Marston Meysey is a historic village in Gloucestershire, close to Fairford and the River Thames. The village dates back many centuries and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, reflecting its long-standing place in England's rural history.

The name combines "Marston," meaning "marsh settlement" in Old English, with "Meysey," from the de Meysey family who held the manor during the medieval period. The surrounding lown lying meadows and fertile farmland have shaped village life for generations.

At the heart of the village stands St James the Great Church, parts of which date back to the 12th century. Built from local limestone, it remains a striking reminder of Marston Meysey's medieval heritage.

Today, Marston Meysey remains a quiet rural community where traditional Cotswold stone cottages, open green spaces and peaceful lanes preserve the timeless character of the English countryside. It may not be one of the region's busiest villages, but its gentle pace and authentic charm make it a rewarding place to explore on a quiet morning.
