Situé dans l’état indien du Rajasthan, Bikaner est une ville de 836,000 habitants qui produit traditionnellement des tapis et ou l’industrie de la céramique s'est largement développée. Le tourisme joue également une part importante dans son économie.

La ville est célèbre en raison du palais de Lalgarh construit par le maharaja Gangâ Singh. Des parties du palais ont été converties en hôtel et musée, ce dernier abritant une importante collection de photographies anciennes et de trophées. Lors de sa visite, vous découvrirez l’horrible « rite du sati » imposé aux femmes des maharajas.
