A windswept early morning walk through Winstone, a small Gloucestershire village in the Cotswolds.
It has been another incredibly dry spell and the countryside is showing it. The fields have taken on their golden summer colour, while the strong morning wind moves through the grass, trees and flowers.
Along the way we meet horses and sheep grazing around the village, with plenty of beautiful summer flowers still adding colour to the landscape.
Winstone is a small historic village in Gloucestershire, situated in the Cotswolds between Cirencester and Cheltenham.
The settlement has ancient roots and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. For centuries, life here was closely connected to agriculture, with the surrounding fields used for livestock and farming, a relationship with the countryside that is still very visible today.
At the heart of Winstone stands the Church of St Bartholomew. The church has medieval origins, with surviving features dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, although it was altered and restored during later centuries.
Winstone has never developed into one of the Cotswolds' busy tourist destinations. Instead, it remains a small rural community surrounded by farmland, traditional stone buildings and open countryside.
On a morning like this, with horses and sheep in the fields, flowers lining the lanes and the summer wind blowing across the landscape, it feels very much like rural England.
