A captured Russian occupier unexpectedly declared that he considered Ukrainian retaliatory strikes on the Russian capital justified. His reaction was made public by fighters of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Koshevoy Ataman Ivan Sirko.

A Russian soldier from the Far East was captured by soldiers from the 3rd Assault Battalion. He was subsequently shown footage from Moscow, including videos of the aftermath of attacks and fires in the Russian capital.

In the released video, the prisoner did not express the outrage or surprise typically expected in such cases. On the contrary, he effectively acknowledged the strikes on Moscow as a response to the Russian military's actions.

"Well, it's burning, and it's burning. Well, what can I do? Well, Moscow is burning. I'm here, so that's how it should be," he said.

When asked whether he considered such strikes justified, the soldier answered in the affirmative:

"Well, compared to what we inflict, yes, I think it's fair. The answer is what we inflict. Same thing." After this he added briefly: “Well, let it burn.”

The 92nd Brigade noted that the occupier had effectively acknowledged the logic of the strikes in response to Russian aggression against Ukraine.

"And, perhaps, this is the only case when one can agree with the occupier," the military emphasized. Following the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow, residents of the Russian capital are shocked and appalled. For many Muscovites, the war against Ukraine long seemed distant, but now drones, oil refinery fires, and explosions are coming to their homes. Following the attack on the Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya, people are expressing confusion, writes BBC observer Steve Rosenberg, who lives in the Russian capital.
On condition of anonymity , he spoke with Muscovites who witnessed the explosions. "It took us four years to win World War II, despite our soldiers having little food or water. Today, we have all the necessary resources, but this war continues. I'm in shock," said local resident Nadezhda. Slava, who lives in an apartment building across from the oil refinery, said, "I didn't expect such a large-scale attack. I heard explosions and saw a lot of smoke. It's the kind of thing you usually see in movies. I saw it from my apartment window." Another woman, watching the smoke billow, described the new Moscow reality with almost resignation. "There's nothing we can do about it. It's up to our government to decide what to do. All we can do is watch," she said. Over the past year and a half, Muscovites have become accustomed to news of military killings in the capital and drone strikes. But the attack on the oil refinery revealed a different level: the war wasn't confined to television, but to apartment windows, the smell of burning, and the disruptions in the city. Footage of burning Moscow circulated on Russian social media and in international news agencies. Russia hadn't seen anything like it since World War II, when the Germans bombed Moscow.
