Inside a Stunning Industrial House Where Old Meets Modern

Peter’s House, designed by Studio David Thulstrup in Copenhagen, transforms an existing garage into a contemporary 500-square-meter home while preserving its original industrial character. Three existing brick walls are integrated into the design, while a central glass atrium brings natural light through all three levels and introduces greenery into the heart of the house. Raw concrete, blackened steel, terrazzo, and exposed brick are balanced with warm oak, textiles, and planted spaces, creating a layered contrast between industrial and natural elements. The house demonstrates how an old urban structure can be thoughtfully reimagined through light, material, and spatial connections without losing its original identity.
