Okay, so some of you have asked a lot of questions about the parody video that we did.
If you haven't seen the video, you can click pretty much anywhere on this screen or up at the top.
There'll be a little box that says parody video. You can click there to go watch it.
We thought that today we might do a little bit of a behind-the-scenes type of thing for the video to kind of give you guys
a little bit of an insight on what we were doing.
The video was filmed at our local shelter, the Huron Humane Society of Alpena.
I'm a board member for our shelter and had full permission to go in and do the videoing and get the footage that we needed.
Shiloh was the main
quote-unquote star of the video. A few of you asked why we chose Shiloh
over Shelby or Oakley.
Mainly we chose Shiloh because
Shiloh is a very good listener. Shiloh can sit and stay when we want her to. She can lay down when we want her to.
She'll look at us when we call her name.
We knew she would be very easy to work with in comparison to like Shelby who doesn't listen to anything and
Oakley who kind of just does what she wants when she wants. So we knew that Shiloh would be the perfect
dog for the video and Shiloh also has that very sweet
personality even without knowing a lot about her and without really knowing who she is. She just has this
personality about her that you can really see in her eyes and we kind of wanted that
because we wanted to do the video as a
message of what really happens to a dog when they get dropped off at a shelter and just
left by their owners and just dumped there. We wanted to portray
what they really go through and we knew that Shiloh would be
the right dog for that, to show that.
Many of you asked on YouTube and Facebook and Twitter if that was actually me singing.
Yes, it was actually me singing. Andrea from Facebook wanted to know if I had to go to a studio to record my singing voice.
No, I have a snowball microphone that I bought.
I don't know, it was a couple months ago now and I used that to record my voice and then
Jamie actually used his music mixing program and did a few pitch correcting things and some noise
cancellation things to make it sound a little bit better, which when I first heard it, I wasn't happy with it.
It's really hard to sing a song and hear your own voice when you're not used to doing something like that,
especially when you're gonna be putting yourself out there to so many people.
I was really nervous about it, but after Jamie played with it and really fixed it for me,
I was much happier with it and I felt more comfortable and I knew the message needed to get out there and
I was really hopeful that you guys would accept what we were doing and be happy with it.
And for the most part, it seems like most of you really were.
Romani asked, how long did it take us to do the video?
To do the video itself, the editing from start to finish, it probably took over a month.
I had to contact Sherri and give her the music and tell her, you know,
I want you to rewrite this music for this song.
So it had to take time for her to do that and then once we got the song,
we had to, you know, I had to do the singing over top of it.
Then I had to give both of those files to Jamie and he had to tweak it and fix it and make it just perfect.
So it probably took a month at least from start to finish when we did it. Again, it was our first parody.
So there was a lot of things we were doing where we were had to do it and then we had to do it over and
we didn't like how this turned out. So it was a really big learning experience for us.
Chrisanna from Facebook wants to know, how difficult was the song to get through without choking up?
I have to admit that it was very hard to get through.
I think I probably sang it 15 times and there was a lot of times during singing it where I actually had to stop and
restart or try to finish and hope that at least the second part would sound good.
It's a very sad song, very emotional and it was kind of hard to get through.
Mauricio from Facebook wants to know, who wrote the lyrics and do you plan on doing more parodies?
I actually wrote the lyrics for the song there when I was in high school
I used to write poems and things all the time and there was
songs that would come out and I would rewrite the lyrics to the songs and I always thought it would be really fun to do
parodies, whether they'd be happy, sad, whatever, a joke.
I actually rewrote the lyrics to the song. I have actually rewritten the lyrics to
multiple songs themed towards the dogs channel, but up until now we didn't really know how to properly put everything together.
So to answer your questions about more parodies, yes, we will be doing more parodies.
I don't think we'll be doing like tons of them.
It's not gonna be something we do every week because they are a lot of work.
They do take a lot longer to do than our normal videos, but you will be seeing more parodies from us in the future.
Chocolate and Books from YouTube wants to know if the person that was walking Shiloh to the shelter door was a shelter employee or
if it was somebody we knew, one of our friends. Um, that's actually Jamie.
We...
We used Jamie for the video.
We tried not to show, because we didn't want people to associate a face with the video,
so we tried not to show his face at all.
I think there is one scene where you actually can tell that it's him.
But no, it's actually Jamie in the video that did that. He's not a bad daddy, really. He's just portrayed as one in the video.
That's all I have for you guys today.
I hope you enjoyed this little bit of behind the scenes. Some of the footage was in the parody, some of this footage you
didn't see in the parody. I just kind of threw it together to do this question-and-answer thing for you guys.
I hope you enjoyed it. Um, go watch the parody again. Share it with your friends.
Let's get this message out there, and we'll see you guys for Fan Friday!
