I can't believe what I am seeing...
Oct 18, 2026
We have all been waiting for this after Dylan Harper puts
on an absolute show in yesterday's
game and we get the confirmation
for the Spurs starting five against the OKC Thunder coming up
on October 20th. We're going to dive even
a little bit deeper into what is about to make
the start of this Spurs season so special.
We're going to dive into Dylan Harper. We're going to
talk about some six man. We're going to talk about
a whole lot of great stuff on and off stats and
why the Spurs are ready to make some serious noise right
from the get-go but specifically
Dylan Harper I mean if you think Dylan Harper has
a chance to win some kind of award all-star maybe
leave a like on this video
because I think like I don't know am I being too crazy being that high
on Dylan Harper already this game
was unbelievable we talked yesterday in the pre-game stream thank
you to all of you who showed up by the way we're going
to be doing a lot more of those this season
make sure you tune in every day
but he started right he was starting in this game and it's
something that the Spurs are going to continue
to do now this is not breaking news at this point
You guys probably know this, but still,
Mitch Johnson intends to have Dylan Harper in San
Antonio's starting lineup for Tuesday's season opener.
De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper,
Devin Vassell, Victor Wembanyama.
This is going to be one of the best,
most exciting starting groups in the NBA.
My only question is,
are you guys a little bit concerned about the bench depth if this
is the case?
Because we've talked a bit about the starting lineup and,
you know, we have the starting
five that changes day by day I mean this is the one
for now Tobias Harris of course is injured
but Fox Harper Castle Vassell Wemby you wonder
if Harris could start if he wasn't injured I don't
know um you know with Harris out
though you you kind of have a bit of a weaker bench we'll get
rid of the chat thing here it was live streaming
yesterday you guys know how it is you guys got to
tune into the live stream Fox there with Harper
and Gillespie's on a two-way and so is David
Jones Garcia so it's really just Jordan McLaughlin
as the only guard off the bench then you have guys
like Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Carter Brian
Harrison Barnes, Luke Cornett, Terrace Reed you
can fill the three through five without any problem
and i think guys like a guy like Champagnie
could play the two if necessary
but that is the one concern i think for me it is kind of the bench
even though hey you know we know what the starting lineup
is going to be it's like Dylan Harper off
the bench has a nice air to it
but hey i don't totally mind it you know still he also is still
the favorite to win sixth man of the full voting
on ClutchPoints Dylan Harper got 40 percent of the vote
for sixth man of the year and that might not even
be the case anymore so what do you guys think
about this bench situation because I think there there
is a little bit of talking to do but I think
once Harris is back won't be as big a problem
a lot of you yesterday were suggesting to just
convert Jacoby Gillespie to a standard contract
and then our backup guard situation's kind of
solved that the Spurs are going to need a lot
of contribution from their starters for sure but
also from the bench if they want
to win 55 plus games $25 nets you 34 on Kalshi this video is

for sponsoring this video like i said though the
bench is kind of a bit questionable
but still the best guards in the NBA easily the best guard
rotation in the NBA Dylan Harper said the biggest thing
is that we both think him and Castle were
the best guards in the NBA plus Fox the relationships kind
in the beginning came from that competitive
mindset and it grew off
the court we could talk about anything literally so I mean it's a great
relationship to have it really is having
that relationship being competitive with your fellow
guards is great and I think they're feeling
the same as this Wemby quote I keep bringing up
just as confident as last year nobody got worse it's very clear
that Dylan Harper got better we
take a look at the end of last year right 2025-26 regular season
the first 64 games 11.7 points a
game the last five up to 12.8 the assists stayed about the same
but we also saw what he managed to
do in the playoffs also another little factor
that we do have to discuss Dylan Harper with versus
without Fox when he actually shared the court
with Fox his stats went down pretty much across
the board fewer assists fewer rebounds lower
three-point percentage fewer points per i think
is that points per 100 points for 75 maybe still
the usage rate went down i think we're going to
have a lot of a bit of a learning curve what
with these guys sharing the floor together and we saw
that a bit versus the suns less so in last game
but i still think there's a lot left to be explored
here and that's fun and that's what we're going
to get to do early this season but even with all
this he managed to score 14 straight
in yesterday's game dylan harper like i know this is sort of this
should be a video on all three of them right
and and how the Spurs are ready to do something
incredible but like it really is just turning
into a Dylan Harper fest 14 straight Spurs points in
the third quarter he scored 19 points on 7
for 12 shooting 3 for 6 from 3 9 of his points came
from corner threes so let's take a look at how he scored these buckets
because they were pretty
great take a look at this wonderful new graphic
if you guys like this I think we've earned a like
on the video here's how he scored you can see some misses there
from the top but made that corner
three made the next corner three made another
corner three he had three finishes inside three
threes two free throws it's what we wanted man
and Mitch Johnson was even talking about how Dylan
Harper's three-point shooting ended up developing
throughout last year it got better and better and
better and I'll just toss up the box score
for yesterday's game in case you didn't see it he led
the team in scoring four assists he didn't even have
a rebound the thing is he's going to be a
rebounding machine actually tied for the team lead in rebounds
who else but Terrace Reed and then
Carter Bryant who didn't have the great shooting night
but neither did Julian Champagny I'm sure
those guys will be back in good form
for the season you know who did have a decent shooting
night Jacoby Gillespie who was three for four
from three anyway just gonna mention it but there was a
whole lot of great stuff in that game I mean I
could go through the highlights I'm not gonna
bother I think focusing on Dylan Harper is very important um but but we
also got to focus on some
of the other guards who's going to play
with and that's De'Aaron Fox mainly 16.6 boards three
assists he was efficient too
and i've loved what i've seen from him in this preseason i don't y'all
have seen it too right like he's clearly more explosive
and i don't think that's a surprise
necessarily i think we knew he had
that high ankle sprain we knew in the playoffs that he was not
himself fox himself has talked about
this at long last he's like i i was hurt i you know i had i
high ankle sprain i'm a guy who works on athleticism there
was a recent clip of him watching his old
well that one dunk from this preseason
but some old dunks from when he was young on the kings when
he was one of my favorite players in the nba it did fall off
a little bit as athleticism started
to go but now with the spurs i love him again two
foot windmills it's crazy and he said i can still
do all that he's like i can still
do an east bay 360 windmill you name it i'm excited to see what
he's going to be able to do because he's
been really really really good like i can't lie and
top that all off with Wemby like i didn't even
talk about Wemby here today Victor Wembanyama
Victor Wembanyama there we go there that's
that's better Victor Wembanyama he he bit on a pump fake
in the paint and still blocked the shot
when he was flat-footed and then it led into a euro step
to get around Ben Simmons at the three-point line
into a lob off the backboard to himself for a
dunk if you said that to a basketball fan 30
years ago I don't know what they would do they'd
probably be like what are you talking about
that doesn't even make sense it probably wouldn't be
some crazy reaction like well they burned you
at the stake no they wouldn't do that that was way
longer ago the witches wouldn't even know what
you're talking about if you said that to his
witch during the Salem witch trials they'd
be like no you know what you probably would get
burned because they they'd think I don't know you're speaking
in tongues what am I even talking
about look let's get back to it um this whole team has
been just I don't know everything is
rolling so so so well and we got to look ahead
to the schedule now next game straight up is
Tuesday versus Oklahoma City 8:30 p.m. Central
so excited you got Tuesday Friday Saturday then
Tuesday Wednesday Saturday and then Monday
so like I don't know three games a week I'm so ready
for this home opener also against the OKC Thunder
which I'm so excited about and I want to ask you
guys a question too who was the real story versus
the Kings in your mind because I just want you to
leave this down below because
to me it's very clearly Harper I think some might say like there
might be some Fox fans again that that spur
that Fox versus Kings kind of narrative and when the
objectively had the most insane highlights
in the game Fox had the biggest emotional story Dylan
Harper was clearly the best player heading into this year
so leave your thoughts on all that down
below i want to read a couple comments from you guys
though before we move on and end this video
off because we do read a lot of your comments appreciate all
of you, Sim Plakazu says if Castle
can gut down his fouls his turnovers
and shoot three to four percent better from three he would
be undisputed number two on the team until
then it's Harper easily, oh you're picking Harper even
over Fox and I kind of love that, now this is from 10 days ago
and I think we are starting to see
some stuff like Harper is looking good, Fox
is still looking good and I think with the three
guard lineup it's going to lead to fewer turnovers for Castle
because he's not going to be asked to
have the ball in his hands as much not going
to be asked to create as much, he had a huge playmaking
load last year and I think this year we're going
to see him start to balance that out a little bit
so great comment there and I love this one too
from John I think Wemby Fox and Castle and Harper
will share moments as being the closer this season
or starters, this is from 12 days ago, they all have to
learn how to share it and own it when they call for it
and guess what, it is true, but like now
they're starting together, so you mentioned a point
that I brought up in the video and that's that
there still is a lot of uncertainty, I think with how
these guys will work together throughout the
whole year there's going to be some some roadblocks
and some speed bumps, some you know little things
that are gonna, okay wait, maybe is this gonna work
as well as we thought, I think at the end of the
day though getting the reps early is what matters
and I'm excited for it, leave your thoughts on
everything down below, that'll do it for this episode
though, thank you so much for tuning in
every single day, I've been your host Josh Goss
and I will catch you all in the next one
