Our Rescue Husky Oakley DOES Know How to Play!
Life is short, make memories with your dogs! Today we are dealing with a massive surprise spring snowstorm that turned our world into a literal ice block. After coming home early from camping, we found the Jeep and our camper completely encased in 4 inches of ice! Jamie and I had to rush to winterize the lines with antifreeze and get the heater going before everything froze solid. It is definitely a husky weather emergency around here, but Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor aren't complaining about the cold one bit!
The biggest highlight of the day was seeing our rescue dog Oakley finally let loose. A lot of people ask if rescue huskies know how to play, and today Oakley proved she definitely does! Seeing her "zoomie" through the deep snow and engage in a big game of tug-of-war with a Kong Wubba made all the ice-scraping worth it. It’s so heartwarming to see her personality shine as she realizes she is safe and loved in her forever home.
We also took a drive to check out the local flooding near the dam. With the warm and cold cycles, the river is rushing and the golf course is basically a giant ice rink! Between the snowy trail walks and the indoor husky wrestling matches, it’s been a busy day in the life of a husky owner. We hope this video brings a smile to your face and reminds you to enjoy every moment with your pets, no matter how much snow is on the ground!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR DAY
❄️ Coming home to find the Jeep and camper completely covered in a thick layer of ice.
🚜 Jamie using the jack and the heater to try and get us disconnected in 18-degree weather.
🌨️ Watching the massive snowflakes fall as we prep for 7 to 11 inches of surprise snow.
🐕 Oakley showing off her playful side and finally joining in on the husky games!
🧸 Shelby finding her favorite "hidden" toy and starting a game of tug-of-war.
🌊 Driving down to the dam to see the incredible power of the rushing floodwaters.
🥤 Accidentally making a "Jeep Slushie" after leaving a soda in the freezing car.
☀️ The girls snuggling up together for some "Husky Yange and Yang" curls at the end of the day.
