I believe was 15 million. So, you know, but Celebrity is obviously tears above bedard in my mind So it only makes sense for her to bump him up a couple million dollars and take that 17.5 or 17 point nine five a million dollar a year deal and you know, it is what it is You know, we can deal with that. I mean looking, you know at the cap situation next year We are going in to the the offseason right now at 52 million dollars in available cap space so if you take that 17 million dollars a year from celebrity off this cap hit then that will be Just over 30 million dollars in cap space left for signing guys like Will Smith What you're going to talk about in just a bit and ask her off and all these guys that are going to have To be paid in the years down the line so him taking a team-friendly deal Which yeah 17 million dollars is a lot and probably doesn't seem like it But in today's market is very team-friendly from where a player who could probably go out and get 20 million dollars You know in the open market, which obviously you can't where he's an RFA, but you know what? I mean, and it's very interesting, you know, obviously Macrocelebrity breaking the franchise record having an unbelievable year Olympic medalist It's just an unbelievable player an unbelievable kid the future captain of our team and a leader of our franchise so for him going out and setting the press the precedent of You know saying hey, I'm taking a deal. That's gonna be friendly for the team It's going to speak to the guys in the locker room to kind of say hey, you know Our star guy is doing this for us We need to start doing things for him and it's just going to trickle down all the way through This roster in terms of negotiations in terms of the play on the ice And you know that would be just such a huge captain move to do by going out and taking this Cut which I mean he basically alluded to in that interview last week and now the the hockey news with this great Projection at around 17 million for macrocelebrity and when you take a look at some comparable contracts here You know obviously Crosby taking that 8.7 million dollar deal. I was team-friendly at the time you know adjusted to today's market, you know was 15.3 percent the cat back then and then obviously a McKinnon took that deal was just a hundred thousand dollars over over the top Signed player at that point and then McDavid taking that huge cut last year at twelve point five million dollars You know You just see all these stars across the league Taking these cuts in pay to try to win Stanley Cups and while we see worked out for McKinnon and worked out for Crosby and hasn't worked out for McDavid yet But you know it just seems like that is the You know the way to go if you are a young star on this league if you want to win if you're not in it For the money to help your team out a little bit when it comes to the cap space and I do want to talk about Will Smith because he's another big one that's gonna come up in the same year as celebrating right now Projections have him at a six-year deal at nine point six to five million and obviously in contract years players Just tend to play better. So I think celebrating is gonna be playing better this year I think Will Smith's gonna be playing better this year Hopefully we get a full healthy season out of him this year So we can really see I him flourish on this top line with celebrating insurance off I think this is a fair number for Will Smith I think having him just under that ten million dollar number is perfect and locking him up for six Maybe even seven years you see, you know, we'll just be just over that and like a nine point nine number I mean, I like that for Will Smith. I think he's definitely worth it He's a player who's gonna grow a lot in these young years and become a great player Especially playing with the best player in the league in Macklin Celebrity I definitely think Celebrity is gonna have a crazy season next year And I definitely think he's gonna make a run at the hurt in my opinion I mean he was at it this year didn't quite, you know reach that threshold But now with more weapons around him is definitely gonna be able to do that And now Will Smith is obviously, you know has that experience now He was playing great last year and being on that top line But celebrating is really going to help his development and obviously his point scoring as well So I like that contract number for Will Smith. I like the contract number for Macklin celebrating It really only makes sense to why you know, they would make these deals obviously like we just bring the cap back Oh, but I just want to talk about that because you know, like I said, it's 52 million dollars So if you sign celebrating at that 17 million dollars, you're gonna be just over 30 million dollars in available cap space Then you sign Will Smith for saying let's say 9.5 You're down in the mid 20s now even high 20 range For when you're with available cap and you still have guys like Askrof who probably isn't going to be that costly Maybe a 5 million dollar number depending on how he plays this season So, you know, you still have a lot of room to work with in this scenario So I wouldn't be worried if I'm you know, if I'm you guys about our cap situation next year It's all gonna work itself out Macklin celebrating is really gonna help this team out and not just on the ice but off the ice with his with his contract Negotiations as well.
