Join me for a calm early morning walk through the Oxfordshire village of Ramsden in the English Countryside. Filmed at the start of the day, this walk follows quiet lanes, traditional stone cottages and open countryside, capturing that peaceful moment before the day fully settles in.

There’s no talking or music in this walk, just natural sounds, birds in the hedgerows, and the gentle atmosphere of a countryside morning.

Ramsden is a small village in West Oxfordshire, set within rolling countryside not far from Chipping Norton and the Evenlode Valley. The village has early origins and appears in historical records dating back to the medieval period.

The name “Ramsden” is believed to come from Old English, meaning “valley of the ram” or “sheep pasture,” reflecting its long connection to farming and sheep grazing. Like much of the surrounding area, the village developed through agriculture, which played a key role in the region’s rural economy.

At the heart of the village is St James the Great Church, with parts dating back to the 12th century and later additions over time. Many of the cottages and buildings are constructed from local stone, giving Ramsden its traditional English village character.

Surrounded by fields, woodland and quiet country lanes, Ramsden remains a peaceful and unspoilt village, especially in the early morning when the landscape is calm and the day is just beginning.
