Thrift With Me -- 1977 not 1911 -- Vintage Crafts

What's the most ridiculous thing you didn't buy at the thrift store this week but wanted? For me it was this anniversary announcement. I originally thought that said 1911 but of course it's 1977. You just have to look at the newspaper clipping or the photograph for it to be obvious that it can't be 1911 but that's what I first saw when I turned it over and I can't feel bad that it was donated to the thrift store because I imagine it hung on a wall or maybe it was even tucked in a drawer for years but that is 50 years past the couple's 50th anniversary. It has lived its time and part of me kind of wanted to bring it home but I didn't. I did bring home that little 40 cent doll kit. I don't know if I will ever sew her or not but I love collecting these old kits. That center bottom image is the one that I've been working on cross stitching for absolutely ages. As much as I like old Tupperware especially that 1970s gold I look at it in the thrift stores and estate sales every time I come across it but I never buy it. It's always expensive and it's always in bad shape and I don't think I want Tupperware with somebody else's name sharpied on it. This has got to be the oldest electric iron I have stumbled across or maybe it is just in the most terrible shape. No one is putting that anywhere near a wall plug but it still scares me a bit. These look like they would have been on my grandma's kitchen and I'm still gonna sew it every time I see a carnival glass punchbowl although the last one I saw and it was at the same store it was the same price and it had something like 48 cups with it. I would have bought that cross stitch kit except there was nothing there but the packaging. I did search around because sometimes things get separated and you can find them and put them back together but no luck this time. Whoever was sorting yarn at Goodwill actually got all of the matching skeins in the same bag this time. That is a rarity. Now hopefully the person with the right project that needs those skeins will come along and find it. I'm not crowding a stranger those were my son's boots there. They actually had some yarn bags that made some sense this time. That looked like it hadn't even been opened. There's sock yarn in this bag that's Lion Brand Sock Ease and the blue next to it was also sock yarn but the rest of that bag is just a mishmash and I don't know why some little inner voice told me that that's American Girl Furniture. Google Lens says it is but wow somebody did an interesting repair on it. I'd love to know the thought process behind that one. There's the Dimensions logo but it's an iron-on transfer. That's cross stitch but I didn't love the kit enough to even try to figure out if it was intact and if you're trying to figure out if it's stamped cross stitch or give it a shake because the gems inside will rattle.
