"Villa Long Take" by PaadArchitects
“Villa Long Take” is a villa where the northern and southern courtyards pass through the building and transform into each other without interruption. A place where the northern courtyard creates a public garden for entry, and the southern courtyard offers a private pool for contemplation and swimming.
The term “long take” is a cinematic expression referring to a scene captured in one continuous shot, without any cuts. In typical homes, the experience of moving between the northern and southern courtyards is interrupted by the enclosed building. In contrast, Long Take Villa offers a seamless and uninterrupted spatial experience by connecting these two courtyards through a continuous architectural frame. This design allows two distinct worlds—one of water and the other of trees—to gradually transform into one another.
A single-layered plan, the natural temperature difference between the two yards, and an airflow tunnel formed beneath the building contribute to passive ventilation and natural circulation throughout the villa. Long Take Villa continues the design explorations of Paad Architects in the areas of programmatic hybridization, alternative ventilation methods, and the ongoing challenge to conventional boundaries between inside and outside.
