okay. Wait, where
are those guys from 420 Dispensary? Because I feel like I'm ready to go.
Last year, Rattlesnake gave me the nicest pair of red shoes. How do you feel? I mean,
how do I look is more important. Do you want a new man? I can't see. I can't see how I look,
but I feel like I look amazing right now. You look amazing. Rattlesnake, that fits beautifully.
Well, it's going to be tough to beat this jacket. Thank you so much. I do appreciate it. We
appreciate all your positivity out here. Yeah. And thank you so much. You don't get the love
that Rattlesnake gets, but you get a two there. Thank you so much for the gifts. You guys are
really thoughtful. Okay, we expect you to wear that the rest of the day, birthday boy. I mean,
I won't be sweating in it because it's air cooling, too. He goes, I'm out here. He goes,
I'm out here. Yeah, I'm out here, too. Yeah, I love it. All right. Thank you, everybody. All
right, Jacqueline, we're going to toss it over to you. We do have thunderstorms in the forecast
later this afternoon. Be ready for it. Also, Rattlesnake and I look great, but I don't suggest
this is what you wear outside later today. It's hot out here in the night. You can wear it. Yeah,
you can wear it. I mean, look good. Yeah. All right, guys, we are back out here at our zip
accessory right now. Let me tell you, we got Carrie here with Tanger Outlets,
and you're talking a little bit about hot fall fashion. Hot fall fashion. That's actually what
this is right now. Hot fall fashion. Yeah, some pieces that are going to help you transition into
the new season. We have all of it at Tanger. We've got over 75 stores. We've got three great brands
that are all a little bit different that we're going to showcase today, and we're excited to
place to go. Let's bring out our first model here that you have for us.
Yes, Latisha is our Adidas model, and Adidas is coming off of such a hot summer with hot
merchandise. Let's keep it going. Let's keep up the momentum, and the original collection is really
popular. You've got this wonderful Firebird tracksuit that she's wearing along with the
Sambas, and both are in some great fall prints. All right, so we've got our fall model. He's
really known for a versatile modern style. His look is you've got the graphic t-shirt,
but it's really polished with the Italian leather pants, the belt, and the hat. She's
our Old Navy model. Her dress is hitting all the fall trends right now. The collar,
it's a little dramatic. You've got the lace, and you've got green, the mossy green. Her
right now. Our loafers are good for this time of the year, but then she can dress that up with
some boots to make it more fall-esque as the season goes on. Awesome. If I could get our
photographers to turn around this way. I just want to accentuate one more time, we have no
more models right there. If you guys could take us back here on camera as well, we are showing
one more time our models' outfits here. If you guys want to go one more time, what I love about
the bomber jacket is it still looks lightweight but not overbearing. I'm loving the colors here
on the ladies as well. There's the orange jumpsuit. It's perfect for fall. Perfect for
fall. The colors are perfect for fall. You're right. With the boss outfit, it is. It's lightweight.
It's very tailored, but it's something you can take transition day to night. All of this is
going to be on sale this weekend as well. Okay, perfect. Yeah, let's talk about Labor Day weekend
sale. What is that? On top of this outfit, it's going to be shoes, $70, and lock code to the
social media and you can see all the deals and all the stores because it doesn't stop here. This
is just a preview. You guys have so many name brands out there as well. I mean, I'm just thinking
of all the different ones. I love to shop there. I get back to school as I'm out there for Labor
Day, back to school shopping. Pass it all off your list. It doesn't end there. We're also
our semi-annual sale too. You can get up to 70% off at select stores during this period,
through the month of September. There's always a sale going on. You can always find a deal.
That's not where people can find you. I know there's a few different ones out here today,
but we'll send it back to you guys. Thank you very much. We're going to get the hometown trivia
here in just one second, but earlier this morning, you met Carla and you met Xavier,
but I got to give them a little more shine because these are my favorite guys from each and every
Zip Trip. First of all, how many of these have you checked off on your list? Did you meet Mr.
Shamari Stone yet? You did meet Shamari? Okay, very cool. We just got to get you on the other
side of the mic and future junior reporter. We're going to take care of this. We'll make
it happen. They dress up every year and Xavier, every year, he knows I love bears, right? So a
couple of years ago, he gave me a little stuffed bear that I still have on my dresser. Last year,
you gave me bear socks that I still wear. What do you have this year? I have you a big teddy bear.
Oh, this is for me? Yes, sir. Oh my gosh. Xavier, this is so cool. Here, let's set it down so we
can pull them out. Now we just, we have to name this guy. What should we name him?
Steve Jr. Steve Jr. All right, everybody meet Steve Jr. You know Xavier and you know Harlem
and you guys are awesome and thank you guys for always coming out to the Zip Trip. Okay,
I'm going to let you take care of him and I'll drop him in a little bit. Okay,
thank you guys. All right, now we have to meet Miss Rosa over here because Rosa is not just
here in Prince George's County, but you live in Nostal Harbor. How long you been living down here?
I've been living here since November of 2019. Wow, so you've been here a while. What do you
love so much about it? Well, you have, first of all, this beautiful Potomac River. This is my,
that's my favorite thing living by the water. The uses of the restaurants. You have different
activities you're always having here every week and the people are really nice. You meet somebody
new all the time. You have the hotels, they have conventions. What can I say? I go on and on. You
found the right spot for me. I did. You want to do a little trivia? Sure, Steve. Okay, let's see
Here's the deal, Rosa. If you don't get it right, don't worry about it because we're all going to
learn together. I don't want to be embarrassed, so I like to win. Let's see how competitive you
are. All right, question number one, Miss Rosa. Did you see the new art installation down there?
That big metal ship with all the animals in it? Yes. It's really heavy. Yeah. How much do you
think that weighs? The weight of one elephant, of two elephants, or three elephants? More.
You didn't win that one, Rosa. At least three elephants. It's actually two elephants. Really?
Because it looks so heavy. It's 22,000 pounds. Okay. So apparently an elephant is 11,000 pounds.
Wow. We'll go with that. Okay. All right, Truer Falls Philosophy League, they helped us out earlier
this morning. Philosophy League, they partnered with the World Food Program to help refugees in
the Philippines. How many people, roughly, live in your neighborhood here at National Harbor?
Is it 1,000? Is it 2,000? Or is it more than 2,500? More than 2,500. It's about 2,700 people.
Probably wasn't that much when you first moved here, but it's been growing, right? And it's
growing. All right. Truer Falls, this statue behind us, the awakening that rises out of the
sand right by the water, that was created by legendary artist J. Seward Johnson. Truer Falls.
If you say false, I'm going to make you pick another artist. So I would just go true. Good
job. All right. Question number five. Okay. MGM National Harbor, which is right up the road,
is celebrating a birthday this year. Is it its 5th birthday, 10th birthday,
or 15th birthday for National Harbor? Ten, ten, ten. Ten it is.
Here's the first of two bonus questions. The capital wheel behind us,
the little gondolas that you sit in when you go around, how many do you think there are?
Pick a number between zero and 50. I've rolled it so many times. 42. That's awesome.
Now, bonus question number two. We talked about MGM's birthday.
It's Tucker Barnes' birthday tomorrow as well. Oh, really? How old is he going to be?
Oh, he looks so young. You know I'm going to give Tucker a low number.
Thank you so much. I appreciate you watching all the time. My pleasure. And you live in
a beautiful place. Thanks for inviting us in your home. Happy to do it at our harbor.
Thank you so much. All right. More to come. We'll take a short break.
And this has become a tradition, right? It really has here. So tell us about what you guys do. So
we are the United States Army Brass Quintet. We're a part of the United States Army Band Pershing Zone
in Fort Myer, Virginia. And we are performing tomorrow night with our concert band right
behind us here at 7 p.m. for a Salute to the Sunset concert. Next Saturday, we'll have a
rock band downrange. And us as a group and the unit in general, we perform for the musical backdrop
for music experiences across the area, whether it's the White House, Pentagon. We're being here
with you all this morning. We're always happy to be here. So what makes you more nervous,
performing for us or performing at the White House? For you, probably. Yeah, I get it.
You're right. I have two microphones in my face. You're around esteemed people here. Obviously,
all of you have been playing for years and years. Yes, sir. I'm just going to ask a question
because I ask awkward questions. Which instrument, in your opinion, is the hardest one to play?
Trumpet. Okay. Do you agree with him, sir? I do agree. Yeah, you do. I know about that.
Tucker, you guys, of course, you know, it has been a thing that we do kind of annually.
What are some of the coolest things you've been able to perform?
Oh, we get to do, yeah, as you said, across the country and some of the biggest
events that happen in our country. We do inaugurations. We do state funerals.
This group in itself has traveled to Korea, Finland, Cuba, Russia, around the world.
Memorable performances of the 250th anniversary? Yeah, we got to do a lot of really amazing
performances throughout the summer, both the quintet and our band in general. We did the big
250th celebration on the 4th of July. We supported the race. We supported everything
that happens throughout the summer. Every Friday night, our Capitol concerts in front
of the Capitol steps. We're playing all the time. So if you go to usarmyband.com,
it's a list of all of the performances for the entire unit, and they're always all free
and open to the public. Awesome. So what are you guys going to be performing for us tonight?
We're going to do a little Bad Bless America for you this morning. We love it.
All right, let's enjoy it, and I'll be paying particularly attention to the trumpet.
Guys, thank you. Thank you. You guys, how long have you been together for? This group has existed
for over 50 years in general. I've been here 19 up to our sergeant major over there 26 years,
so it all ranges quite a bit. It certainly sounds like you guys have practiced and have been
together for quite some time, and that is absolutely amazing. So thank you guys so much
for joining us. One more time, you guys are going to be performing here tomorrow, correct?
Our concert band will be here tomorrow night at 7 p.m., and next Saturday at 7 p.m. will be our
rock band called Downrange, same spot. Okay, one more time for more information on where
else you're performing? usarmyband.com. All right, and it's free. Free, always free and
open to the public. I did love the trumpet, but the trombone player down there, I think he kind
of stole the show. I'm going to have to hear about that now. Thank you. For me personally.
Hey, we love you all equally. We love all you guys. We love you all. Thank you all. Have a
great night.
Welcome back, and we're having a wonderful morning out here as a trip, our finale down
here at National Harbor, and one of the most beautiful features of National Harbor, and of
course in this area, the Potomac River, and I have the Potomac River keeper here, Dean, right?
Yep. All right, so what's your official title? I am the Potomac River keeper with Potomac River
Keeper Network. Okay. We have this amazing partnership with National Harbor, Virginia Tech,
and our friends at Maryland DNR to our 50 million mussel project. All right. So right here at the
harbor, we have about 3,500 mussels. These freshwater mussels are cleaning water every
single day, so just the mussels we have here. Hold it out, maybe we can see it. There you go.
Clean about 35,000 gallons of water per day, about 10 gallons per water. And how do you put them out
in the river? How do you keep them from just floating away? So what we're doing is we're
helping our hatcheries remove mussels from the hatchery. They grow faster in the river because
they're absorbing all the nutrients and pollution in the river. Got it. And then we tag them and
reintroduce them back into the river. So if we imagine if we had 50 million mussels back in the
river, that's our goal, that's our project. And naturally, would there be that many mussels in
the river? Well, we've lost a lot of mussels over the years. Just like down in the Chesapeake Bay,
there's a real effort to bring back our oysters. I'm starting to lose mine, too. Is there anything
you can help me with that? I can't help you with that. Anyway, these mussels are just incredible.
Our mission is to eliminate pollution in the river, and these mussels are helping us do that.
So a quick question for you. Tell me about the health of the Potomac. Is it doing better every
year, or is it a constant challenge? Well, I mean, obviously the sewage spill was a big setback,
but we are seeing record number of oysters down the lower Potomac, which is amazing. So the river
is trying to balance itself and fix itself. And so mussels and oysters, these are natural
filter feeders. The more we can put these back into our river, the cleaner our river is going
to be. What's the one thing all of us can do to help keep the river clean? You know, obviously
don't put wipes. Disposable wipes are not disposable. And the river, make sure we're
using products that are not causing harm to our sewage treatment plants, and obviously just, you
know, use products that are environmentally friendly. Do you have a website if people want
more information? PotomacRiverKeeperNetwork.org. All right, congratulations on the new program,
and make sure that mussel gets back out there. We need them. Okay, thank you so much. All right,
quick shout out to a family. Say hi. Hi, good afternoon, everyone. We got a birthday celebration?
Yes, Brittany and Braché's 29th birthday on tomorrow, September the 5th. I love it. Yes. All right,
and this young man belongs to you too? That's one of the twins, grandson, Blake. I love it. Yes. I
love it. Thank you. All right, we're gonna do some weather together quickly. It's getting hot and
steamy out here in a hurry. We're still having a great time. Looks quiet for the time being, but
I know we had big rock and rolling storms last night. It's a possibility again this afternoon,
so just be prepared for that. Temps in the 90s, could be some late afternoon thunderstorms,
and just like last night, in some cases they could be severe. Should be a much nicer weekend,
especially second half of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. All look fabulous. All right,
I'm gonna toss the brake. We got plenty more coming up. We're down here in National Harbor for
our Zip Trip finale. We'll see you in a moment. We're doing a reporter segment where she is in
the sixth grade, and you go to a local charter school, Reagan. It is so good to have you. How
are you feeling out here? I'm feeling really good. Because you're on the junior cheer sports,
right? Yes. Yeah, sometimes, right? Yes. All right, let's interview, and then we'll chit chat after.
Okay, I have some questions for you. Okay, I'm ready. So my first question is,
what's your favorite vacation spot? Oh, that's a tough one. I love to travel.
I'm gonna say Italy. Italy. Yes, Italy. Oh my gosh, I feel like you can just get so many
different types of vibes there, from Venice, to the city life, and Milan, Rome, it's so romantic,
and then the Amalfi Coast, of course, and you get all the beach experiences. Yeah,
love to travel. What is, my next question is, what is your favorite animal or pet?
Okay, my coworkers laugh because I love dogs. I'm a huge dog lover. I'd say any dog with
oodle in it, like a poodle, even a cockapoo, I'm obsessed. And they're also hypoallergenic dogs.
Okay, what was your, did you want to be a reporter when you were little?
You know what's so funny? It was always between being a journalist, telling stories that matter,
and giving voices to those who typically aren't heard, or becoming a lawyer. But it became very
evident for me, especially in college, what I loved doing the most, and I went ahead and majored
in journalism and media studies, and then, oh yeah, 15 years later, I'm still here.
Okay, next question is, what's your favorite thing to cook?
Oh my gosh, I'm always in the kitchen too. Okay, my favorite thing to cook, you know what?
What's your favorite food to eat? My favorite food to eat is,
the shrimp fried rice that me and my mom make in the kitchen. Okay, that sounds good. I love
a good fried rice, a crab fried rice is really good as well. What do you want to tell all of the
young people watching us, all the other kids, a lot of who are at home right now because schools
are closed, what advice do you have for other kids for just pursuing their dreams and their
passions? Is this something that you're doing with tears, for the commanders, and through your hobby?
What do you want to tell people when it comes to following their dreams? When it comes to following
your dreams, to go for it, no matter how far you have to reach, you just have to reach for it,
and grab it, and take control of it, and trust me, you'll go as far as you can go.
You are a bright and very wise young lady. Thank you. I'm so proud of you, I'm rooting for you.
About the season, and now it's time for your hometown team, which is always one of my
favorite segments of the morning. We have Shamari joining me right now,
thank you so much for joining me. Let's talk about who we have in the future. We have the
Top Ladies of Distinction, which is an incredible ladies organization right here in Prince George's
County, so please introduce yourself. Hi, I'm Jacqueline Wiltshire, I'm the National First
Vice President of Top Ladies of Distinction Incorporated, and also the organizer of the
Prince George's County Chapter. I'm Lady Carolyn Culver, the Chapter President of the gorgeous
Prince George's County Chapter. Good morning, and I'm Cassandra Chess, Chair for the Health
Event that's coming up in September. And we're going to get to that in just a second, and you
have a whole army of ladies right behind you. Let's talk about your organization, exactly what
you do. Our organization was founded in 1964. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving youth
and adults. We have five major programs for us to include the Top Teens of America,
Status of Women, Senior Citizens, Community Beautification, and Community Partnerships.
You also guys, you've reached a lot into the community, and you really focus on health.
Why is that important to you, and what do you want people to get out of it?
Basically, with this event and any health event we have, it gets free, so this is an opportunity
for us to get free. And where is it located again? It'll be at Old Prince Community Center,
and this is in partnership with the Prince George's County Partnership. We're also going
to have a blood drive this May, June, September 20th, at Old Prince Community Center.
All right, that's excellent. Yeah, do you have a chance to sign up for it ahead of time,
or do you need to show up? We do. If you need to show up,
lighten your register. I want to mention that this is a sponsored segment, right? That's right.
John C. Floyd, AC Heating, Plumbing, and Electrical. And I just want to, first of all,
thank you guys for being a part of this segment, sponsoring it. It's really hot out here. A lot of
folks are using their AC. Right, right. Well, I mean, on a day like today, you definitely do not
want it to break, and we the people will fix it for you. That's called plumbing, but yeah,
we're just happy to always be involved with these Zip Trips and with Box 5. So definitely on a day
like today, people are really stretching their systems to the limit, so be careful. All right,
I want to thank you all for coming. Thank you so much, and you know, I think you all are ready
to dance to the song right now, aren't you? Let's go do a little dance-a-lot.
For about 24 years, I've been teaching at most of the clubs in the area, including
MGM Diablo's. I teach at Salsa Room, Cafe Citroen,
18th Street Lounge, Public Bar, literally anywhere there's Salsa dancing in the DMV.
And we also do a little Bachata. This is one of my other instructors slash partners that we dance
all over the DMV. So if you go somewhere, you're going to know to find one of us,
and you can find me at landodosa.com. Perfect. You said Katrina's less than Bethesda, right?
Like Katrina and Bethesda, yeah. I think I passed by there before,
so I know which place you're talking about. So talk to me a little bit about the beauty of Salsa
dancing. What people really like about it, regardless of your background, your expertise.
It's just the music. The music is so lively and so happy. It literally makes you want to just
move. And even if you don't know what you're doing, it just makes you shake and love and
learn a little bit about the culture. I love that. So when you're somebody coming to some
of your Salsa dancing classes or lessons, what level of experience do you need, or what level
do you teach? Is it everybody from very young, very little, little expertise to very knowledgeable
people like yourself? You need nothing. You just show up, whether it's a beginner lesson,
or if I do have an intermediate, I always start from the beginning. I always show the basic.
I've had classes with little five-year-olds all the way to 50s, 60s, and if they're available,
70s, all ages. And some of my classes are for all ages. That's awesome. So I know there's
different types of Salsa dancing, right? What is the most popular one, and then one that's maybe
your favorite from the two of you guys? Well, the easiest one in the area would be a line dancing,
which is on one. Our favorite would be on two, which is a New York style. It's just, you know,
it's the same count. It's just a little more flair, a little more vibe. So, you know, we'll
show you a little bit of it today. Okay. Well, should I let you guys go back, take it away?
Let's go. Baby juggling. All right, here we go.
Okay, okay, all right. That's it. Okay. Forward, middle, middle. Back, middle, middle. Forward,
middle, middle. Back, middle, middle. Option number two. Okay. Side step. Here we go. Left,
middle, middle. Ah, okay. So we're doing a left, middle, middle. Cross, middle, middle.
Cross, middle, middle. Cross, middle, middle. Awesome. This is so fun. Thank you for having us.
We're going to be here for Hispanic Heritage Month. Oh, you are? Perfect. So where can people
find you and learn some more from your dancing? On Instagram, it's LandoDolce, L-A-N-D-O-D-O-L-C-E.
If you don't have social media, LandoDolce.com has all my monthly schedules. I do private lessons,
weddings, divorces, your time to learn, all the fun. We're going to be here the last two
Saturdays of September and the first two Saturdays, 4 and 6. Lesson, I'm going to try
and add a little salsa and bachata and have a little bit of dancing socially right here at
the National Harbor. Oh, that's perfect. Sounds like a fantastic show, Evie. Thank you for
teaching me. Thank you. My pleasure. Yes, yes, very much so. We're right here at the Western
National Harbor. We've been on the harbor as well. One of the cool things that I think really sets
you guys apart is there's a lot of hotel dining in the area. Yes. But there's not a lot of hotel
dining with a gorgeous view, which is even better than what we can see behind us. And that's
sweeping views of the Potomac. So once you come in, that's the first thing you notice.
So it's really nice. Yeah. Talk about the food that you all offer here. Yes. What can you get?
And how do you describe the cuisine? Yeah. That's American cuisine is what it is,
with some twist in it. I like a Mediterranean with the striped bass,
grilled french skinny orzo with a caper lemon beurre blanc sauce. Oh, that looks amazing. Or
the green pasta over here. Some of our special items are up there in front is our chicken wings
of harbor rub, double harbor rub. And then, of course, it's like salmon salad on there with a
roasted chipotle strawberry vinaigrette. Our steaks over there, steak and eggs,
any way you want it, eggs benedict. And of course, our shrimp and grits as well.
I think we've covered all the meals. I have to go back because I think I misheard the chef
with the salmon because you said that's a salmon salad. Now I would expect a salmon salad. I'm
going to have a tiny little piece of salmon on it. That's a meal. That's a meal in itself. It
sure is. It's really good too. That's very good. What's the best seller, Sean? Out of all of them,
I always like the catch of the day because, you know, we're under like every several weeks to a
month, whatever, we change it out seasonally. Got it. Yeah. All right. I see we've got some
libations over here. Yes, definitely. So you guys can definitely come see us for
any type of large party events. And then we also offer a table-side mixology. If you want to do it
as a package deal with you, all your friends, or just something to do on the weekend, we would
love to have you come out and experience mixology with us. So we have a Harbor Punch cocktail there.
And then we have our Mile High Martini. We have our Harbor Harvest. And then we have a mocktail.
So we have drinks for everyone. I love that. Now, which one? Oh, that's the mocktail there.
So this is the mocktail here. I would suggest trying the Harbor Punch.
The Harbor Punch? Steve, I'm gonna look. Yeah, let's see.
A nice hearty cocktail for you. Look, I'm high. What's this one? Yes, a Mile High Martini.
Mile High Martini. Okay. Yes. Let's give it a taste.
How is it? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Perfect. Perfect. I thought you were going to hand that to me,
Vicky. I was going to my first one. Hey, Steve. I mean, you've been going along. You've got some
over here. Is that the mocktail or is that a cocktail? No, this is the cocktail.
Cocktail, yeah. That's the Harbor Punch. The Harbor Punch. Which one should I try?
So you want to try the mocktail? No. No? I'll try the mocktail. I was going to say,
yeah, the mocktail and then the Mile High Martini is really great. That was the best of you.
I'll try that one. All right, cool. Let's do it. What do we have here?
So this is our award-winning Harbor Harvest. So our mixology won a contest based on this cocktail.
Okay, that's a win. All right. Cinnamon just gets all through it. There you go.
And what's in here? We're drinking without you right now.
That's quite all right. But you're also going to miss your drink. We also have like our vegan
burger up there. Yes. Coming up for burger of the week. Everything's on vegan there on the burger.
May scratch in-house. So I was going to say, with that burger, because you guys are,
and by you, I mean the whole National Harbor area, this would be burger contest
that comes up, right? Right. Is that going to be your entry in the burger contest?
Yes, it is. Vegan burger is all made from, you know, it's like the vegan burger itself,
vegan cheese, the vegan bread that's on. That's awesome. The potatoes, basically,
it's fried in oil. It's like a cornstarch slurry. What it is to get that crustiness on it.
We set ourselves a little bit different than most places around here. Yeah. Especially when
it comes to our burgers, our food as well. Okay, brunch hours, because you know,
the DMV loves a good brunch. Come on. So every Saturday and Sunday, come see us from 9,
from 7 a.m. to 3 o'clock. Oh, that's nice and long too. Nice and long brunch. You can come,
you don't have to wake up that early. Right. Go out of the van and come to Society and see us.
There you go. I have to ask, because I was even curious about the name itself,
and it's Society. Society. Exactly. We specialize in all of our own sauces,
so Chef Deco and his team creates them from scratch in-house, so come out and try them.
Chef, I want to ask you, because I know you're a long time, you've been, first of all,
here for a while, but you're a long-time veteran of the DC area. I am, off and on. I've lived in
Chicago for 15 years, whatever, Mississippi, whatever. Different places, trying to get
different cuisines, learning different things, and bringing it back to where I work. Which is,
you've been here for decades now in the DC area. What do you love about this area,
about National Harbor, about being able to literally feed guests from all over the world?
I'm going to say I love the people mostly. I love the people mostly in the DC area,
whatever. And there's no shortage of that coming in and out of the National Harbor.
But that's amazing. How can folks get more information, make reservations if they want
to? Where should they go? Absolutely. I'm sorry, how can people get more information,
make reservations? Oh, you can definitely find us on Open Table. You can go through
Weston, our website, and you can go through Marriott as well. Okay. Or check out Marriott.com.
Wonderful. All right. Thank you guys so much. Thank you for having us. Appreciate it. Cheers
to society, guys. Cheers. This is good. They said this is a motel.
And not just today, but each and every time we've done this this summer, right, Makia?
Absolutely. Let's take a look back at how this season has gone.
Pretty much any cuisine around the world in Rockville, but we're also the number one.
Third slide. I think we've kind of seen some of the hard work we've made here
of our zip trips. But we used to pick a moment that we enjoyed this summer. I loved when we
were in Annapolis, just because I love being on the water. And that was like our 4th of July show.
To me, that was a blast. Yeah. For me, I really love Navy Yard,
because my husband actually came out and surprised me. And all of the zippies,
all of our visitors and the viewers here, they came out and said hello to him. So it just shows
you what a community we are here with our Fox 5 family and our viewers. And they know when.
They know when. They know everybody. The way I do all this stuff for my baby boy at home
is so heartwarming. You actually are our family. The viewers wake up every morning and you allow
us into your living room. It means a lot to us. So those are just a few of our favorites for the
zip trip. And this is the final one. So send it over to us. I'm sure you have some fun memories,
too. Oh, gosh. I love them all. I love you guys more. The Fox 5 family and show Shamari Stone,
thanks for coming out. I have to say, though, the D.C. Navy Yard one, that's my most memorable,
because we had triple digit eat. We're still out there partying. We're going to keep the
party going here right after today's zip trip with the Marissa Mitchell Show at 11 a.m.
Ma'am, did you not hear the question? I thought it says shoe size.
Get the holiday weekend started early with laughter. Comedian delay is stopping by ahead
of his shows in Arlington. You'll see why he has won over fans on HBO's iconic all deaf comedy and
also scan the QR code to send him a question or a comment. We're getting to those on air.
No matter your age, stage or wage is never too late for a fresh start. In today's revamped,
we're going to have life coach Kendall Lenny. She's going to share the steps to start your
best chapter yet. Then after that, keep your summer glow as we wrap up the season. Sean's
Organic Skin Care and Med Spa will stop by with some fall skin care tips simple enough to add
into your daily routine. We'll be right back live from the zip trip at National Harbor.
