Early Fall Kitchen Decor Ideas | Summer to Fall Transition | Decorate with Me

Hi sweet friends, it's Amy and welcome back. Today we're giving my kitchen a little refresh as we transition from summer to early fall. So why don't you grab a warm drink, get cozy, and let's decorate the space together. I hope you enjoy. Today turned out to be the perfect rainy day to spend at home and I can't think of a better time to transition the kitchen from summer into early fall. I've cleared the counters and given everything a good cleaning. I always like to start with a fresh slate. For this time of year, I love layering in warm neutrals like creams and browns, olive greens, and just a teeny touch of mustard yellow. It's an easy way to add a little warmth while still holding on to those late summer days. I'm starting here on the kitchen island. I've added a white vase with some muted green stems. To ground the second item in this three item vignette, I'm adding a vintage cream doily to separate the wooden cake stand from our countertop. I'll also be adding some delicious banana nut muffins that will be a yummy treat for later. To finish off this vignette, I'll add the small glass candy dish. I love mixing materials like wood, ceramic, and glass because it gives the display more interest and helps it feel collected over time. I'll be filling it with some Werther's Originals, which have become one of our favorite candies to enjoy during the fall season. As we transition into the cooler months, I always like to bring in different layers of lighting throughout our home. A small lamp on the kitchen counters instantly adds warmth and makes the space feel so much cozier. I also love using these under cabinet lights. They've been one of my favorite finds from Amazon because they're operated with a remote, charge quickly with a USB cable, and give the kitchen the prettiest soft glow. You might recognize many of the pieces I'm decorating with today from other rooms in our home. Especially during this time, I like to start with using what I already own. Rearranging a few favorite pieces is such an easy way to give your home a fresh new look without spending a dime. Recently, I've gotten some questions about this kitchen rail. It's simply a towel bar installed upside down that I added S hooks to display fun kitchen finds. I love showcasing vintage pieces, seasonal hot pads or tea towels, wall baskets with florals, or other small kitchen accessories. It's such an easy way to add a little personality and interest to our backsplash. One thing I like to keep in mind when decorating my countertops is spacing. Most of my vignettes fall beneath an outlet, which naturally helps break up the counter and helps everything feel balanced and less cluttered. For this vignette, I'm adding this decorative glass box to hold a few of our favorite family recipes. I love incorporating pieces that are not only beautiful, but also meaningful. And to finish everything off, I'm layering in these woven boxes for a little extra texture and to tie in that olive green throughout the kitchen. Then I placed a little oil lamp, which is very meaningful to me. It was a gift from my daddy that I placed on top of a small wreath that I snipped in two so that it would sit balanced on the countertop. Before moving to our breakfast nook, I looked out our patio door and spotted these two sweet doves perched on our deck railing. I couldn't resist sharing this little moment with you. How absolutely precious moments like these always makes me slow down and smile. As I stepped back, I felt like the lamp was just a little undersized for the space. So instead of replacing it, I decided to get a little creative. I placed a few sprigs or stem from a garland tucked inside a round riser. I'll place the lamp right in the center, allowing the greenery to spill over. And that just creates a little interest and uniqueness and also makes the lamp look a little bit more substantial. For the table, I wanted to keep it super simple and warm with layers of natural textures and earthy tones. Sometimes it's the little details that make a space feel inviting. As we begin to wrap up, I hope today's video reminds you that decorating doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes using what you already have or moving a few favorite pieces from other areas of your home is all it might take to make your home feel new and cozy again as we transition between the seasons. For me, this time of the year, I'm always ready to start decorating for fall. But this little transition lets me enjoy those cozy touches while still holding on to the beauty of late summer.
