The Ultimate Wera EDC Tool Kit — 120 Day Check-In
It’s time for the 120 DAY CHECK-IN on my Ultimate Wera EDC Tool Kit!
This kit has continued to evolve since the original build and the 90-day update, and at this point I’ve packed an incredible amount of capability into one compact Maxpedition pouch. More importantly, every tool has a purpose. This isn’t about cramming random tools into a bag—it’s about building a compact, modular system where the different components work together.
At the heart of the kit is the Wera Tool-Check PLUS, giving me a mini ratchet, sockets, bits and adapters in an extremely compact package. I’ve expanded that system with additional SAE and metric socket capability, multiple bit holders and the Wera 813 handle, allowing the same 1/4” components to be configured in several different ways depending on the job.
For gripping and turning, I’m carrying both Knipex Cobra water-pump pliers and a Knipex Pliers Wrench. That gives me aggressive gripping capability when I need it while also providing a smooth-jaw option for nuts, bolts and finished surfaces that I don’t want to damage.
The kit also includes a full-size hex-key set, precision screwdriver and precision bits, dedicated Torx driver, compact knife, permanent marker and notepad.
One of my favorite details is actually on the OUTSIDE of the pouch. My Ledlenser flashlight rides on the zipper using a KeySmart magnetic quick-disconnect. That keeps the flashlight immediately accessible without opening the kit, and it prevents the other tools inside the pouch from accidentally activating it.
After 120 days of tweaking this setup, everything has a reason for being where it is. The goal has always been maximum capability, modularity and accessibility without turning an EDC tool kit into a full-size toolbox.
