Soldiers from the 71st Airborne Assault Brigade captured a Russian occupier in the Sumy region, who had crossed 28 kilometers through a gas pipeline into Ukrainian territory. A video of the captive's story was published by the brigade's press service.
According to the Russian, he was previously convicted of murder and theft, and he signed a contract with the Russian army in prison.
The captor added that he was promised 2.5 million rubles for this, but received only 800,000, after which the recruiter disappeared. To reach the designated area undetected, a group of Russian occupiers was sent through a 28-kilometer-long gas pipeline with a diameter of approximately 1.4 meters. He noted that the journey through the pipe took two days, and due to his height of 1.89 meters, he covered most of the distance in a bent position.
After exiting the pipe, the occupiers waited for orders for about two weeks. According to the prisoner, command told them there were no Ukrainian defenders in the forest, and the group was only required to occupy a designated area.
However, as they were moving, the hijackers heard the command "Halt" and warning shots from Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. They then laid down their arms.
The occupier said that before being sent to the front, Russian propaganda assured him that Russia was fighting not with Ukraine, but with the United States. "They told us we'd just go into the forest and sit out six months... They said there was a war going on with the Americans. But when I got here, I saw it all for myself. The TV is lying; the war is being waged against the Ukrainians," he emphasized.
The Russian added that he was also threatened with torture in Ukrainian captivity. However, after he surrendered, Ukrainian soldiers gave him water, food, and cigarettes.
"In Russia, they treated us like dogs, they chased us from behind with mortars. But here they gave us water, a cigarette, and white bread, which I hadn't seen for two months," the occupier said.
As reported, earlier, the Special Operations Forces liberated Andreevka-Klevtsovo and captured 30 of the invaders. It is known that the occupiers had been attempting to capture this town in the Donetsk region for a long time. To this end, the enemy used small infantry groups, which gradually penetrated the town and took up positions.
It was also reported that a captured occupier from Tuva begged not to be returned to Russia. He said that after escaping from the front, he was imprisoned, where he was again forced to sign a contract with the Russian army. He also said he did not consider himself Russian.
