I posted this on our Facebook page, and yes, it's about the property we show you here, with the sinkhole. . let us know in the comments what you think.
ADVICE NEEDED: There is a piece of property, honestly, it's my dream piece of property, that just went up for sale. Now the man who bought it back in 1975 had an amazing dream for this property. He wanted the WORLD to see the beauty that was hidden here. For over 30 years, up until he died, he slowly worked, wrote a book, and tried to find a way for this property to become a park, or in some way, find a way for more people to share in the beauty that it help. I have followed his story ever since we found out about it. I had contacted his grandson shortly after he passed and told him if the property went up for sale, we would love to buy it. Sadly, we never got notified that it went up for sale ( I don't think his children had the same vision he did), and the property was sold to the neighbor. So now instead of the 27 acres, it is now 68 acres with a little rustic off the grid type cabin on it. We went and looked at it yesterday (which you will see in the vlog). We can't afford what he is asking for it, as much as we would love to have it, but it's eating away at me. This place NEEDS to be seen.
So here is my question. I would LOVE to start a Kickstarter campaign, tell the story of the property, and try to raise at least enough funds ($150,000), to buy the property from this man. Any money going over (and the small amount we had set aside to buy property), could be used to fix up the area so that people could actually come and visit. We could do guided tours, rent out the cabin (or use it as perks for donations), I just don't know if it's the "right" thing to do. People ask for money all the time, and this partially seems selfish, but at the same time, I understood the original owners vision of what needs to happen here. How it NEEDS to be seen. What do you guys think? Stay Positive Dream Big! Should we go for it? At least with Kickstarter, if we can't get the funding, no one gets charged at all. So we can take the chance and see if we can do it. This would reach farther then just our YouTube channel. I would want to share this with Rock Hounds, Michigan tourist places, and so on. So there is a tiny chance. . it could happen. . . What do you guys think. . Don't you agree, that this place needs to be seen by everyone. . and not just owned by one person who hides it and fences it off from the world. . . . .
