The night of August 24th proved extremely turbulent for the Russian home front. Drones attacked targets in several regions of the Russian Federation. Three major Ozon logistics centers were hit, reports are coming in of an attack on the Millerovo military airfield, and in Nevinnomyssk, eyewitnesses captured video of a massive fire near the Azot chemical plant. One of the last reports of the night was information about a strike on Dagestan. A huge plume of black smoke rose near the village of Tyube after the attack. Photos and videos of the fire quickly appeared on Russian social media. Local residents reported explosions.
It is here, on the territory of the Tyube industrial park in the Kumtorkalinsky district, that Ozon's large logistics complex is located. The first phase of the facility occupies approximately 55,000 square meters. The complex is capable of processing up to 180,000 orders per day and simultaneously storing approximately 10 million items. When fully operational, the logistics center's area is expected to increase to 125,000 square meters, and its capacity to handle up to 30 million items. Footage from the scene shows a massive fire and a huge plume of smoke that stretches for many kilometers.
Dagestan became the third region overnight to report an attack on Ozon's infrastructure. Previously, a fire was reported at a major company facility in the Krasnodar region. The logistics center covers approximately 70,000 square meters. Another Ozon facility in Adygea has come under attack. This is a logistics complex covering approximately 90,000 square meters. Thus, in one night, attacks affected three major company facilities at once – in the Krasnodar region, Adygea, and Dagestan.
But this night for Russia was not limited to Ozon warehouses alone. Explosions rocked the Millerovo district of the Rostov region. Russian social media groups are reporting a drone attack on the Millerovo military airfield.
This airfield is used by Russian military aircraft and has already been the target of attacks. Following the explosions, local residents reported a fire. The exact location of the damage and the severity of the impact are currently being determined.
Another powerful fire occurred in Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Krai. Eyewitnesses are sharing footage of a huge glow and plume of smoke. They say the fire can be seen from tens of kilometers away. Russian media outlets report a drone attack on an industrial zone. According to preliminary information, the Nevinnomyssk Azot enterprise may have been the target. Nevinnomyssk Azot is one of the largest chemical plants in southern Russia. It produces ammonia, urea, ammonium nitrate, methanol, and other chemical products. There is no official information yet about the extent of the damage.
As a result, in just a few hours, reports of explosions, attacks, and fires came from the Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, Dagestan, Rostov Oblast, and Stavropol Krai. The series of attacks on Ozon was particularly noteworthy: three of the company's major logistics facilities were hit overnight. And these are not the first such cases.
