This House Was Cut in Half… and It Made the Design Even Better | Trim House

Trim House, designed by KWK Promes led by Robert Konieczny in Vilnius, is a compact residence shaped by strict zoning constraints that forced the original design to be reduced in size. Instead of compromising the concept, the architects transformed the limitation into a defining feature, creating a sharply angled, “trimmed” form that efficiently organizes space while maintaining a strong architectural identity. Centered around a private courtyard that brings light deep into the interior, the house balances openness and privacy, with carefully layered spaces and a vertical arrangement that separates social and private functions. Ultimately, the project demonstrates how restriction can lead to clarity, turning reduction into a refined and intentional living environment.
