NEW & IMPROVED Bolt system for Afflictor Broadheads (How to & Install)

Welcome to another installment of In the Shop with Afflictor Broadheads and today we are
out of the shop, thank goodness, but we are outside and we want to talk today about our
new bolt system that you're going to see on all of our broadheads.
The only broadheads that are still going to be currently using our Phillips heads are
going to be some of our heavyweights and things that were purchased in the past.
Now don't worry, those are still very usable and serviceable and we'll have replacement
parts for you.
It's not going to be a problem at all.
It's a good system, it works great, but we wanted to do a little bit more improvement
so we went with a different type of bolt.
Now that bolt is called a sex bolt.
Now I can hear you guys snickering in the background, but basically what it consists
of is we have a female collared end and then a male screw.
When that goes together, what it does is it creates a really nice low profile base for
the screw so it's out of the way.
It also adds some strength to the whole setup at all as far as securing the broadhead tip
to the ferrule and securing the blades, all that.
It just is a little bit stronger system.
And also it's a little bit more accurate system.
So you run a lot less risk of stripping because we have changed this to a Torx head now instead
of the Phillips.
So you're now going to need a T6 in order to change out these bolts.
It's really simple and easy, but you'll be able to get a lot better grip on them if you're
going to put on some new blades or sharpen your current blades, whatever you want to
do.
It'll be a lot easier and you won't have to run a high risk of stripping as was sometimes
the case before with the Phillips.
The other thing is when you use a sex bolt and have that barrel system, it really helps
line everything up.
So when you have inserted your blade into your tip, run your tip into your ferrule,
you can really look through there and see that that hole is perfect, but it has to be
absolutely precise in order for the female barrel end of this sex bolt to go through.
Now when you were first putting this together, whether you're reassembly or you've done sharpening
or you want to change your blades and you've reassembled your blades, you're going to be
able to look in here and see that you have a nice clear hole.
If you look in here and you see that you have a shoulder or anything else in here, this
barrel will not go in.
It's going to go in and just sit there and you're not going to be able to move it at
all.
So a good idea sometimes is just go ahead and take your T6 bit and stick it right in
the hole and give it a little turn and that'll help line everything up.
Once you have everything lined up in here, you can go ahead and put your female end in.
It'll drop right in like that.
Keep a finger on that side and go ahead and insert your screw.
And that's it.
It's perfectly situated, seated, and you're good to go.
