With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 News.
Now, five, a live look inside American Family Field.
The countdown is on.
We are just two hours away from first pitch of the World Series.
Okay, that really came out of your mouth.
It's happening.
The World Series.
News team assemble.
We've got team coverage.
Look who is out there getting you set.
We've got the whole team.
Tim Van Boren, Brandon Cruz, Lily Zhao.
And when Ted Perry goes out amongst the parking lot,
a crowd arrives and gathers.
Ted, let's start with you.
Just breathe for a second.
All right.
Wait, what happened to Let's Go Teddy?
I like that one.
You guys are good.
All right.
Wait, we'll do that in a second.
We'll do that in a second.
Hey, everybody's here from Elm Grove to Rhinelander is in the house.
Oshkosh is in the house.
And Mosquito's in the house.
And this was at one time some pig.
No longer.
It's now a delicious ham on the tailgate.
And who's the chef? Nice job, chef, on that.
Oh, it's a beaut. It's a beaut.
So we're out here. We're having fun.
We're going to talk to some of these folks as the special goes on.
But let's go inside because there's a major development today,
and that is that Brandon Woodruff has been added to the roster.
Tim Van Voren, that's playing well out here.
How's it playing in there?
I hear the Woody cheers out there.
Ted, and I can understand why
a very popular brewer has had his injury problems.
He is a leader in the clubhouse.
His teammates love him.
Obviously, Brewer fans respect him as well.
But there was really a question.
Would you put Brandon Woodruff
on the active roster for the World Series
when he hasn't pitched in months?
He's coming back from a shoulder injury.
What could he have to offer?
The Brewers think he has plenty to offer.
He's on the roster, and he's expected to contribute a lot.
Yeah, you know, I'm trying to stay where my feet are right now.
I think our team's in a great place.
um and we've gotten here by doing a lot of great things
and um if that opportunity comes for me
uh you know i'm i'm gonna be i'll be ready
for the moment um and i'll give it everything i've
got you know i mean we don't know how things
are going to work out for us ever as athletes
but the one thing you can do is be prepared
and uh that's one thing i'll be i'll be i'll be prepared
if my opportunity comes yeah i mean it's something
that he had kind of marked off when when he came
back from from uh making the decision he's not going to have surgery
and he said this is how it
here's my throwing program here's how it plays out you know there's
a shot if uh we're in the
world series that that's right about the time i can be ready
and i feel confident so with that
um we just we didn't think much anything of it
at the time we had a job to do we had our head down
and we watched him progress.
Then we watched him throw, and then we watched him go out in lives
and the way he threw the baseball.
We're like, well, it's better than it was earlier in the season,
you know, as far as stuff.
We know who the kid is.
We know his, you know, that it's not going to be too much for him.
Brandon Woodruff talked there about being ready for the opportunity.
You never know how things are going to go.
He was in high school.
He'd never been on a plane.
He was invited to a showcase up at Wrigley Field.
He took that trip.
The scouts started to get all over him,
and things took off in his baseball career for him.
because he was ready for that opportunity
without really knowing what he was getting into.
Brandon Cruz, Lily Zhao,
inside American Family Field with me here tonight
as we count down to game one.
Being ready for the moment
is something we can discuss with Brandon Woodruff,
but really this entire Brewers team, Brandon.
Yeah, you're right.
And, you know, we just heard the Violent Femmes play day after day.
That's what this team does.
They focus on the day and then the day after
and then the day after that.
And that's what Brandon Woodruff did
to get ready for this World Series.
He just focused on the details.
He focused on getting healthier.
He did his pitching program all the way through.
Once he realized he wasn't having surgery,
he put in the work to try to make this happen.
It did.
The team also did the same thing, Lily.
This team put in the work, and day after day,
they were able to get wins
and stack them up to 103 during the season,
seven more in the postseason.
and it's all because they focus on the here and now.
And that's, again, I think they don't look
at too big of a picture, right?
They know they're playing in the World Series.
They knew they were playing in the National League Championship Series
with a chance to move to the stage,
but they just took it one day at a time.
And I think Pat Murphy was asked earlier
today about kind of taking it all in.
Have you thought about the responsibility
to manage a team in a World Series?
And he's like, I don't think about that.
And I think that's kind of why this team plays the way it does
because that's the mentality of their manager.
They know what is at stake, but they don't let
that affect them in terms of how they play.
Because if you think about it, you think about,
I'm playing a World Series that comes with pressure,
that comes with high expectations,
but they have that for themselves anyway.
And so that's what makes this team
so special in the fact that they never give up.
They'll play those full 27 outs.
They know they can come back each and every time.
And we saw them respond against the Padres, against the Dodgers.
They will have to do that against the Rays in this series, Tim.
Well, Lily and Brandon, you're exactly right.
for folks who didn't catch it.
Woodruff is selected for this roster
after not being on during the Padres and Dodgers.
Chad Patrick has taken off the roster
for that spot in the bullpen,
potentially a spot start.
Brandon Woodruff did get some work this week
with nobody in the ballpark.
You saw the video,
trying to see exactly where he was.
The Brewers have had a long stretch here.
They've tried to stay in tune.
Are you worried at all about Russ
or having to reboot Brandon
after such an emotional high in Los Angeles?
I'm really not.
Just because they had the experience after the regular season
and had to wait for the Padres.
And then they also did it last year.
And Sal Frelick was talking about that this afternoon.
They understand what these breaks are like.
And they know how to keep themselves ready.
They know how to go about all of the work that goes into that.
Because it wasn't like they were just sitting at home.
They were here at the ballpark.
They were going through their routine,
even though the normal routine is games.
in this case it was just making sure they stayed
sharp they had you know live pitching including
facing Brandon Woodruff so Lily
when you see the fact that they accept what's in front of them
and understand that even
though they're not playing games they're still sticking to a routine
yeah that's what is so important especially with this long layoff
and listen they'll take a sweep
any day that they can get one right
and the fact that they did that meant they had over a week to
prepare so that's really a winning game plan
for them is to stick to the routine do everything
thing they can to make it normal
but know the preparation is always there these guys have been
grinding so hard they're doing all the media
their media obligations they're chatting with us but
they're also just doing so well in terms of their preparation
because there is no higher stage than
playing in a World Series representing your team
your city your fans for a chance to win their
first World Series title in franchise history
so a lot is riding on their shoulders but this team
seems prepared for the moment and that is what makes them again
so special and as they ride out
this and as we see fans kind of come in here oh
the atmosphere it's getting electric
it is definitely picking up in here i think it will
with the baseball being played as well
the Brewers we know what kind of baseball team they
are the Rays an eclectic team as well and
electric at times they have a player named Chandler Simmons
as fast as you'll find on the
base pass he's run against the Brewers before
this is really a matchup Brandon where you have
to take advantage of what you do well
because the other team can counter that yeah and that's what
you see here that's why this is such
a fascinating World Series matchup two very similar teams and
it's going to be the team that can take advantage
of their opportunities that's going to win the
game and then ultimately the series
and what you see with the Rays you mentioned is their speed
but they do also have some power
and they have the ability to put big runs on the board where
they need to and they're never really out
of games really just like the Brewers they have the ability
to fight back from deficits
and to also play great defense to keep a small lead a lead.
Yeah, and again, that is what makes them
so difficult, like you mentioned.
And it's everything that they do right
is what the Brewers can do right as well.
And so you also look at their pitching, though.
They have those pitchers, Drew Rasmussen,
Freddie Peralta, Nick Martinez,
who's starting in game one,
their ability not to give walks and draw walks.
So that is so important for this Brewers team
to be disciplined at the plate,
know when they got to have a good take
and see if they can get a free walk there because if they
can't I mean it's going to be hard to get on base
but that's what makes this Rays pitching staff so
difficult but on the other end you look at this Brewers bullpen
and they have been just unhittable
outside of one third of an inning
so it's really a nice chess match in terms of which team will
strike first which one will make a mistake
and who will capitalize Brewers team hoping that's them
just the way it should be two teams
in top form playing for baseball's championship
Lily Zhou, Brandon Cruz will join me again
as we continue to build up for this game we're going
back outside to Ted Perry, Ted I know we're talking about
this week off during the regular season say
the brewers play 13 games in a row
or something they have an off day people are kind of lost what
do i do where's the game they've
been off since last week everybody's ready for baseball to be
played again. Yeah, that's right, Tim.
They got to get their muscle memory back, as do tailgaters,
Tim. Thanks very much. Hey, I'm here with Jim Becker from Muskego.
You were at game four in
1982, a game they won. What sticks out to you about that day?
Robin Yount, two home runs,
12 years old. My brother and I went to about 40,
50 games that year, 50 cents in the bleachers,
and mom came home with two tickets and said,
hey, they're yours, or we can sell them. And my
brother and I are like no we're going we're going
so we went. Has it been worth the wait? Well, a little
too long, a little too long. Let's
not wait another 44 years, let's go have fun at your barbecue and
we're going to break. Look up, there's a drone wave
at the drone as we go to break here. I know you I
can't see it but I'm told it's there
but they're looking at us now, we're only right back on a
special edition of Fox 6 News
at five on Game One
of the World Series. Welcome back everybody
to a special edition of Fox 6 News at 5
on this Game One of the World Series,
a series that Milwaukee has waited 44 years.
You're taking a live look
at the batting practice of the Tampa Bay Rays.
I know how perilous that can be.
Junior Caminero almost took my head off last night, so I said,
I'm going outside during batting practice,
and I'm joining you now outside of American Family Field.
That's Will and Jenna from Oconomowoc.
That's his mom just playing a little catch, getting ready for the game.
just you know it's a typical southeastern Wisconsin scene out here
the tailgates are going
fans are having a good time everybody is pumped
and those who can't be here are gathering at
watch parties including one at Pfizer Forum kind
of a double header today, Sam Kramer
yes hello from the Deer District
which certainly has a little bit of history and knows a thing or
two about how to host a proper watch party what you see behind me
is Tom's watch one of the you
know, kind of anchor bars here in the Deer District,
which is starting really to fill
up the Bucs game, which they are showing
on a screen behind the camera is in the fourth
quarter.
So the fans that are hanging on are still inside.
The expectation is a number of them will hang out around
this big screen inside the bars
here, the new fashion as well, to just kind of soak up the energy.
Won't be nearly as big as the crowds we saw
here five years ago when the Bucs won their
title.
But still, you can imagine that a number
of fans that root for both of these teams
that maybe didn't want to spend an arm
and a leg and another arm and a leg on tickets
will still want to feel the energy,
and what better way than to be here?
And we did catch up with some fans
that are doing the double either tonight
or here for the Bucs game tonight going to the game tomorrow that said,
yeah, they just want to be part of it,
including one man, Chris McDonald,
who I met, grew up in Racine,
now lives in Phoenix, who said he made a promise
to himself that if ever the Brewers made it back
to the World Series he had to see it. I've always
said whenever the Brewers made
the World Series I'd spend stupid money to come here and they did
it and I spent stupid money to be here.
And Chris talked about growing up here just as I had and we
kind of shared this moment like the 1982 Brewers
are revered here in Milwaukee and really in
Wisconsin as a whole. Ted I did a live shot earlier
with their sister station down in Houston
in which the the fine anchor there asked what would Milwaukee
do if they win do you guys party
up there which is really a loaded question
to which i had to remind her look this city threw
a parade for a team that lost the World Series okay keep in mind we're
also the beer capital
of the world you imagine what this place would
be like if the Brewers can win four more times
so certainly a lot of anticipation not just at watch parties
but uh at house parties neighborhood
block parties. You know, there will be
impromptu parties tonight if the Brewers can
do what we all hope they can do. So, we're going to
be out here holding it down. Imagine you will be doing the same
in the parking lots, and we are all
hunkered down for what will be a long and what we
hope will be a joyous night.
Send it back to you, Dan Pham.
You've got to get things started with Game 1. Sam, I made
the same point to our Minneapolis station
yesterday. We gave a parade to the
second-place team. They'll shut down I-94
if this team wins it all.
Sam Kramer, thanks very much. Hey, I want to talk
to Will from Oconomowoc playing
catch with his mom. Will, how old are you?
Eleven. You're eleven and you're going to the
World Series. You've got no memory of the 82 team, obviously.
Look at your gold and blue braces. I
love them. Those are sharp and you're all decked out.
How excited are you for what's going to
happen tonight? I'm very excited. Yeah?
Well, did you get off school early to come to this? No,
I didn't have school today. Oh, you didn't have school today.
Awesome. Who's your favorite player
and what do you want to see happen tonight?
Sal Frelick and I know he hasn't been hitting a lot
home runs so I feel like I want him to hit a home run tonight.
So we're calling a Sal Frelick home run?
Yeah. Alright, well let's see your best shot to mom here. Let's go.
Will and his mom Jenna playing catch.
Guys, we're going to send it to break, but this
is the scene all over. Folks are starting to go in. They want to catch
every moment that they can. Oh, Will with a fastball. Mom,
you've got to work on your defense.
We'll be right back. Hey, good job, buddy.
Junior Caminero now taking batting practice for the Tampa Bay
Rays and two of them in batting practice last night hit the scoreboard.
One hit 15 feet away
from me. The other was making a direct line
for the back of my head before my photojournalist
Jake Salzman stepped in and saved the day.
So we're out here, guys, and we're out here at a
good omen. The 1957 World Champions,
Milwaukee's only World Series winning team, 1957. What a team
It was some big names there, big names there.
Wasn't around for that, was around for 82.
Tim Van Voren, we were very much the same age.
You're, I think, a year or two younger than me.
What memories do you have of that 1982 team?
They were Milwaukee.
You know this iteration of the Brewers is Milwaukee 2026.
That was Milwaukee 1982.
Stormin' Boozer, Gorman Thomas, Pete Vukovich, Jim Gantner,
obviously Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, so many guys, household names,
had been with the organization for several years.
People had seen them play.
You didn't see every game on TV back in the day, Ted.
It was a different era of Major League Baseball.
And that team, Harvey's Wallbangers, what a perfect nickname.
That's the kind of baseball they played.
They took it into the World Series.
They came up short.
There was a parade for them downtown, as we've all talked about,
and Milwaukee turned out for that parade because this was their team.
This was their guys.
This was not a championship team, though.
That's what this team has a chance to top, Ted.
And what I loved, Tim, about that 82 team,
they are so supportive of this year's team and this current run.
They'll be as happy as anyone
if this team can win four more games in this upcoming week.
I love that support from generation to generation.
Absolutely.
There's none of this, well, this is our territory.
We don't want to give that up.
No way.
This is a Brewer thing.
It's Brewers through the years.
Even Christian Yelich this year being named the captain of the team,
which is a rare thing in baseball.
Only three captains exist in Major League Baseball currently.
He was reluctant to take on that honor until he had
the chance to talk to Robin Yount
to see if it was okay.
Robin Yount, 1982.
The kid, the captain, Christian Yelich, everything connects, Ted.
I love Bryce Turang was asked at Media Day yesterday by a reporter,
if you could have one piece of memorabilia
from a World Series, he didn't hesitate.
He said Robin Yount's glove, his shortstop glove,
not his center fielder's glove.
Bryce Turang is thinking about that 82 team.
Look, these guys weren't even born when that 82 team was around.
Many of their parents were young at that stage in their lives.
But there's a reverence that works both ways here,
and I like seeing that as well.
All right, Tim, what's it like inside right now?
Because outside, tailgates are starting to close up a little bit.
People want to make sure they get in line.
They don't want to be caught outside.
Tell me what the atmosphere is like inside.
It's really building in here.
I think you can see behind me a lot
of media still flanking the baselines,
but a lot of fans in here.
You're exactly right, Ted.
We're an hour and a half from game time
If you're doing this on a Tuesday night in May
You're not seeing this many fans inside this early
The Rays are taking batting practice right now
People don't want to miss out on any part of this
They paid a lot of money to be here
They want to see the whole experience
You're going to get the introductions of the teams
Prior to the start of this World Series
And as you, I know, are a big fan of watching the game
When you're in the seats
Not going to get the concessions during the inning
That sort of thing
These people are going to watch baseball here tonight
You can have a game turn in the first inning.
Nobody wants to miss a thing.
Ted, people are preparing for that.
Wrapping up where you are, rolling in where I am.
And I will be joining you inside pretty soon, Tim.
But we're going to keep talking to folks out here.
We're going to take a quick break
on this special edition of Fox 6 News at 5.
Let's give you another shot from above one
of our drone shots looking down on American Family Field
and all the thousands and thousands of tailgaters.
We'll be right back on Fox 6 News at 5.
Welcome back to Fox 6 News at 5,
our special edition on this game one of the
World Series that you'll see right here on Fox.
All four, five, six, seven games right here where you're watching
right now and you're looking at batting practice from center field.
People are just coming in. We're just going to go down.
All right. There's the excitement. You can see it right there.
We're just going to hop in the flow.
We're just going to go with the flow. All right.
We're hopping in. We're walking with you.
we're walking with you where you guys from what
are you thinking about tonight oh my gosh you're
not going to believe this yeah tampa florida you're
from tampa yeah and your brewer fans
were you raised here so my family was okay
so you're in wisconsin yeah and you are a florida
guy who just became a brewer fan
or yes by marriage okay got to you made the right choice
absolutely how excited are you guys for tonight oh
my gosh i can't even put it into words like
it's been 44 years my dad went to the last World Series so like another
generation like I get to go it's it's crazy
this is a dream come true honestly
okay now you're wearing the Brewer fan
because your wife made you a Brewer fan
when you go to the office are you putting on a Tampa hat absolutely not
you're legit they wanted me to root
for the Rays okay they were like but you're
gonna stay true right it was like no way
not a chance marriage is not a chance
all right well go enjoy you've waited
a long time for this thanks for stopping
And that's just the flow of people just coming through here guys.
Everyone's everyone's got a story. These guys got a story
What's your story? How long you guys been Brewers fans
if you're gonna tell me all your life, right?
Man since like the day I like knew what baseball was we knew what baseball
was you were how excited are you guys?
How confident are you guys?
I'm like very confident very excited for today.
What about you? I'm very excited
I'm very confident that the Brewers are gonna win.
Who's your favorite player?
Jackson Chervin. Jackson Chervin is a good choice.
And yours? I have the yellow
jersey, but I prefer the Miz.
Okay, you have the yellow jersey, but you prefer the
Miz. Alright, thanks fellas. Have fun tonight.
Go Brewers. Let's go win a World
Series. Alright, that's the story here.
People are just excited. They're giddy.
They're just coming up and telling any story,
anything about their connection
with this team. Maybe they don't live here.
Maybe they came back. Maybe they've
been lifelong Brewers fans. It always
cracks me up when kids say they've been
lifelong Brewers fans, as if they've had
any other choice. So that's the story. I
Am I going inside to Tim?
Where am I going?
Tim.
Tim, I'll send it inside to you.
I'm just digging the people and the enthusiasm out here.
Which is great.
All those people streaming in.
All the different types of Brewer jerseys, even the Wisco jerseys.
Of course, those are new this season,
really trying to reach out to the entire state.
People have embraced this baseball team,
and I would say this baseball team has embraced it back
and understood the connection to the community.
Sometimes, guys, they're almost mercenaries.
Maybe you come in at the trade deadline, you don't know anything.
You might be a good player in any sport,
but you're just applying your craft.
That's not the case here.
This is a team representing the city, representing the state.
And when you hear the comments of Christian Yelich, Pat Murphy,
they understand what this means to all folks here.
That's just exciting.
Like you said, we've been close a few times.
We've been knocking on the door to being in this series
and having this opportunity,
but now that it's finally here, it's awesome.
You just kind of see how excited everybody is in the city,
and you can kind of feel the energy.
It's been awesome, and I think everybody's
really looking forward to tonight
and just getting this thing started.
Can you describe what makes it different, what makes it unique,
what makes it special, and especially on nights like this one,
the World Series in town?
Yeah, it's people, you know, for sure.
You think about people in this community and how proud they are to say
they're Brewer fans and how supportive they've been.
how they've come out to support the the stars
and the people that we have here
kind of the relationship between the team the organization
and the community it's very easy
it's very you know blended and it starts with our owner
so when you think about stadiums
you just end up loving it
because it just it's just really consistent it's comfortable
and in these atmosphere postseason atmospheres it's super loud
and um yeah guys love it here
everybody says they love it here
and uh the stadium makes a huge difference um but the people
in the stadium make it even better two-time
national league manager of the year he could
easily win a third time as well he could
be the ambassador for the city he could be the
ambassador for the brewers he says everything
perfectly right there this series is going to
be interesting. It's got the roof here in Milwaukee.
It's got a roof in Tampa Bay. Your
games are scheduled for 7 o'clock. Guess what?
They'll all start at 7 o'clock. And indoor baseball
is a whole lot different, Brandon Cruz and Lily Zhao,
than if the Brewers were playing three of
these games potentially in Cleveland this time of year.
You can run. You can stretch. You can do
the things you want to do as a baseball team.
In fact, the Rays are trying to do the same thing,
bridge. And the other thing that matters here with the roof
and the dome down there as well
is that the ball is going to carry
the wet cold weather won't slow it down and it's not going to
slow the game down and it's not going to keep the pitchers cold.
I mean the one thing is the stable
temperatures are going to make such a difference in here
and when you look at the way the pitchers
are you want them to stay hot like tonight.
Jacob Mizorowski wants to get into a groove
and when you're playing in cold weather that's
not as easy to do but the warmth in here is going
to help him for sure at least physically yeah
at least physically through this crowd that can also
add you talk about stable conditions across the board
and even playing field for both sides that
is going to be so crucial i think for Miz just to get
into that mental headspace knowing that again
it's a privilege to get the ball in game one of a world series
so he knows what is at stake again
has to keep that control he can throw it really fast as we know
but the command of that strike
zone has to be on par got longer that was his the Dodgers
the Brewers will look for some length
and so we will see a matchup I think
if Miz can get a shot in this game
but although the conditions
are perfect for World Series.
You mentioned the Brewers bullpen being spectacular I think that's
a perfect word for it what a lockdown unit it has
been in this postseason really throughout
this season. A lot of different guys have kind
of floated through there as the season's gone along.
Matt Murphy seems very comfortable going to his guys
in a certain flow right now. And how much
importance would you put on that?
Brandon, Lily, you guys watched the last series right there in
Los Angeles. It used to be cliche.
They get into that team's bullpen. That's the worst possible
thing for opponents to do with the Brewers. It is.
And they have such a good ability to put the
right guy in at the right time.
If you look at the last game, Aaron Ashby closed it out
because it all set up with the way the lineup was,
and he was also able to pitch out a leadoff
double a couple of times.
Also in that series, JoJo Romero was huge when he was called upon.
We haven't seen a whole lot of him
because he came over late in the season with a trade
and then he was injured, but I think
that they're able to get guys in. Andrew Urimi
anywhere from the fifth inning all the way to the eighth
so to me Billy when you look at this
it's all set up to get to Trevor McGill
and they've delivered every time out they really
have and I think that's what you love about this bullpen
is they can go in any sort of high leverage
situation and get the out but it
also helps they have that great defense behind it but I think it's
also again their ability to get the width going
and I think that's the difference between these
two teams is that you look at the Rays
and their starters are going deeper into games and their
bullpen is effective but their starters
are the ones getting outs later in the game but it's the
complete opposite for the brewers
because their bullpen is doing the heavy lifting for their
starters and so you have to imagine the series goes
the distance we'll see if these arms can
hold up but thus far they have been so good
at locking down these hitters and we talk about the
high pressure situations in Los Angeles with the runner on third
and back to back innings for Aaron
Ashby he gets out of it calm cool collected
and Trevor McGill shuts things down and that's what
you love about this bullpen, Tim, is the versatility.
But again, just above all else,
playing as a team, very effective.
Run prevention. We've heard that term here in Milwaukee over the last
few years. The bullpen a big part of that.
The defense a big part of that. The Brewers have
been a little shaky in the postseason
in a department where they really like to lock
it down. The Rays play good defense.
Let's watch that as this series unfolds
as well. More coming up on this special edition of Fox 6
leading you up to the game one of the World Series.
You're seeing the Rays in the batting cage right now.
You'll see everything that happens here at American Family Field
all night long through this opening game
of the Fall Classic and beyond.
Keep it here.
Welcome back
to American Family Field.
They just keep coming and coming and coming.
They are waiting to get inside.
They are ready to get inside.
Let's go to Abril Parisiato.
at Zocalo Food Court because they're having a little watch party there.
April, take it away.
That's right, you guys.
The vibes are definitely picking up out here at Zocalo Food Truck Park
as we're getting closer to game time.
And obviously, people are obviously
also getting their spirits in right now.
We have our friends out here, Tim and Chad,
that are obviously, it looks like this is your first beer of the night?
This is my sixth.
Your sixth? Oh, my gosh.
Definitely my first, yeah.
Wink, wink.
How are you guys feeling about tonight?
How are the vibes so far?
Energetic.
Everyone knows the Brewers are going to win,
so we're just excited to watch it happen.
Absolutely.
Can we get the camera to show off the chains that you guys have on?
Look at the swag.
Why?
I 3D printed these in my basement.
So obviously a lot of excitement right here.
Can I get a Let's Go Brewers just to send it off?
Let's Go Brewers!
All right,
sounds good
there, April.
Thanks very much.
guys. This is the ball that Junior Caminero almost took
my head off with last night during
batting practice. I'm looking for a Rays fan.
Are you a Rays fan? Are you really? Come here.
Are you serious? She is a Tampa Bay.
It says Tampa Bay. In spirit of goodwill, you're not
going home with a championship, so we'd like to have a ball.
This was actually hit in batting
practice by Junior Caminero. It almost killed me.
I don't want the bad juju. You can have it.
enjoy your time in Milwaukee. There you go.
That's yours to keep. There's no trick. There you go.
We're just making friends here.
We're showing our game-like, guys, our friendliness. Are we
throwing a break right now, Brian? Talk to me.
Okay, sorry. So loud I can't hear my producer.
We're going to take a quick break and come back
and wrap things up. Welcome back to the Fox 6
World Series Media Day News Special.
Actually, that was yesterday. Today is game one, our special,
and we're going to get back to Anne Vanfield in just a moment.
Well, first, let's take a moment
and tell you some of the news that's happening today.
Some Brewers fans got some bad news this morning.
They thought they were going to game one.
Then they got an email from StubHub saying,
uh-oh, there was an issue with their tickets.
One of those people was Ron Richka in Oconomowoc.
He had three tickets together for tonight's game.
He says he went on autopilot and immediately bought three new tickets
in two different sections.
He says as a loyal fan, it was upsetting.
I was four years old.
I don't remember when they went last time, but my boy will remember it.
And I've been a lifelong Brewer fan through the thick
and the thin, and my heart stopped.
StubHub did refund his original tickets,
but Richka says his new tickets cost $4,600 more.
StubHub's policy is that fans get tickets or their money back.
It says sellers were unable to complete
a limited number of World Series orders.
We know how much this means to Milwaukee fans,
and we're working to get as many of them as possible into the game.
Let's take a live look out there where
the tailgating weather has been perfect.
Look at that beautiful sunset over American Family Field.
And let's get to Stephanie Barakello. Hey, Steph.
Hi, guys. Thankfully, the weather is quiet.
We had been dealing with a bit of fog here or there.
It is now out over the lake where it should stay
the rest of the evening.
So, again, we can just sit back, relax,
and enjoy a great evening ahead.
Another live look for you. That same shot at American Family Field.
Man, golden hour looked absolutely stunning
from this camera just a short time ago.
Temperatures are very comfortable. 61 Milwaukee, 66 in Waukesha.
A little bit warmer out towards the west.
Now, I know the roof is closed, but during the game,
we'll see an increase in cloud cover,
and that's actually going to keep us from falling too much.
Temperatures will be slowly dropping through the 50s,
but as you're heading home from the game,
absolutely no weather problems.
looking ahead to tomorrow never too early
to talk about tomorrow's game as well still going to be
hanging on to a little bit of that cloud cover temperatures
though for tailgating a mix of middle
and upper 60s going to be fantastic again just a bit breezy
but overall we are looking fantastic
both tonight as well as throughout the day tomorrow
and for game time tomorrow with even
some slightly warmer temperatures all right coming up after
the break we're going to talk to Ted
one final time before Brewers coverage
takes over we'll be right back
and go Brewers welcome back
everybody to American Family Field it's almost time
to play ball a little more than an hour away
from the first pitch and all the ceremonies let's bring
in the Fox Six sports team once again
and guys i'll throw it to you
and just say final thoughts as we go into game one of the World
Series well Ted the uh the Brewers have done
their on-field work the Rays have done their
Now the groundskeepers are doing
their grounds field work to get this all ready to go.
And Lily, Sal, Brandon, Cruz, I feel a palpable energy in here.
Would you agree?
I would, yes.
The fans are feeling it.
These are some premium seats that fans
are getting to witness the World Series.
Palpable, I think, is the way to describe this, Ted Perry.
There's a lot of enthusiasm in here.
I'm sure out there there has been.
What an opportunity for Milwaukee as a community, as a city,
and what an opportunity for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Absolutely, Tim.
And the sun has set out here,
and so every last tailgate is wrapping up.
The hot coals are being put into the big cement cylinders.
Chairs are being packed up, and people are getting ready to come inside
and feel that excitement that you're already feeling.
Tim, they've waited a long time for this.
At some point, you've got to play ball,
and we're just about at that point.
I know you don't like to make predictions,
but you've heard the guys talking today.
You've seen them in BP.
Do you have a good feeling that we're at least in for a good ball game?
Oh, I think a tremendous game.
I think a tremendous series for sure.
Obviously, in baseball, things could go either way.
I definitely don't think the Brewers are too rusty.
I don't think they're overwhelmed by this moment, any of that stuff.
They're ready to go.
This is the best in baseball.
It's the top folks in baseball.
Rob Manfred, the commissioner, just down from me a moment ago.
And, of course, the former commissioner, Bud Selig, here to see
these Brewers do what his Brewers prior to this couldn't quite do.
We'll see, Ted.
My guess is it's going to be terrific baseball,
even if you're just a baseball fan.
Great atmosphere, great action on the field.
Great.
We got Lily and Brandon back.
Guys, you want to pipe in?
Yeah, I think the crowd's going to play a huge factor in this,
and it could really jolt the Brewers.
The other thing is they have to be able to withstand the next wave,
and that's where the difference is going to be made.
I think it's going to be a low-scoring game.
I think the bullpen for the Brewers
is going to make a big difference in this,
but I think the crowd is the X factor,
and I can't wait to hear what they contribute
to Game 1 of the World Series
here in Milwaukee.
Ted?
Thanks to Lily and thanks to Tim I have one
final I'm thinking about the late George Petak
the state senator from Racine
who cast the final vote to allow Polar Park and Family Field
to be built he passed away in 2024
but without that vote game one is not happening in Milwaukee
