Husky Harness Fits & Recumbent Trike Bike Rides!
It’s another emotional but busy day with our Siberian Huskies, Kira and Eleanor. We are trying our best to stay active and keep the dogs distracted as we navigate life right now. Today, Jamie and I decided to pull out our recumbent trikes (Catrikes) to take the dogs for a run around the block. It has been a really long time since we used these bike attachments, and Eleanor was a little unsure at first, but with a little encouragement, she totally nailed it! Kira, on the other hand, gave us her famous dramatic harness fit and even tried to hide in the bathtub before we could get out the door.
We did two rounds of bike rides today to figure out the best setup for the dogs. After the first short run, we realized Kira wasn't loving the side D-ring hooks, so Jamie adjusted her harness connection to the center hook. What a difference that made! On our second loop, both Huskies did amazing, specially when they spotted two bunnies in the ditch and tried to pull us straight through the brakes! We also checked out our gorgeous heritage lilac bush that is finally blooming in the yard.
Back at the house, we cooked up some delicious steak and potatoes on the Blackstone grill and spent some quiet time relaxing. I am currently putting together a special memory box for Memphis, and we got the call from our vet that her ashes are ready to pick up tomorrow. It's a sad and heavy process, but we are taking things one day at a time. To end the night on a fun note, Kira got completely mesmerized watching cats on the television!
