The Russian Su-35 pilot who was defeated in an air battle with Ukrainian F-16s over Ukrainian territory this week may have been framed by a fake map from the Russian Ministry of Defense. Analysts at the Ukraine Control Map project noted that the Su-35 crashed just 42 kilometers from the front line and suggested that the occupying pilot may have been relying on official Russian military maps, which do not reflect the actual position of the troops.
As is well known, the Russian Ministry of Defense regularly displays territories on its maps as already captured, while in fact they remain under the control of the Ukrainian army.
"The crash site of the Russian Su-35 is 42 kilometers from the front line. They likely thought they were further from the front line, using Russian maps, and once again fell for the bait of their own Ministry of Defense," analysts note.
Recently, the Ukrainian Air Force announced the destruction of a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the eastern direction. Russian Z-channels also reported the loss of the aircraft. According to them, the pilot managed to eject and was evacuated. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense continues to remain silent about the loss of the aircraft, making no comment. A Russian Su-35 fighter jet was ambushed and shot down, Alexey Getman, a retired major and veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, announced on Radio NV .

At the same time, he did not rule out that a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system was used to shoot down the fighter.

"This isn't the first time; it's happened before. We shot down A-50 long-range radar reconnaissance aircraft with precisely these types of SAMs from an ambush," Getman noted.

According to him, the Patriot's target engagement range exceeds 100 km, while other air defense systems have a shorter range, so they would have to be deployed closer to the aircraft's flight path.

He explained that the ambush is organized in such a way that the air defense system and its launcher can be camouflaged and turned off, meaning they do not emit electromagnetic waves, making them extremely difficult to detect.

"And when it's activated, its location is immediately determined, but that could be too late. After all, it only takes seconds to 'capture' an aircraft, track it, and issue the command to launch a missile. The system activates in about 10 seconds. And when multiple missiles are launched at the aircraft, evasion is virtually impossible," Getman said. He also emphasized that the Su-35 is a "serious aircraft" and a good target.

"Judging by what we know about the transfer of certain weapons to us, in particular air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 200 km, we will soon be able to see more downed Russian aircraft," Getman said.

According to him, it is precisely these types of aircraft that drop KABs on the line of combat contact and on border or frontline settlements in Ukraine.

The Third Army Corps also posted a video on Facebook showing a Russian Su-35 fighter jet smoldering in its area of responsibility. They congratulated the Ukrainian Air Force Command on successfully shooting down the enemy Su-35.
