Last week regular season schedules were announced and with it home opener opponents and the sharks are set off to open the season against the Florida Panthers which is a great opportunity for certain players on this team. Let's start with Jacob Truba. Jacob Truba specifically is known to bully the bullies and for him especially this is a great opportunity for him. The Florida Panthers are known bullies. They are a pretty dirty team to be honest. They don't play the cleanest hockey. I really don't enjoy watching them play for that reason but that's who we are opening our home opener with and again great opportunity for someone like Jacob Truba. Truba is a big guy, 32 years old, 6'3", 212 pounds. The right-handed defenseman again bullies the bullies. He is not afraid to use his body. That is one thing that coming at you. You will get destroyed if you get in the path of that train and I can't wait to see him destroy some Florida Panthers because they're only going to be worse than they were considering they added a certain knucklehead to their team when they already had the brother of said knucklehead so now they doubled that and I can't wait for Jacob Truba to absolutely destroy those guys. I need it. We all need it. I think most of the league is probably cheering for Truba to destroy them and I think he's going to pull through. I think that's what he does best so let's see him do it. I can't wait for that and another guy I've been super critical of him of course and for good reason but this is a perfect opportunity for him to show me hey this is why I'm on the team. This is why we traded Shakir Mukumadoulin and Zach Sharp for me and of course I am talking about Darnell Nurse another big guy 31 years old 6'4 and 215 pounds left-handed defenseman so theoretically we could actually start the game with both Truba and Nurse out on the ice on that defensive pair together. I actually wouldn't be too surprised although they might want to spread the wealth a little bit especially because not all of our defensemen are wrecking balls although Eric Polkamp definitely is. So they might not want to start them on that first line together but I can very much see that first puck drop having Nurse and Truba on that same defensive pair because they are two big guys again bully the bullies and the Sharks are for the most part a pretty finesse team. We are building a lot of bulk especially with Truba and Nurse and the menace that is Mason Marchment. We're building that bulk which is so important for protecting our more finesse players and our young guys and again perfect opportunity against the Florida Panthers to show the bulk that we've added. We're not going to let them push us around like they've pushed us around in the past. Again I think a lot of the NHL and their fans are hoping that guys like Nurse and Truba wail on the Panthers and this is just setting them up for success honestly. Could not ask for a better opponent in the home opener to show why we made the moves that we made because again we are a more finesse team. We have some really skilled players but this offseason has really focused on adding that bulk and Truba and Nurse especially are two guys who add a lot of bulk to this roster especially on that blue line where it's been very very weak. Some size can really really help and another person that is so helped by this bulk and size is Sam Dickinson. Sam Dickinson struggled a last season. I really need to see him do better this season but again unfair situation for him. He struggled. He couldn't be sent down to the AHL and we didn't want to send him down to juniors because that wasn't going to help his development at all and he really wasn't getting that great of support. He was really great with Desjardins but Desjardins is gone so now he's going to have to lean on guys like Nurse and Truba for help and especially Truba. Truba is a known leader. He was the captain of the Rangers. He is so well liked throughout the league. Just the type of person he is. I think he is fantastic for Sam especially because Sam is a left-handed defenseman. Truba is right-handed so there you go. Great pairing right there. I think Truba can really help Sam develop the way that he needs to develop and kind of give him some more confidence and another person who gave him a lot of confidence indirectly is Luka Kagnoni. I am so excited for little Thumbelina. I love Luka Kagnoni the little 5'9", 180 pound left-handed 21 year old defenseman. He is so much fun. We only got to see him in three games last season but he had 18 minutes on ice in those three games average and he was so confident that whole time. One thing Luka Kagnoni does exceptionally well is crash the net and he is so confident when he does that. He is not afraid to just go full force towards the net. He doesn't care if he scores. He knows some kind of offensive play is going to be built off of this rush towards the net and that confidence goes a long way and of course we were seeing it in Sam Dickinson when Dickinson was seeing Kagnoni rush the net and just carry the puck deep into the offensive zone behind the net even just how confident he was. It rubbed off on Sam. He was kind of sitting there like wait we can do that? It was almost like he forgot that defensemen can contribute offensively although we do need to protect our goalies as one thing that we really need to do more but I want to see more confidence in Sam when it comes to crashing the net because that is something Kagnoni does really well and it was really starting to rub off on him and now that we are officially free from the clutches of John Klingberg there is an open spot on that power play and I think that is the perfect spot for Luka Kagnoni. We got to see him on the power play a little bit in those three games and he belongs there and if he doesn't belong there Sam Dickinson does because that few opportunity that we saw him on that power play he actually looked pretty good and of course again confidence from Kagnoni really goes a long way especially in a power play situation and we have Ivar Stenberg, Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith most likely on that top power play unit that's gonna be an unstoppable power play especially with a guy like Luka Kagnoni quarterbacking it he can really take this team to the next level especially on the power play again his confidence goes a long way he doesn't play like a guy who's 5'9". The only people who talk about his height are his doubters it has absolutely nothing to do with him as a player or his character he has such strong character he is such a fun player to watch he doesn't care that he's 5'9 and neither should you he is so confident and that confidence is going to do a lot for this team on the power play and a guy like Sam Dickinson and of course again the bulk of Jacob Truba and Darnell Nurse are going to be incredibly helpful against an opponent like the Florida Panthers in that home opener the home opener it's not always indicative of how the whole season plays out but it does very much set a tone for at least the first few months of it and I think Nurse and Truba are going to go to great lengths to set that tone to show the rest of the league you can't walk all over us like you used to we are here to protect this team and you're not going to get away with anything I'm excited it's going to be a really fun season and a really fun home opener and again I'm so excited for Luca Cagnoni he is just such a fun player now let's wrap up with a prize pick again soccer's over but tennis is still going on and I never claimed to know anything about soccer but I know even less about tennis but prize fix is saying Osean Ocean Ocean Don Don Don sorry I might have butchered that but they are saying that you should probably take the more of her getting more than two and a half break points one she's been kind of up and down lately but the last match that she had she had five so maybe she could do it I sure hope so again never claim to know anything about this sport but download using the link below and enter the code digest when you sign up and it is Tuesday and the tacos are going nowhere our board is serving up discounted projections on Tuesdays all day long so get in on the action download using blow enter the code digest when you sign up I am so glad to be back I missed you guys I miss talking hockey with you guys there's so much to talk about I don't want to talk about a Macklin Celebrini contract until I've gotten the chance to speak with him about it personally getting that organized but drop a comment below let's chat miss you guys go sharks
