The successful actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in securing logistical routes in the south could significantly change the nature of the fighting, according to the DeepState monitoring project on Telegram.
Analysts note that the Defense Forces carried out two precise strikes on a road bridge near Chongar on the recently constructed so-called "R-280 Highway," which connects Rostov-on-Don with occupied Simferopol. This is, in particular, part of the crucial land corridor the occupiers sought to establish by launching a full-scale invasion.
"The disabling of the bridge, which has restricted traffic in the area, is an important component of the blockade and sets off a chain reaction of such a blockade," the statement said. Four routes used by invaders for military logistics from Crimea
The central route for the invaders is Chongar, which is under heavy fire from the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"However, the status of the nearby railway bridge remains unknown. The old road bridge is unusable, and the railway bridge near the Sivash station, the main railway artery in the area, has limited capacity due to previous missile damage," analysts note.
An alternative route is the Arabat Spit. This route is used by the occupiers in the area where a new road has been built. DeepState added:
"There are two bridges near the city of Henichesk, but they have also been hit by the Defense Forces and are under fire control of the Ukrainian military. The excessive logistical load causes significant damage to the bridge itself, which also plays a role in this process." Another alternative route is the Perekop Isthmus. The invaders are actively using it after Ukrainian defenders took fire control of the two aforementioned routes.
"Both roads and a railway pass through there. And it's worth examining this in more detail, as it's a crucial part of the blockade, serving as a trap for the enemy. Using this route increases the logistical reach by approximately 100 km, complicating intensive supply chains, increasing equipment wear and tear, and fuel consumption. And the most important advantage is the shorter range for the various weapons of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which can easily gain fire control of this part of the exit route from Crimea, making this area a kind of trap," the statement emphasizes.
Another route is the Kerch Strait, which serves as the "main gate" connecting occupied Crimea with Russia via the Kerch Bridge.
"However, there are constant threats of defeat and delays there too," the statement said.
This route allows the invaders to take something out or bring it to Crimea, but not to the front itself. According to analysts, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are also carrying out effective operations not only around Crimea. They have also secured enemy logistics along the Taganrog-Mariupol-Volnovakha highway. Azov fighters are working in this direction, determined to increase their capabilities and destroy anything moving in that area.
Thus, cutting off one of the shortest routes of the "land corridor" from Russia to the occupied territory of Ukraine significantly affects the logistical capabilities of the occupiers for the front in the south. "The expansion of such a blockade could lead to significant changes in the fighting in the south," the statement said.
However, there's no need to get too excited about the damage to the bridges, as they can be restored. They added
"However, the Defence Forces have demonstrated much more – the ability to control everything that moves through the southern part of the occupied territory, in particular from Crimea."
