I have never been more confident...

I have never been more confident in the direction of the Vancouver Canucks as General Manager
Ryan Johnson spoke to the media revealing key details around this team, the direction they're
heading in, exactly what the Canucks plan on doing with their cap space. Moving further in,
plus a big update on Phil Petal as the Centerman's future was in question, we get a clear answer on
exactly how he's progressing. There's so much to break down in this video from Ryan Johnson,
the comments, and everything in between on why fans should be fired up. We're going to break
down all this and so much more in this episode. Before we get into it, I want to give a huge
shout out to absolutely everyone watching. We're so close to our goal of 10,000 subscribers,
so if you guys are enjoying the content or at least want to make me smile a little bit,
go down and hit that pretty subscribe button. I'll keep you up to date on everything to do
around the Canucks, and there's so much news coming out too. You're not going to want to miss
it, but let's just dive straight into it today. Now, this whole article will be linked down in
the description. Ryan Johnson spoke highly and about this team quite a bit. Patience and being
aligned is an absolute for us. If we veer from that, we'll get into trouble and we'll go into
face challenges. You have a good couple of weeks and win games, and I've already maintained that
you can't be fazed by success or bumps. It has to be the long game and making important decisions.
Now, it feels like an eternity ago that the Vancouver Canucks finally used the word
rebuilt. But with Ryan Johnson and the Sedins taking over, it feels like the Sedins are
legitimately the buffers between ownership and Ryan Johnson. And Ryan Johnson, at the very worst,
is saying exactly what fans want to hear, because he is going in to speak on how short-term success
is not going to derail them on how they continue to build this team for the future. Now, of course,
with the Canucks looking at the lineup, a lot of young guys joining. When you pair together on
the veterans moves and everything else, this is a Canucks team that's most certainly going to
finish bottom five again. But this is one of the first times that we're excited for this.
A team looking to finally get a first overall pick, a team looking to continue adding young
talent and more to this organization. Ryan Johnson spoke highly of the direction of this team,
and honestly, just going and looking at some of the previous drafts, I spoke so much about
key guys like Kayla Malhotra, Adam Novotny, Brooks Rogowski, and many others from this draft.
But I mean, even going farther back, Riley Patterson, someone that was highly touted in the
OHL this past season, getting some great nods from multiple people. Anthony Normani, another video
coming out. If you haven't seen it yet, go check it, where he's looking like a legitimate hidden
gem. And I mean, diving into another draft, where you added Brayden Coutts, Alexey Medvedev, a
but even going to Wilson Bjork, Gabriel Chirot, Kieran Durbin. There's so many great names just
from the past three drafts, and that was prior to the Canucks fully going into a season with the
mindset of, hey, we're going to rebuild, so it's just going to continue adding. Now, going farther
into Ryan Johnson and his comments, he spoke even farther on the team. The message has been excited
and will be some hard decisions along the way, but that's what's going to make it in title,
and we know that. Ryan Johnson did speak even more. I can assure you that we've had no mandate
about money or to shed salaries. They're important there, and they brought me in with a vision for
what's right in the short and long term. And there's an understanding to give us yourself
flexibility. You can't sit at the floor of the salary cap to think about shedding. It's completely
fabricated. Now, of course, there's been some rumors floating around that ownership, and I'm
want to shed salaries, get to the floor, spend less money on this team, and profit more. But
looking to the Canucks and the next couple of seasons, especially with the team going into a
rebuild, you can weaponize this cap space so well. Now, of course, you need a sign, guys. You
bought an extension soon, but $17 million heading into the season, 50 the year after, 75 up to 84.
This is a rising capital, and the Canucks can legitimately go out and weaponize some of this.
Get the extra draft capital for not having to do anything but pick up the phone and say,
yep, we'll burn it with this trade. We'll retain 50%, reroute them, tell them not even to come
to Vancouver, and you get draft capital for things like this. Now, looking at the Canucks
with the cap space, of course, Brennan Gallagher, Phil Petal, Drew O'Connor,
Paul O'Connor are all interesting names of veterans that might be enough flipped or
re-signed. Looking at the young guys, Jonathan Lackermackie, Liam Olgren, Atu Ratu,
all looking at contracts. So the Canucks, of course, still need to spend some money.
Looking at the back end as well, you have a lot of UFAs. When you're looking at this,
you're, boy, I'm just looking at extension with a lot of the contracts going around.
It's a little concerning that maybe this guy is getting 10 plus million dollars on his next deal.
DPD is another name. Luke Shin, if he returns as well. Tom Villander in two years from now
but the biggest thing is the Canucks have young talent at every single position. Of course,
you need to pay these guys, but it's the perfect time to take on some bad contracts. Once again,
fill out those draft picks. 17 million dollars is so much money for them to just really go out and
say, hey, we'll take on a bad two year deal. Give us a first round pick. Then you go into the draft
with two first round picks. You're already hoarding some draft capital. Of course, you're not
or a team like Calgary yet, but those are teams that were adding draft picks for the past couple
years and not spending them like the Canucks have been, but hey, we have the direction now and
that's one of the positives. Now, there was an update on Filipito and a big question mark around
the Canucks to line up everything in between. Ryan Johnson said he made some adjustments and
is kicking and screaming to get going. He's been skating, competing in contact and feels good.
Of course, it's always different coming into training camp. Now, Filipito played 12 games for
the Canucks just last season, going down with an injury after scoring three goals and the never
ending story of Filipito and not being able to stay healthy. First and foremost, whatever helps
him in the future when it comes to injuries. If this is retiring from hockey, I've seen so many
people talk in the comments, but again, Filipito is a guy that worked his butt off for lack of
this position. Retiring from hockey is not an easy thing, but at the end of the day,
this is a human being that has dealt with quite a few injuries, concussions, everything in between.
I do hope Filipito comes back, plays an 84 game season. I keep forgetting that it's 84 games now
and shows everyone wrong, but it's going to be interesting on this because of course,
going into training camp is going to be completely different. Ryan Johnson knows
what it's like to go into training camp. Maybe these guys are banged up going on long playoff
runs coming off injuries, but with Filipito, it's going to be interesting in the sense of
if he's back in the lineup, you're now looking at maybe a bit of a long jam down the middle.
Is Filipito going to fill in as a winger on this team? Where does Occirotto fit in? Because he's
going to be in this lineup day one. He's going to be in here all year. He was loved by many in
the AHL, but it's not here to put him in the doghouse for absolutely no reason. But fans,
what is your thoughts on all this? What is your thoughts on the comments from Ryan Johnson
that there's no speed running this? This is going to take time. It's going to be a process.
It's going to be a bad couple of years, but at the end of the day, there's an end goal.
This is a team that wants to get back into the competitive mindset. Once they get out of this
rebuild, hey, the contracts lined up with Salvini going out as a UFA and of course,
Conor Bredard. So hey, maybe both those guys join the team in the future. What is your thoughts
on Filipito and the Canucks plans with him? Where do you think he plays in the opening night roster?
What do you think happens with this Canucks team? Let me know your thoughts on everything
down in the comments, because I love reading through them. While you're down there,
