Powerful transformers, 186 kilometers of cables, and other energy equipment are being shipped from Azerbaijan to Ukraine. The shipments are intended to help improve the country's energy system's resilience ahead of the heating season. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha reported this on his X page. The head of the Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the people of the country for their support of Ukraine. Sybiga noted that Kyiv highly values Baku's assistance and practical support for the Ukrainian energy sector. "Another shipment of vital energy equipment is being sent from Azerbaijan to Ukraine, including powerful transformers, 186 km of electrical cables and other equipment to help strengthen the resilience of our energy system ahead of the heating season," the diplomat wrote.
The aid was dispatched by the Ministry of Energy pursuant to an order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 21, 2026. The shipment was assembled based on a request from the Ukrainian side and dispatched from the Sumgayit Technology Park. It included cables, wires, transformers and other electrical equipment worth a total of 2.5 million Azerbaijani manats. Additional details of the delivery were reported by Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Gusev on his Facebook page . According to him, a total of 10 heavy-duty trucks will be sent to Ukraine. They will soon deliver energy equipment to the country. Strengthening Ukraine's energy sector is extremely important given the ongoing attacks by the aggressor state Russia on energy facilities in Ukraine.
The relations of mutual trust and partnership historically established between Azerbaijan and Ukraine continue at a high level to this day. This step, taken to enhance energy resilience ahead of the heating season, holds significant diplomatic and humanitarian value. With this latest assistance, the total value of Azerbaijan’s humanitarian and reconstruction support to Ukraine has now exceeded $50 million.
Recall, in August, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister made his first visit to Ukraine since the war. The minister paid a working visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Ukrainian counterpart. The meeting participants discussed bilateral relations, as well as the international and regional security situation.
